If you don't think this site has lived up to that standard, why are you here?

This site has always been hit or miss. I love the articles because I test myself to see if I can "guess" which ones are true or not. Forgive me if I don't think some of today's "confirmed" rumors are true.

$999 HP Envy 14 at Fry's gives you 6 hours of real world battery life, Core i5 2.66GHz (4 threads), "Sandy Bridge", ATI Mobility Radeon 5650 1GB (faster than the GeForce 330M in the MacBook Pros as of this typing), 4GB of RAM, 750GB HDD, eSATA (you know, ports that current devices have been using for a couple of years now), and the usual junk that Apple fans consider "premium" like a glass display and aluminum casing. Also has other things like multi-card reader, HDMI, better audio output than Macs, etc.

HP Envy 14 does not have Sandy Bridge. Good machine for the money. The new base Macbook Pro should be $999. Given extra battery life (but lower graphics). Got to consider Mac trackpads and magsafe worth a little extra dough as well.

Get the f***g SuperDrive out!

I don't need it. Give SSD to the people!

+1

I seriously don't understand why Apple clings to the ODD the way they do. Every power user out there is drooling over the thought of a 13" MBP with a dedicated video card and an SSD.

/sigh

This site is a rumour site. I don't understand how they can be "hit or miss" when they post rumours. Arn confirmed the pictures and information to be correct; it's not as if he's guessing and just saying it's true.

Yes, it's only the one 13" model shown in these pictures that has been confirmed so far...

not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet but,

where did the audio-in port go?

isn't it alarming that thats missing off these supposedly "cofirmed" photos?

Arn confirmed the pic is legit. Why do you feel it's not?

This is the photo from the original post, magnified by 200% and sharpened in photoshop.
Note the two distinct lines that appear. (i saw them right away)

They would never exist in a unedited photo. Im not quite sure why the person who made this had to splice two or three images together anyway, but they did.

The 13" has a combined in/out port. At least mine does. Only 15" and 17" have dedicated ports for both.

Yes, it's been talked about. That's a plastic cover that was taken off part of the machine and left on other parts.

Oh my god- it can be hit or miss because some turn out to be true, some don't. That's great Arn confirmed it. They could still turn out to be false. I will confirm it for myself tomorrow when I see if the rumors come true or not.

You're my favourite type of poster. Every single real image leak we see there is one poster like you who magnifies the image and circles something and says, "SEE, PHOTOSHOP!"

It's just impressive how this happens with every single real image leak (did not notice it with fake images so much).

I wonder what the penalty is for opening unreleased products a day before and posting images online/ supplying sites with information and images.

Man...wtf is it with you and the concern for all of these 'sources'? If i had to guess, you probably work for Apple's Employee Firing Committee.... Get a grip, its a rumor site. Period... Just be thankful that if we get a glimpse of a product, we get a glimpse, simple as that...

But when they're posted as rumours that means that they're unconfirmed and could be false. I think to call it hit or miss we'd have to talk about "confirmed" information that has been wrong.

I was having a conversation with someone who mentioned Apple's repercussions for employees who even discuss unreleased products - they are fired. I asked a legitimate question that I am sure others are wondering about. You believe we got a glimpse of the product - I may or may not believe that. Chill.

As someone already pointed out, no it's not Sandy Bridge, it's first gen core although still a very good CPU and much better than the C2D. I looked into getting the Envy 14 when it was announced and followed it very closely. The 6 hour battery life is not what I've read from many user reports, but closer to 4-5 hours, you can get 6-7 if you have the slice battery. Also there is a "whining" noise that comes from these laptops, supposedly from the CPU, this could've been fixed though. If we're going to complain about resolution here, then might as well on this 14.5" at 1366x768 it's no better than the 13.3 with 1280x800. Yes, there WAS a 1600x900 radiance option but some silly reason HP took that away, so that point is moot. That trackpad they tried to copy? TERRIBLE. I don't think I've read ONE good review on that touchpad. Even for $999 I'm not finding a lot of people jumping on this ship.

I'm leaving my options open as I've seen some decent windows based machines on the horizon w/ SB, but some features of Apple like OSX + trackpad keep me grounded with them.. we'll see what the 15" has to offer as well as the 13" high end.

You are telling me that it has a plastic covering that goes half way across the magsafe power port?
Or like plastic wrap? Which was cut so that the perspective is completely gone for this snapshot?
No, somebody cut the photo there, the lines run 90 vertical on a picture that has the laptop at an odd perspective, not a perfect elevation.

Hey, think about this. if APPLE is planning a redesign for 2012, that means that the 13" MBP will finally get dedicated graphics!

I take them all as a whole, confirmed or not, because someone saying something is "confirmed" doesn't mean much to me. No argument needed- that's my opinion, think what you will.

This is probably a stupid question, but when are the new MBPs released/updated on Apple's website? Is that how we all find out? Or are they premiering them in a different way?

I have my doubts about today's leaks, but that is undeniably the plastic covering- no conspiracy there.

That's one picture that's got some weird issue. What about the rest? They're some of the most convincing I've seen. I'll admit Thunderbolt is an AWFUL name but we'll see. My guess is that this is real.

Not necessarily.

Maybe not necessarily, but i would say that (if it doesnt happen tommorrow) that apple WILL most likely kick the ODD in the redesign. cause honestly whats the point of having a 13" PRO lap top that is never truly up to PRO specs.

*bangs head on wall*

It's been discussed ad nauseam. How about you actually read the thread before posting? It's a soft plastic sleeve that covers the keyboard/trackpad half of the notebook (all but the monitor). It has been slid off a little, hence why the edge can be seen over the port. It's fairly obvious. There was even a link to sophisticated light analysis of the photo to determine whether it had been photoshopped together - it hadn't.
