Yeah, i've gotta say that incessantly refreshing this page has become a lot less exciting since last night. *sigh*

The irony being, of course, the title of the thread is about a new MBP at the Apple pre-Photokina event -- which is next Monday ;)

Yeah...it's sortof amazing that we got ourselves all hyped up about something that wasn't even rumored; i.e. a few of us just sortof decided that updates would be today, the rest of us decided to believe that (or at least hope that). Still, I'm disappointed that it didn't work.

I DECLARE C2D UPDATES IN TWENTY MINUTES! (let's see if it works this time)

LOL

I figured the pre-Photokina event was more likely, but I wasn't going to make claims either way since it's Apple -- they're nothing if not unpredictable, even over the predictable -- such as a long-expected processor refresh in the MBP.

Feel free to blame me for that partially. I was trumpeting the 19th based on iMac updates earlier this month, and I was wrong. So, feel free to call me names and make fun. I deserve it.

Of course, I'm absolutely sure we'll see C2D MBP's on Monday! :D

Blame you?! hell, if i didn't have some imaginary date to obsess mindlessly over, i'd have to spend my time reviewing latin or doing that term paper from last year. Blame you!? Sir, i owe you my sincerest thanks.

Interestingly, a shop near me has started broadcasting a "Massive clearance sale" email to its subscribers, and when it does, usually in a few days, or weeks, I will see an update to Mac hardware lines. Is this an indication that the upgrade may be true after all?

I guess that shop's manager must be one of us, who believe NEXT TUESDAY.

The iMac update was on a Wednesday.

I'm just sayin'.

Wednesday. Now, I have a question for you... which will be the day that MBP upgrades are announced?

Monday of course. The Photokina event is on Monday.

MacOSrumors.com Calls "Exclusive" The Regurgitation Of A MacWorld Post

Exclusive: Merom-based MacBook Pro to be unveiled on September the 25th

I don't think they know much more than us

If you have any additional information on this, as well as the new Macbook Pro lineup, please let us know. We will post an update as soon as we have confirmation from additional sources.

That sentence seems to indicate it is still just a rumor.
Their "exclusive" is nothing more than regurgitating a MacWorld post revealing their invitation to the September 25th event.

What we need to know is the exact TIME of the Photokina event as it's 10 hours ahead in Germany from California. Also is there a San Francisco event simultaneous to the one in Germany as well?

64-bit Aperature May Take Immediate Advantage Of Merom Inside New MBPs

Boy, there are going to be some really mad people if next week "only" brings Aperture!
I think we may see a 64-bit version of Aperature that takes immediate advantage of the C2D 64-bit capabilities.

Hi guys,

Did you realize that when Merom MBP is available out there, everybody will be talking and rumoring about Santa Rosa and so on? This is becoming some of a madness, I think it's a psycological matter...

I hate dreaming at night with Photokina when I dont even know where it is on the map...

Agreed. Tech-envy. :D However, I don't care what the NEXT version of Merom will bring. I just want THIS Merom at this point because the tech is here (even though it's not Macbook Pro here yet). The Merom will be a HUGE leap from my G4. I'll worry about future platforms in about 3+ years, when I decide to start really looking again.

I don't give a crap about the c2d. I want a hardware update to include a decent video card and higher res screens in a 15" or smaller format.

Hard drive, I couldn't care less about as I will be replacing it. Same thing with memory, but I cannot use the stock screen and the stock video card. I already have a thinkpad with crap internals, and don't want to duplicate that pain. Speed? 2.0 is fine with me, c2d would be nice since when running slow I would get longer battery life, but it is not critical.

If apple does update and only puts better video on the 17" with the super fast processor, they lose me as a customer. I am sure there are thousands of others just like me.

How's this for will power: I have a brand new (built this month) MBP, delivered on Monday, sitting a few feet away. It's still in the shipping box; I haven't even opened that yet, thinking I might be taking it over to a local Apple store early next week. I will not open it...I will not open it....

....must....not....open....it. :D
