MacBook Pro Update Due for Launch as Soon as Tomorrow?

Twase the night before the MBP update, wifey and kids all sleeping, all that stirred was trjwv. As he opened the brown box which was delivered to him today, a grin appeared on his face. What to his surprise was a 2010 week 12 MBP 15” 3.06 Ghz 4Gb Glossy 500 Gb 7200 RPM, his first MBP. As he took the sleek aluminum thing out of the box, he sat and admired what a wonderful sight. He fired it up, set everything up and logged onto mac rumors, only to say to himself “no more misery waiting every Tuesday for an update to occur”. lol

Checking for the update again...this time on a plane

It's Tuesday and I'm checking again from 35,000 feet over the Gulf of Mexico. Geez. Thank goodness for wi-fi on planes...I would be lost.:D

Who else? :p
I'll be in the US on mid April, and if no updates ...I'LL...BUY the actual MBP! LOL My first MBP will be magic !!!!

this just dawned on me. Perhaps the reason Apple has released the iPad is to make the average users who just skim the internet, do some typing, check email and play a few mild games switch from the macbook pro line. That way they could make the macbook pro more professional oriented with more power and ability, but prolly higher cost as well. They also might get rid of the 13".
Just my theory, what do u think?

Tuesday March 30th

but make the prediction more interesting. Not only date of release but also one of the major new feature it shall have to be the best mac since the model he replaced. Like 3D, USB 3.0 ,i7........ you go figure

So you can have more posters with the same date, but are they as enlightend as Steve? Who knows what we miss?

I stick with my first post and go for 3D funny IGlasses and ISight cameras.

Sounds like a great machine - I just wish I could get that in 13" :(

If you're referring to the mock up of Macbook3D that was posted a few times in this forum... You're terribly off base. That was completley fake - - the first person to link the picture in the forum even said something around the terms of 'it was done by my friend for fun.' 3D is just hitting TV sets, I do not think Apple will jump the gun and integrate it into their system. Heck at that point they'd HAVE to do HDMI and Blu-Ray too because streaming an HD3D movie is just not realilistic...

Ironically Apple at one point sold an iSight, but discontinued it in 2006. Yea, but seriously? that picture's pretty good for what it is, but it's obviously not from Apple.

Isn't that what the Macbook is for? I don't see the iPad as a replacement for anything. I think most people who are buying a Mac for checking email and typing will stick with the Macbook. The only reason that would make sense buying a mbp to check email would be if you wanted a larger screen.

The macbook pro is for serious gaming(at least in the apple notebook line up), programming, working with images and video editing and other similar stuff. Many people get an mbp just because its stylish, however, they the most some of them will be doing is playing online games and making word, excel docs. On another forum, there was a guy looking to buy an mbp, but then pre-ordered an iPad.

I totally agree with you on the purpose for buying the Macbook Pro. I just can't imagine buying an iPad thinking it would be a great tool for typing documents. It may be a decent solution for games and email. If people want to spend the price of a Macbook Pro just because it looks nice, then they probably wouldn't have a problem buying an iPad in addition to the MBP. I don't know that Apple is trying to deter people from buying a MBP if they don't need it. I think the iPad is an exciting new product aimed to attract new customers in the same way the iPhone did and also gadget junkies that like to have all of the latest new toys.

On the contrary, I think the body itself can be a pretty decent reason to go pro over the macbook. Every review I've read about the Macbook has had something negative to say about the durability of the case. Not overall integrity, but just that in a short period of time, it gets nicked, scuffed, scraped or chipped. For a lot of people, that extra little bit of durability is worth a few hundred bucks. I know it is to me.

I agree. For $250 more you get a better looking laptop, more durable, backlight keyboard and the option of a 15" or 17" screen. Also it has the word pro in it which makes you feel super awesome :p

I was suggesting that a macbook would be a better solution than the macbook pro if your sole purposes for it were merely email checking and making word documents, that is, unless you have the extra money. I was responding to the comment about the iPad being a reasonable replacement for the macbook pro for people who only email and type documents. I am all for the macbook pro, but I utilize it's power.

MBP update please hurry

I deploy to Iraq next month and I'm ten times more concerned with this update than being away from my girlfriend for 12 months. I need concrete answers and I'm crossing my fingers for this Friday. please be valid

Eh, with that attitude I'm sure there's someone back home who'll keep her warm while you're gone.

I can see myself doing plenty of typing with it, but not with the screen. I'd grab the Wireless keyboard. I'm hoping that's compatible with all apps
