the sotre is up.. no update today i guess
i think im goign to block my semf from checking this forum cause i am going crazy and anyway is not comming out anytime soon..

Ok, maybe it´s not coming today, but why all these post about the store not being down. IF it goes down, it's probably still at least 2-3 hours away. The store usually doesn´t go down this early. Not saying it will go down, but it´s too early to say anything.

This may be beating a dead horse but it's highly likely the lack of updates to Mac is due to iPad distraction. It's not Apple Computer Company anymore. The focus going forward is on consumer electronics.

They'll get to updating Macs when there is some sort of lull after iPad launches, probably in May or June. :(

Probably today ;-)

It'll probably happen today, since I've just ordered a MBP 13" and will be picking it up in 2 days time (was out of stock). Knowing my luck at least...

i agree as it was the same for me. i was to pick up a MBP 13" today and they say its out of stock and if i place a order i will get it in a week time and they also informed that there might be some new stuff coming up so i was asked to be sure if i am placing the order on the current MBP. hope there is some new stuff to be launched by Apple and yest if there is a launch it will take a month to reach the stores in India.

Well when the iMac was launched we didn't find out till about 5 or 6pm UK time, is that 9am california time?

8 March 2010

Apple today announced that its magical and revolutionary iPad will be available in the US on Saturday, April 3rd, for Wi-Fi models and in late April for Wi-Fi + 3G models. In addition, all models of iPad will be available in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain,Swiss n UK in late April
So its not that sure about new MBP. But we all hope for the best

Obviously nothing new today guys! Next month around this time, we can start hoping again.

Ps: I really really hate that iPad so much.

the sad thing here is that apple's most expensive products... oh god dare I say, their COMPUTERS, laptops and desktops... are the most neglected line of all their stuff.... I have certainly been feeling the serious pain of what I believe is them pulling tons of people off the R&D departments of their pro apps (logic 9 was released with RIDICULOUS bugs that should NEVER have been missed), and their previously Flagship computers,,,

real shame... I suppose money talks.... not efficiency anymore.

Hi guys, I know everyone is waiting for the new MBP myself included, theres always going to be a good chance they don't release it today, Apple will keep this very under wraps and it could make an appearance any day now.

For people who are saying they are going to buy a windows computer instead, try to hold off for a while because you know you will kick yourself. I lost my macbook pro to a failed logic board over a month ago, I have been using an old Dell and installed windows 7 on it which has been running beautifully.

Just hold out a while longer, also, today you never know, the store still has another hour or two before it would be taken down. I would guess if they were it would be by 3pm GMT.

This sounds a bit melodramatic, but I'm frankly frustrated and upset that Apple continues to flog outdated hardware in its supposed top-of-the-line, professional computers.

It's a bit rude to consumers, and particularly us who are so fond of Apple.

I realise their broadening casual market of tech-agnostics is changing their profit focus from us, but the present specs and cost are insult to the ignorance of the casual consumer and to the dedication of the core consumer.

Come on, Apple!

I'm getting a bad feeling that Apple is foregoing Arrandale and waiting for Sandy Bridge in 2011

yes, I have the same feelings. I am soooo sick of waiting. I need MBP mostly for resource consuming video editing in FCP, and I do now want outdated C2D for 2100€. I would not mind to buy it for 1500€ though, but they keep prices until the very release.....crap... and there is not refurb section in appleshop in Finland
apple. stop playing these games, I beg you!

I've pretty much decided I'm going to buy a new computer this weekend at the latest. No new MBPs today and I'll be looking at PCs (shudder). I have to say, Windows 7 looks at least bearable if not rather nifty. And I won't be getting the iPad (it's pointless) or the new iPhone (I'm confident it'll be much the same as the last three models and I want something that feels new/different) so I don't see the point in staying with Apple.

That's a five-year customer lost. Sorry. Although, I won't miss the endless rumours and fear of buying when I want in case something new comes out the next day.

seriously, that i b*t! i need a macbook badly! what is the point of keep us waiting???
at least they could tell us when approx. the new series will be released. i mean there are tons of GOOD notebooks and there is only reason why i am waiting ( dont know for how long ) and that is the mac os. what a b*t!

And why shouldn't they? As long as there are people buying their stuff who either don't know enough to care, or who are such fanboys that they will rationalize paying top shelf prices for years old technology and giving Apple enormous profits on every sale, why should Apple put more costly and less profitable, advanced processors, GPUs and chip sets in their machines?

They're doing exactly the right thing - extract every last nickel from those who will pay it, and as long as there are a lot of people here posting that their technology is still just fine, and the media is not starting to catch on and publicize that their product line is at this point very stale (lots of superfans there as well), such that it starts to leak into the general consumer consciousness, this is the course. Of course, it's a little dangerous since at some point soon, even the guys at Best Buy will be telling everyone who walks in that Apple stuff is old hat, and that will start to spread around, but until that line is crossed, this is all gold for Apple.

I don't think a product replacement is necessary, as has been pointed out over and over, the current generation of MBPs is selling well and there is no reason to take them off the shelves yet. However, they are outdated and many consumers want at least the option of new tech. Why not drop the prices down on the current generation slightly and introduce a new generation as the top tier of each size device? Those who don't care about the new tech will continue to buy the older version (and a lot of people considering a PC might be persuaded by a $1000 13.3" MBP instead) Apple could expand the market without producing a "budget" computer (something it has insisted it will not do) maintain its position as cutting edge and consumer friendly.
