gah!

this is killing me! (and my iBook G4)

At this point I am starting to think that I'd even settle with just a processor speed boost! I pretty much heart my Apple products, and I can't wait to get a C2D MPB and have it join the family. Plus I really wanna buy Aperture and I can't run that on what I got now Steve! MBP MBP MBP MBP MBP MBP :D

Is there a possibility for an airport extreme 802.11n card for the macbook pro like the rumor in the imac on the homepage.

Last I heard was late November. Very expensive tho' -- the fastest 2.66GHz model is listed at $1172 per CPU in units of 1000.
Any idea on the price of the lower speed models?

Yeah Ok all u newbies, I was waiting for the PB G5 when they were sticking iMacs in carry cases, so forget you all! I am getting a CD2 MBP or bust!! :)

Seriously, I've worn my G4 12" pretty thin at this point so I'm getting a CD2 Macbook Pro and a Vista X60 Tablet, if either come out (they better) I'll be back to easymac for my Junior year!!

And like you all, I have an Organic exam I should be studying for, not salivating at a MBP upgrade, *sigh*...

I'm 98.6% sure that I'm buying a 24" iMac Tuesday, and even I am anxiously waiting to see an update tomorrow on the off-chance an MBP refresh blows me away.

With all the C2D laptops on the market right now (granted non-Apple), can Apple really afford to wait much longer?

Another month?

ZDNet is also saying late October to early November for MBPs. The delay is apparently based on Apple wanting to resolve heat issues before launch. Link

I've previously posted that Apple will release a MacBook Pro based on the Intel Core 2 Duo (formerly "Merom") processor in late October or early November and sources indicate that this is pretty close to the mark.
<snip>
Apple ... has been putting the brakes on the C2D notebook launch. Of course they want to ship notebooks with the new silicon ASAP but there were a litany of problems with the original MacBook Pro (heat, whine, moo, battery, you name it) that they were forced to deal with first.
Here's hoping that O'Grady's sources are wrong.

If this is true, I'm happy the heat issues wil be solved, even though it would mean waiting for another month. Ideally, heat issues would have been solved by now, and I'm definitely not happy that they're still around - but - better late than never I suppose.

ok, might as well join in too....

I think it's time for me to stop lurking and say hi as well.

I'm a pc user looking to cross over to the other side, and somehow I've gotten caught up in all this craziness!!! C2D? I don't even know why I want one...but I do. Logic and rationality have left the building ladies and gents, and I'm feeding off this mass MBP Merom Hysteria (I've never referred to laptop by an acronym in my life!!!). Merom...Merwho??? Woodcrest? Isn't that a deli in manhattan?

Is this Apple Induced Consumer Paralysis (AICP?) normal?

Help, I can't move my buying muscles...

Welcome to the club. I too am waiting for the MBP Merom to come out and finally cross over to the other side.

Ever since my girlfriend got an Apple, I've done nothing but dream about owning a Mac laptop.

If they don't come out tomorrow, I may go nuts and buy the current one....probably not though.

Any thoughts on what they might be presenting along with Aperature if it isn't the MBP?

I guarantee it won't be cinema displays. What else is there?

Welcome to The Pack. You'll find it pretty casual around here. Laid back. However, don't mistake our easy-going ways for nonchalance. We are a rabid, hungry group, and nothing will satisfy us. Save for a certain [unmentionable]?

Welcome.

Considering you have to remove the battery and pluck the thing out from underneath... hardly "easy access."

Good point! Apple should make it much easier to remove/swap harddrives than they did with the MB! My son's Dell (I know, I know ... I've failed to teach him about the "dark side" ....) had to be sent in, and the support tech told him to remove the harddrive before sending it in, so that he wouldn't have to worry about losing data! How hard was it? Take out one screw, and the harddrive slipped out the side. No removing batteries, panels, keyboards and endless screws, just one single screw. And my Gateway at work (again, I know, I know, but it's required at work, and I use nothing but Macs at home!) is the same - remove one single screw and the harddrive slips right out.

C'mon, Apple! You gotta be able to give us an easy-swap HD bay!

Well, I'm off to bed...I wish that I could see if our MBP's are released before I have to go to school tomorrow...but it seems I am going to have to wait until either lunch or when I get home. Somebody wanna text me in class with the news?

Good luck everybody, and here's to tomorrow. September 25 is the day.

It looks like the iMac may have the hardware to support 802.11n in the future, once the protocol is finalized. If this is the case, all models will likely get the same wireless upgrade with their next refresh.
