I just bought my 13 Macbook Pro in February... would I be able to go to an Apple store and swap it and pay an extra fee of w/e? I bought it out of country but it was from an Apple reseller though.
Regardless, we feel reasonably confident that the new MacBook Pros will come very soon.
Thanks for the advice.Be careful, kiddo. 75% of mutual funds don't even beat the S&P 500.
Buy ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) rather than mutual funds. The Russell 2000 index beats the S&P 500 hands down, so stick a bunch of dollars in IWM and forget about it. You can shove a bunch of bucks into the S&P 500 by buying SPY.
I definitely have plenty of time.Based on your comments before, I assume you're under 25. Be aggressive. You have time to recover if the market tanks like it did over the past couple of years.
Ouch. '05 huh? You got shafted when those new ones came out in '06.I'd love to trade in my 2005 Toyota RAV4 for a new one. Ain't gonna happen.
Nope, just a shareholder.Wow, you're kind of a big deal.
Nah, '05 was the last year that they had a manual transmission option, plus you never want to buy a new model year, especially since they moved production from Japan to North America.Ouch. '05 huh? You got shafted when those new ones came out in '06.![]()
anyone know approx how much it'll cost to do an upgrade? mine's a 2.53ghz mbp with 500gb hd and 4gb ram. im hoping i can upgrade for like under 200 or something...
I hear ya on the manual. The one thing I wish my '06 had. That said, ours has been a dream, not a single problem to speak of. Not sure if they shifted some production here, but the VIN on mine clearly indicates it was assembled in Japan...Nah, '05 was the last year that they had a manual transmission option, plus you never want to buy a new model year, especially since they moved production from Japan to North America.
Nope, just a shareholder.
Partial ownership of Apple Inc. is basically available to anyone. If you really want to tell Steve & Co. how to run the company, buy a share, and show up at the annual shareholder meeting. There's an open mike forum at every meeting.
Ever since I've owned AAPL share, Apple makes more money for me than I spend on them. I don't really think of it as a "big deal". I really see it as a good investment.
I certainly don't think that everything Apple has done is wonderful and fabulous, but when the money is rolling in, it's sorta hard to complain too much. I guess I'm a slut.

I'm still on 768 kbps here...
Whatever, where is the iPad v2 hardware update??![]()
We're talking about AAPL as a business entity. Since I am a shareholder, I factor my ownership in since it makes a different in my overall ROI.Somebody thinks highly of themselves.
"Well James I do need some me time."
sarcasm: witty language used to convey insults or scorn
Read between the lines, people were using sarcasm because your request was very asinine.
You can't trade in an old macbook for a new one from Apple. Get a clue man.

I avoid in doing so, so that I may invest my money elsewhere.you never pay for cd, dvd, books, etc
I know where I can get faster network access for free but it's still not at home.i am sure a honest person like you will find a way to get fast internet for free
Uh, yeah.no worries
Perceived value is a very awkward tool. I've been trying to sell my Macbook but I keep getting low balled.
Not that I need a replacement for it. I've been tinkering in a gaming notebook (once again and laugh all you want). I'm almost tempted to buy a M11x once it goes Arrandale and gets nVidia Optimus. Then again I can just wait for a refurbished MacBook Early 2010.
I have the time and the money. I need to start tinkering with investing to be honest now that I have a reasonable amount of savings in case of an emergency. (Maybe I can even invest the money I get from a Macbook sale.)
I can invest my money, that makes me rather fortunate. We're on MacRumors too.
so ur saying i can't get a new one and pay the difference + some more? then how come everytime they release a new iphone apple gives a time peroid of when you bought ur iphone and they'd let you do an upgrade

If the stock doesn't perform, it really doesn't matter about the company's reputation: IBM, Cisco, Oracle, Microsoft, GE, Intel, whatever.
AAPL has performed above the S&P 500 over the past five years. In my mind, that's good. If you want to diss that, go ahead.
How old are you, MorphingDragon? Fifteen? Sixteen? Just wondering.

Shattered Horizon is the only game that appears to suffer greatly on the 1.3/1.6 GHz CULV the M11x has. On games alone Core 2 Duo does manage well enough with the nVidia 335M. I do see the CPU power complaint very often in reviews but it doesn't appear to matter in gaming performance. For a more all around machine you'll notice it in Cinebench, h.264 encoding, or maybe in Photoshop. The current m11x just has a terrible CPU, or I'd go for it now to hold me over. Asus and Acer are both working on 13 and 14" laptops that will have Arrandale and gaming-grade GPU's, and HP's releasing an Envy 14 and updating the Envy 13 with Arrandale. All those should be out in a month. I'm not sure about the schedule of the m11x.
I have my handful of OS X favorites and I have invested quite a bit of time in my metadata. It's too much of a hassle to move all of it over to another operating system. The problem is, I've got to have a Mac for my apps. I could just Hackintosh my gaming rig, and then sell my Macbook to buy one of the upcoming PC's. But as a sophomore in college, I can't afford a lot. I think the future Macbooks still have potential, if we can get a decent GPU and an i5 in them.

GPU drivers and switchable graphics with the release of nVidia Optimus appear to be greater concerns. Hopefully Best Buy will have display models in stock. There's an $899 SU7300/ 4 GB of RAM / 250 GB 7200 RPM model that's supposedly showing up tomorrow. I hear rumors of a June or July update on the hardware. Though it might not be the processors just yet.
Hovering just under $1,000 is where I'm aiming with a new(er) notebook. Then again I might be better off just getting a new monitor and GPU for now. I have plenty of time and choices.

It may place my Macs as my secondary machines but it does keep me buying, sometimes.
