man, this is killing me... but i have to stay optimistic... i can hold out longer for the upgrade... i just hope it's a substantial upgrade at that... (wishing) BLACK MBP
i doubt they'll ever have a black MBP.. it's not exactly professional apple look... sure thinkpad has been black and it looks professional, but i just can't imagine mbp does like that (same as if thinkpad goes silver)

maybe it's the whole image of colorful (or black and white) laptops at a professional apple environment..)

I continue to wait....

After all, my PB 12" is not officially at the 3 year mark until November. :D

Here's hoping October, but the truth is, I'll wait as long as it takes.

still nothing...

Those new MBP's will have to be mindblowing and amazing I think, otherwise we'll all be disappointed... Waiting this LONG for just an cpu-upgrade...

I would buy me an MBP now.. I really don't care about Merom. It's just price of MBP is still the same as when it first came out... So you'll be paying alot for almost a year-old machine... That's my trouble.

I need one for school! So I guess I'll wait and do my homework on my old G4 400mhz. Not very good for photoshop but well...

This is a long wait? I don't think so. Just ask the folks who were waiting to get a new powerbook that was "sure to be upgraded" soon...

In the long run, better to wait an extra couple of weeks for a reliable upgrade, vice one that needs a bunch of updates.

They learned well from the moo's, and I can't realistically foresee another release like that. Granted, it's still better than a PC. :D

well, black is the "in" color nowadays for electronics... even tv's aren't being manufactured in silver much anymore... if you take a look at the apple products now the premium one's are black now (macbook, ipod, ipod nano) and i think they should have a clear sign as to which MBP you have when they step it up to 64-bit

Anoyone care to dig and recall the last time they updated hardware on a Monday?

The lastest iMac deal was on the 6th, a Wednesday, but that was a surprise that everyone had pegged for the following Tuesday.

Hmmmm, scratches his head as he works in his (black) Pismo.

Personally, I think black looks much more professional than the white or silver pretty/flashy colors, but that's just me. This actually tones it all down and looks a bit more serious.

except that macbook, ipod, ipod nano aren't "pro" (i know, that argument doesn't stand sometimes and i think it sounds corny, but i really think so..)
like, do you see mac pro being black, do you see ACD being black?

i have a black ibm, that's another story for another day:D
i truly dont think flashy colors are a bit professional... but i do think silverish (or, titanium as they called) are more professional than black or white

I did notice the 1.5 page but just thought it odd that the product page would be updated with new 1.5 information but the Aperture page in the Store wasn't.

Just something I was curious about, really. I mean I can't recall off the top of my head a Monday update for anything of big importance in the line, especially for any of the laptop/desktop lines.

I'm a PC convert, so I wouldn't know, but....

When was the last time Apple revealed new hardware at a Photokina? It's hard to imagine a bunch of photo guys getting overly excited about a laptop at a photography conference.

I'm just not seeing a MBP upgrade coming tomorrow. It just feels like one of their October surprises.

2007, huh? So all those 17" mbps out ther are imaginary? or just developer boxes? :D

edit: you changed it, you sly fox...

(i'm going nuts!)

Ok you guys. Some info from the inside. Those who are waiting for an upgrade. It was not today,it will not be tomorrow,it will not be october.
It will be november. The termal issues where one of the reasons to do a major rework on the design. So if you want a c2d now.Get another brand.

you do have a valid point... i think both black & silver are professional looking... but i'd prefer to have it in black, that's all

Maybe, but I won't necessarily be holding my breath either.

Just something I was curious about, really. I mean I can't recall off the top of my head a Monday update for anything of big importance in the line, especially for any of the laptop/desktop lines.

Since they have had chips to use for testing since June, I find it hard to believe that almost 4 months later they still have significant issues to overcome. For example, increased heat, random gremlins like a moo, or anything else.

Whatever they end up releasing in this forthcoming update has to have been in the works quite a while. It's not like Intel shipped the chips to the masses, and then said "now go engineer for it".

not necessarily an old MBP. just no magnetic latch

it could still have swapable hdd but keep same shape when viewed head on

it would be the insides that were different

maybe there is a fw800 port on the side

How do you know it's an old MBP? An entire re-design is entirely speculative. I can almost guarentee that there will not be a major re-design for Merom, let alone a black version of the laptop.

Let's not put a black option for every product, please. I will be quite confused if I don't know whether to buy the black 15 dollar iTunes Gift Card or the white one.

I want my BlackBook C2D now!!!! Arrrrrrggggg come on Appple now now now now now cat cat meow meow

Well, I think that would be the most disappointing thing of all then. To wait this long for a Merom update without a case redesign would be kind of a waste. I guess if the internals are different, it'd be okay, but the current design is 3 years old.

I don't care about black, but a magnetic latch would be ideal (and I happen to love the Macbook keyboard).
