dead on

See, as we expected ... this thread was right all along. The new Mac Books are due ... as soon as tomorrow.

All the MBP's are shown as in stock and ship within 24 hours in the Canadian Apple store.

Hmmm. I just noticed Amazon will ship you a MBP overnight. They seem to have plenty available. Could the 13th be another false rumor?

What do you get when you open up your MBP?

In order words, all the photos I see show nice boxes and I always felt my past iPods and iPhones were in nice boxes. What should I expect when I finally get my MBP? Does the software come in separate boxes if you buy it preinstalled?

Any fans of iWork out there? I have MS Office and plan to run Bootcamp to save on it.

That is very unlikely also. Arrandale is a two-die solution, a 32nm IC with cpu/southbridge and a 45nm IC with gpu/memory controller. Removing the gpu would leave three options: a) leave the 45nm IC with only the memory controller, b) develop a separate memory controller just for Apple, c) somehow integrate the memory controller into the 32nm IC. All of these are pretty unlikely.

What Intel did for Apple with the MBA was to create a smaller version of an existing cpu, which they then made available to all their customers. Integrated graphics is a key feature of Intel's marketing strategy for Arrandale and I don't think they want to move away from that for Apple or anyone else. And besides, if Apple doesn't want to use the integrated gpu, they can just not use it and include a dedicated gpu. That's a lot easier than a custom chip.

Unless Apple uses the chips with integrated GPUs for the lower price brackets and uses the Core i7 Extremes for the upper end (they don't have a built in GPU).

See Intel site: http://www.intel.com/products/processor/corei7/mobile/specifications.htm

VERY unlikely though, since the TDP is 45W and the unit price is about 1000$...

All Adobe needs to do is modify their Flash compiler to emit "C" code. This is not anything new as there have been many compilers that use another high level language as the "target". Then this generated C code gets compiled using Apple's development system. All of this could be hidden from the user's view.

It would be fun to write a demo iPhone app in FORTRAN. One could use f2c. f2c is a FORTRAN compilers that target ANSI C.

What is up Apples sleeve?

It seems like all this talk about the core i7's and the release date with the iPad and the 4.0 iphone update, iPad 3G and all these new MBP's are a bag of mixed peas.......

What the heck is going on over there?

Apple Store Century City

Hi Everyone,

I have been following all the MacBook Pro updates forums for 6 months now and finally felt compelled to post. I went to the Apple Store tonight in Century City to take a look at the iPad and I asked the sales associate there if he can give me any hint if the MacBooks were going to be released tomorrow and he told me this...."Sir, I highly advise that you stay patient for a few more hours." He then winked at me and told me to come back tomorrow. The day has finally arrived!!! :)

Thank you for posting this! I now have real hope that I will soon own my first Macbook Pro!

When do they typically update the website? Midnight? 8 am? Any insight?

Oooh.. Sweet! Hope youre right and not be telling tales, else I'll be hunting you down:p

I don't see it on this list (scroll down) http://www.nvidia.co.uk/page/geforce_m_series.html

Perhaps a custom-made chip?
The 300M series is out now, I will seriously lol if apple don't include them - it's taken them so long just to get updated processors lol

I think that 'GT216' refers to the actual processor developed by NVidia that powers a series of cards, not one retail card in particular.

Compare those specs to the 9600:
Makes me sad :(

Well, it depends. It might make some people who wanted to use a 17" as a super mobile graphics workstation sad, but if you could get that in a 13" it will make a lot of people very happy. :)
