Is Macrumors offering any coverage of the event or will it just be an update to the Apple page?

Welcome to the club. I too am waiting for the MBP Merom to come out and finally cross over to the other side.

Ever since my girlfriend got an Apple, I've done nothing but dream about owning a Mac laptop.

If they don't come out tomorrow, I may go nuts and buy the current one....probably not though.

Yup, me too. I'll act all rational for a while...but then I'm back on this board, hoping for some news...lol.

This is funny.

Tomorrow's the Day?

Howdy there folks,

This is my first post after having read about these C2D MBPs since like July. I've got the first day of class tomorrow and this is where my mind is. Wahoo!

Any thoughts on what they might be presenting along with Aperature if it isn't the MBP?

I guarantee it won't be cinema displays. What else is there?

Steve just stands there and gives a monkey dance. Way better than any MBP :p

I would be in the same boat, but I can't justify buying something I know will be refreshed in about a month... hence the 24" iMac.

It's an awesome value, (C2D and a lot of screen real estate).... IF you can get over not being able to carry it around in a backpack, which I admit ain't easy.

Hey, me too. If you don't also go to UChicago, we're apparently both attending the latest-starting schools on earth.

Also, we have the same illness/mania/fetish/poor priorities.

Ahhh! I'm starting school tomorrow too, two time zones before you. I'm gonna be rushing from place to place IF it's announced tomorrow, ultimately tough but rewarding. But then I start in with the "What if?"s. Namely, when it's announced, what if it's not in stores yet? :(

Isn't there someone in this forum who has studied and knows how to perform time travel, who can jump into the future and bring back a shipment of the MBP C2Ds right now

:p

there would be, but we've all been reading the other thousand posts and don't have time to figure out the complexities of time travel.

Read that post. They are Apple's men. :p And not C2D, is C5D.
Anyway, Apple will bring us Time Machine in Leopard as they promised. :D :D

Bloody hell, I am going to be in anthropology class tomorrow whilst the announcements are going on. Thank goodness my campus has wireless Internet!

Still got my fingers crossed.

Downside Is They Need ALL 2.33GHz Meroms For MacBook Pros. Much lower yield of that speed in the production ramp up. Thus the delay.

You do know that Conroe and Merom share the same wafers, right?

They are just speed- and voltage-binned Conroes.

Please Explain What You Mean To Say About Yields Pressure

I did not konw that. So you're trying to say something about yield quantities in your typical obscure way? Why don't you spell it out for us dummies please?

I don't think they would offer that much of a discount even if you're a member. I am sure they are pretty much the same, and if you're thinking of adding the discount on top of your education one, I've never heard of any kind of discount offer used that way. :)

That's where you're wrong. For the low-end MBP, the educational discount is $200, while the ADC discount is $400. Factor in the $100 membership cost, and I save $100.

First day of class usually has no meat to it, or the first week for that matter :p

Well maybe if I'd had a C2D MBP I could have worked out some of my calculations about evolving spacetime wormhole geometries, closed time-like curves, violations of the weak energy condition, yadda yadda yadda...

goodnight everybody, hope we'll be back tomorrow congregating in another thread celebrating the latest macbook pro release.

GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE.

Let's read this lovely poem from SteveJoobs again:

<<The Mac Obsessive's Prayer>>

And now I lay me down to sleep
And pray for Merom M-B-P
And if no update when I wake
I hope Steve Jobs falls in a lake.

ZZZZzzzzz
