Is there a media event scheduled for next week?

If not I think we can come to 2 conclusions, either:

1) It's not coming out Tuesday.

2) It's going to be a minor upgrade, so we should keep our expections low.

Well im from the UK and alot of UK Online retailers have gone out of stock John lewis, Misco, Krcs to name a few this rarely happens so something big is happening!

Even I beleave there will be an update soon hopefully im not eating my words by the end of this week because I've been waiting since november last year!

Im not expecting a design refresh it would be nice to see the white unibody macbook curves to be carried over and less sharp edges on palm rest if everything else is the same!

(and just to add get rid of that well aged GPU something from ATI this time!)

I know that the people on here say that apple doesn't care about one person's opinion (the people who say a price increase is a deal-breaker), but that one person probably represents the thoughts of 2-5 people who don't actually post. Just saying, Apple needs to be careful. Prices might not be too high yet, but if the trend continues Apple will lose its college/high school student market. We're about to owe thousands of dollars to a university, we can't afford price gouging from Apple too.

You aren't Apple's target market.

Your parents are.

As an AAPL shareholder, I don't want their margins eroded by catering to broke college kids. Sorry, I realize that's brutal truth, but that's the way it is.

When you're all growed up and have some bucks, buy some shares of AAPL. Or ask your parents now for a sh*tty netbook and three shares of AAPL.

As a shareholder - this is a VERY arrogant statement. Do you REALIZE that Apple has over a 65% marketshare in the Education Market?!!! This is a VERY relevant concern by RatherBeReading, as many Tuition loans are parted out for new laptops. You'll be VERY concerned if Apple's product sales drop significantly this August - October quarter and market share in the Educational market drops say 10% to Dell/Lenovo.

I don't want to p*** on anyone's fire but I wouldn't build yourself up too much over NAB 2010. The appearance of Apple is only another rumour and nothing is confirmed as yet. Also, its not going to be easy trying to get a good pitch with an event which has already started as most of the prime or good spots were allocated months back.

Also, if Apple are to make an appearance, I would find it a bit strange and out of place to use this event to announce a major new range of hardware releases. If anyone is familiar with NAB, you'll know what I mean. XServe and Mac Pro maybe, FCS definitely yes, but not Mac mini, MacBook etc.

I really, really hope I am wrong about Apple and NAB 2010 but we'll see eh. I'm rather looking forward to eating my words.

Lets just hope its not a rumour, and we get our MBP, + sorry about the link, didn't realise it was just book signings :p

This the media event you were looking for? :)

So if this is THE media event, why hasn't MacRumors picked up on it? Why is it just us peons are aware of it here in the forums?

And, for that matter, how come AppleInsider hasn't picked up on that or the new part numbers. Everyone refers to MacRumors on this one...

Still not getting my hopes up.

Did you follow the link to http://imtapplenab2010.eventbrite.com/

I don't think it's a rumour if there's a bona fide RSVP link in the invitation.

It is odd that an Apple reseller is sponsoring the event, and that it's not at the NAB event itself. That, of course, could just be the ASA (Apple Secrecy Agency) covering its tracks. And, it's common for PR events to be held in hotels anywhere in Las Vegas during events.

The reseller is saying "Please join Apple for an update...". That would seem to be reseller suicide if Cupertino isn't involved.

I'd be very, very happy with a Mac Pro update on Wednesday :):):)

I think the white MacBooks actually support 8 GB. But if you look at how much more Apple charges for a MBP with 8 GB, and then you assume Apple would charge the some money for 8 GB in a MacBook, then you'll see that with a MacBook, the RAM would cost almost as much as the whole computer. Offering a MacBook with 8 GB at that price would just upset people.

Yeah, I don't see 8GB on the Macbooks yet. There's been reports around that DDR3 prices are actually rising. I know I can't find desktop sticks for as good of a deal as I got 9 months ago. Sure like my 6GB (triple channel) on my rig though. Very nice for multitasking.

RAM prices bottomed out around June - July 2009 for DDR2. DDR3 hit bottom later in early Fall 2009.

Ever since then it has been uphill for all RAM.

I guess I'll copy and paste my post from another thread.

So... I called the Renaissance Hotel in Las Vegas and they absolutely confirmed that there is an Apple event on Wednesday April 14th. That is all the information I got because they kept trying to push me to book a room...

If you don't believe me, don't hesitate to call the Renaissance Hotel in Vegas. I think they'll confirm your suspicions.

That's kind of douchey... in my opinion... :)

That's interesting. Kinda goes against Moore's law, no? Any idea why this is?

Apple is hosting an event in Las Vegas? Have they done one there before?

The fact that I called the people at the hotel? It's not like like I bothered them. I told them up front that I wasn't really looking to book a room, but just needed some information on a possible conference. They were more than happy to help me out.

If you are just calling me a douche, that's a different story for a different thread, not to mention a classic of example of, "Hey look, I can say whatever I want when I'm hidden behind a computer screen!".
