If you don't absolutely NEED it, practice a little self-control and wait. You'll regret you order if you place it and the new MBPs come out next weeek.

Next week? How can you say that? Can´t we just all agree the´ll come out this week, maybe then it happens. Yes we can!

I've been hearing that storey for over 2 months now

Yeah, and it's getting harder and harder to take the buyer's guide seriously...
It's been saying "don't buy" about mac pro's and macbook pro's since at least november last year...

it really kinda sucks, I've been a mac fanboy for a long time. And finally the day has come when I can move on from the iBook G4 that I can barely use and this piece of crap http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Gx270-Intel-Desktop-installed/dp/B001O018Y2 now the time has come to get a Mac and they are taking their sweet time with the new stuff. Sure, they sued HTC, sure, they have the pointless iPad that doesn't support a bunch of stuff on the web, but they're leave the Mac out to dry. It makes me sad :(

I was really thinking about an iMac, but I'm considering a Sony Vaio laptop with an IPS monitor from a 3rd party. I'll definitely wait to see what Apple comes out with this week, though.

Whenever anyone posts on here that they're thinking of going Windows, a lot of people either shout TROLL! or say: fine, goodbye.

I still feel like it's a shame to leave Macs behind. Still, again I have to say that Windows 7 offers a lot more to the Mac-learned creative community than any other version from Microsoft.**

**Other than maybe Windows 2000 pro in its heyday... nice solid system that got out of your way.

Then why are you not buying the iMac?

I am hoping for the new MBP tomorrow, call me optimistic but I have been without my macbook pro for over a month now due to a failed logic board. Please Apple bring it out tomorrow!!

Really? I have Windows 7 on desktop and find it to be the same crap as Vista but with a new theme pack. Other than the slightly different appearance it seams essentially exactly the same (ie the worst Windows since M.E.).

I just went to the Apple store and asked the dude there if he knows anything about when the new Macbook pros come out. He said it might be a while but it could even be tomorrow. They guy sounded genuine and I'm thinking if they wanted to release them tomorrow (March 16th); they would have known something by now. The other thing is that from the marketing point of view, I don't think it makes sense to release them before iPad. It's the first time iPad is being introduced so they probably want a strong initial sale to generate more buzz and momentum; they probably don't want people looking at a new Macbook pro when there's an iPad sitting right next to it.

Just my thought.

You may have Windows 7 on your desktop but I doubt if you've ever used it properly. Now I've been a Mac user for a long time and I own an iMac and an MBP but let me tell you this, Windows 7 is definitely much better than Vista.

I really don't want to compare Windows to OSX but after using both Vista and 7, I am very confident when I say that Microsoft has really done a good job with Windows 7. Vista was a disaster though....

I used to work at an apple store until Christmas and we were always the last to know things, we found out when the public found out eg the iMac launch, that's why they don't have the new stuff in stores the day it's announced, it stays in the back with someone who's signed a non disclosure agreement.

I'm so glad you said that ! ;)

What are some of the things you like better about 7 over Vista? I upgraded a few weeks ago and really haven't been able to find any improvements. Even the performance problems haven't been improved (benchmarks).

Please, elaborate on how one he would have "used it properly" in reference to an OS.

It's an OS. It should get the hell out of your way and let you worry about actually *doing* stuff with your computer. About the best thing I can say about Windows 7 is that it doesn't require me to care about it in the least, so in that, it's a success, although I still far prefer OS X.

Well one can use an OS "properly" if he doesn't have a preconception that it sux before he has even used it. All I wanted to point out is that Windows 7 is more problem-free when you compare it to Vista. Believe it or not but Windows actually *does stuff* for the majority of the computer using population out there.

And if you had read my post "properly" you'd have understood that even I prefer OSX to Windows. I hope I have made myself clear "properly".

It switched over to DON'T BUY on MBPs just after Christmas. I was checking it regularly in those days.

As for tomorrow, I think it makes as much sense as anything at this point. Apple is facing two weeks of silence since the excitement of the pre-order is over and the release of the iPad has some time to come. It'd be a good way to stay in the news to release (or at least officially announce) updates on existing lines.

Correlating the release of the MBP with the availability of the iPad might get some people to come in for one and buy the other (higher margin on the iPad) or buy both even (Be really sweet if there was a discount for getting both). Hard to get people to buy an iPad, and then come back in a few weeks for a MBP, although how many people would really be probable customers for both I don't really know. I'll probably wind up with both eventually, but I'll wait it out for a 2nd generation iPad unless something like the Notion Ink Adam winds up being as cool in reality as it is in concept. I'm definitely in for a new MBP I think, although my personal experiences with windows 7 have been great so far (Vaio Desktop and Samsung Netbook) so if the new MBPs still have C2Ds (doubtful) or haven't figured out how to transition to a discreet GPU on the fly I might consider a high end PC at this point. Same price, and if you're not stupid about what you download and run avg the experience between 7 and OS X isn't nearly as different as when Vista was around, I wouldn't say it is better than OS X, they're different, but I like it just as well for what I need.

For now, just have to cross our fingers that tomorrow will be the day Steve Jobs makes even more money off of us all :)

Just out of curiosity, how many of you waiting for the new MBP either have ordered an iPad or are actually considering it? I'm intrigued, but solely for using it as a litigation tool, I don't really know how I see it fitting in with the MBP market but would love to know what you all think.
