Alright everyone, here it is:

13" MacBook - i5 2.3GHz, HD 3000 graphics, 1280x800, no SSD (like the specs we're seeing)

13" MacBook Pro - i5 ~2.6Ghz, HD3000 graphics, 1440 by 900, 16GB SSD

15" MacBook Pro - i5 ~3Ghz, dedicated graphics, 16GB SSD Combo or 180GB SSD

17" MacBook Pro - i7 ~3.5Ghz, dedicated graphics, 32GB SSD Combo or 256GB SSD

The "Pro" will be used to deliniate the new SSD OS drive. That will be the marketing kicker, since it'll be seen as a very novel idea. We already know the plastic MacBook is going away, but that's mostly because plastic looks very dated. There will still be a computer in it's price range, but it will be a unibody, hence this 13" that we're seeing now. There will still be a 13" pro, and it will have SSD and high resolution display.

As for dedicated graphics in a 13"? Get real. Not going to happen. I think you'll be happy with the resolution and SSD in the end, but prepare for the reality that we're not going to see dedicated graphics in a 13". Not now, maybe not ever.

dude, i was getting really disappointed and you just raised my hopes that there will be more than just a few changes to the mbp 13". i really hope your right. do you know first hand or are you just speculating like the rest of us?

That 13" pro = $1400 and I'm joining the cool apple kids. Otherwise I'll buy used I guess.

No crying. I just said that there is no point in trying to convince you if you don't trust me.

There are few things I say are "confirmed". In that case it's because I have as near direct knowledge of why I'm confirming. I think the only two things I've confirmed in the past 6 months is MBPs are due this Thursday. And these images are the real deal.

You seem to be confusing rumors from other sites from things I am personally confirming.

Don't F w/ arn.

The specs of the new 13" MacBook Pro are similar to this Toshiba R700-S1320. But, the Toshiba is not Sandy Bridge.

$1300 still seems a little pricey to me but I guess that is the cost of machine considered to be in the"premium business" class of hardware.

Specs also similar to this Dell Latitude premium business class machine that, like the Toshiba, is not Sandy Bridge.

Dell Latitude is $1564. Definitely too much money for the spec if base 13" MacBook Pro priced same as this Dell.

yet if we compare the i5-520m found on the current base 15" which is probably just slightly better than the i5-SB here, it's probably what a 40% increase in performance over the p8600 C2D? So I'm betting the i5 2.3 will be at least 30-35% better than the p8600.. good trade off to me.

i can assure you, only less than 10% of 13"MBP users can tell the difference with this speed bump. especially wherein majority of the users cant tell the difference between core2 and corei series anyway (well at least in my area that is)

how i loved the 2008 refresh of the MB, i actually felt an improvement

My understanding is that the low end 13" model is the only one that resellers have gotten. That's why all the leaks are on this one specific model.

arn

Which tells me the only thing left in the 13" variety is A BTO which is typically only a faster CPU.

Unless Apple has increased their BTO offerings in this model in addition to the speed bump.

On the bright side... I'd have figured this thing for an i3. Maybe with the IGP Apple didn't have the audacity.

this is old

Sony's (also not Sandy Bridge) premium business class offering with similar spec to the new 13" MacBook pro costs $1200. Still hoping this base model is priced lower than the Sony.

I think all of the competitors will be Sandy Bridge soon with prices similar to the outgoing models.

Hey... Did anyone notice this:

In one of the leaked image, the Thunderbolt port is on the rightmost, nearby the audio out.

In the other one, it's between the FireWire port and the USB port.

So are there actually TWO leaked 13" models with different port arrangements?

(I wish I have time to quote the picture but it'll take a long time to find them... I think they might be on page 1 and 49).

No, "arn" was nearly crying that I wasn't "trusting" in him and Macrumors. LOL- I'm sorry, but I don't put my trust in rumors- that would be why they are rumors and not hard facts. I love rumors, that's why I'm here, but when someone expects me to believe all rumors just because they say so, that's pushing it.

just stop...your not funny... just childish.

Has Apple Trademarked "Thunderbolt"? If they haven't yet it could be a sign that the leaked pics are fake. Also, why is the box so dirty and beat-up? Other questions linger as well such as the CPU imbalance, odd/non-standard wording of specs, and poor quality photos (honestly, my old 3G iphone takes better photos. Why do these photos suck so hard?). If this is indeed true, we can only hope that it is the MacBook replacement because it indeed a fine replacement for the Macbook. That being said, if the upgraded 13", 15", and 17" pros all are similar with little spec bumps and light peak then it's a total bust.

Actually, no.

Does this not disprove this entire leak?

The one on page 49 was a photoshop of a 17 inch model.

considering the i5 is substantially better than the C2D and the loss of the 320m is only moderate to the HD3000.... it's a fair trade. The HD3000 say is like what ~8% worse on medium settings than the 320m?

Intel Core2 Duo P8600 @ 2.40GHz--1609
Intel Core i5 520M @ 2.40GHz--2336

Battery life is much better with HD3000/i5 too.

And it goes on and on :D well I don't really care about cpus or gpus that's for real work machines. What I want is a machine that I wont have to waste 4 hours trying to install a friggin' service pack (and it didn't succeeded).

So apple wins. again. Damn:eek:

To Buy or not to Buy?

So this would be my first Mac purchase and like most of you I have been riding the rumor rollercoaster over the past few weeks leading up to this recent thread, good times! With that said I am looking for some guidance from the Mac power users regarding whether or not I should jump in and purchase the 15" I7 model given the current rumored specs? Any advise?

I'll wait for the next iMac refresh with Light Peak and hope iPhone 5 has it too for better transfer and sync speeds.

iPad 2 with Light Peak!

And since the 13 Macbook Pro has Core i3 and i5 finally, its very probable that the Mac Mini 2011 will too, since they usually have similar hardware. Mac Mini with Core i5 and Light Peak! WHOW!

It all depends on what the specs turn out to be as well as what you want to get out of having this mac.

If you want to game, probably a 15 or 17 inch if they have dedicated graphics. If you want to do everything else (including photo, music, video editing) go with the basic unless the upgraded 13 comes with a SSD/higher res screen.

The Intel CPU made my heart sink

No doubt they had to put that on there to get to jump the gun with lightspeed or whatever the call it. gamers despair!

edit - Sorry meant GPU, their CPU a great. They should just stay out of the GPU market

I would like to point out that if Dell can fit a dedicated GPU in the Alienware m11x, Apple could fit one in the 13" MBP. The question is if they want to.

Well, the M11x is over .25" taller than the MBP and almost a .25" deeper than the MBP. It's about 1.5" narrower. The MBP is about 108 cubic inches and the M11x is about 133 cubic inches. So, those extra 25 cubic inches is probably how they find the space. The M11X also has no optical drive, which is a significant amount of space to repurpose.
The M11x is also just a little lighter than the 13" MBP (4.39lb vs 4.5lbs, respectively).

Looks-wise... the M11x is ugly as sin. Whoa.

I configured an M11x similarly to a 13"MBP and the M11x was $940 (after $200 instant savings). Yes, it has a dedicated video card w/ 1GB of memory, but it also has a 1.3GHz C2D processor with a standard platter HD. The alienware also only has 10/100 Ethernet.

In the long run, they are not similar products. Alienware is a gaming specific computer. The 13" MBP is all-purpose laptop.
Buy what works for you, but don't compare dissimilar products. I don't even know what Dell to compare it to.
