Take your glasses off, they seem to have something wrong with them.

I was lucky enough to be in a position to be offered private stock, that doesn't make me a businessman.

I've never argued how awesome I am.

Nah, this is fun. Great practice for University.

No offense, but I think you're at a point where you might want to just cut your losses and stop arguing. You're not really backing up your points anymore... You started off strong, but it's dwindling quickly.

AAPL stock or otherwise, there have definitely been a billion+ ways to make money since June. Now it's just a matter of using it for a MBP... or maybe just a crappy netbook.

hmmm...

gotta love a thread that is >50% off topic...

and yet people will complain if the same topic generates a shiny, fresh new thread...

Exactly. I am sick of people flinging their feces at each other. I come to this forum for info on the new MBP's, and that is what i'd like to find.

This is exiting! ^^ I have to buy a Macbook Pro for college and new versions will just be coming out right before I have to buy it. :D Come on i5/i7 and better graphics!

That's what happens when an argument turns into an argument about somebodies age, nickname and avatar. You can't back up opinions, its impossible by definition.

Yes, Apple regularly allows trade-ins on months-old previous models when new stuff comes out. All you have to do is bring it into an Apple store and say the secret words "Whaa Whaa Jobs Job!"
It's true! My dad did it a few months ago with his old 512Ke. Walked out of the store with a new Mac Pro, just like that!

Yup. Agreed. Seriously though, I will be bummed if there isn't a 13" MBP update. I have been waiting for it for months now. :(

I'm actually in the market for a new computer so I can start getting serious with my software development. I was considering an i5 iMac but if the 15" MacBook Pro is sugar, spice and everything nice. I might just have to put aside my dislike for Latptops.

I don't know many real "professionals" who need professional-grade computers who would use the MacBook Pro.

You mean professionals like Architects, graphic artists, doctors, film makers authors, publishing houses, photographers, dentists, opticians, lawyers, teachers, research centers ?

I know of all of the above and a lot more.

Does anyone have experience with buying old models from the refurb store after the new ones come out?

I ask because I'm an incredibly poor university student, but I need a MBP because of my major (internet technology/graphic design). I've been waiting for the refresh to get one, but if the price points shown here are accurate, I just can't afford it. Has anyone bought an old model from the Apple store or another reputable dealer after a refresh?

Depending upon stock levels, the local apple store may have old models at reduced prices. The last iMac update mine had them at a few hundred euro less. Doesnt to hurt to ask once the new ones are out.

The reason for not updating the 13" could well be that this machine never had dedicated graphics.

With the new processors that would actually a huge step backwards from the current Nvidia-offering. Nothing that you would appreciate.

? Any ideas about the release date??

So..... This is potentially VERY exciting news!! The new MBP I have been Waiting and Waiting and Waiting for since Sept 2009!!

So with this latest romour re imminent release of mbps - what date do you thing we will see them released?? :)

My wish-list:
1) Blu-ray dies a painful death*
2) Movies/Music/etc. moves to cloud/flash only
3) Optical drives die a painful death*

*painful death does not necessarily indicate pain

You must work for the music/film industry!!! :D

A question, what should I do with my existing DVD, Blu-ray discs ?

How can i access the cloud (and use my computer) when I have no access to the net ( e.g at a no connected relative, on holiday, sitting on the beach, etc) ?

To me the "Could computing" idea is the daftest thing since trying to fly by flapping your arms. :p

YMMV.

Intel specs have room to grow.

All the i-Series procs currently have just 256KB L2 cache per core. These are fast and highly intelligent caches but count on Intel to do another round of revenue generating improvements in the near future.

Good move by Apple to slow these guys down in more ways than one.

I use it. Adobe eats ram and processor power for lunch. : ) Especially when working with 100 meg images and loading brushes, copying from other images and having Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign open while wanting to listen to iTunes. : ) Thank goodness for smc LOL

He is poking fun at the brain-damaged commenters who claim that Apple is getting out of the computer business.

They make such ridiculous claims despite the fact that the Mac product line generates half of the company's revenues, has great margins and that half of all Macs are sold to new customers. Likely, these geniuses aren't reading Apple's quarterly financial statements.

It's not just current revenue/profit, it is also future revenue/profit. iPod revenue cannot increase very much anymore, same as Microsoft software revenues cannot grow very much. Mac revenues probably could grow by a factor of 10 (that would put Microsoft into real trouble).
