MacBook Pro Upgrade At Photokina?

We have a reason to be dissapointed.

slabbius, you can't call us a sad bunch of people because we expect apple to update their hardware to MATCH (not exceed) the competion. Many of us are forking over at leask 2k for a piece of hardware that is outdated as soon as we get it.
It is not about the fact that Merom has slightly better performance than Yonah. It is mostly psychological. If I am going to throw down nearly 3k for a computer, i want to know i am getting a top of the line, most current piece of hardware.
I could understand if Apple were a company that charges around 1k for a laptop. They're not. Apple is asking for us to pay a premium for what? A machine that is inferior to the competition?
I am a switcher and am dying to switch to the Mac bandwagon but I will not make the switch to an outdated laptop. The current may be great and yada yada yada but it would make me feel and a lot of other people feel better about our purchases if Apple could simply MATCH the competition. If i have to come to the computer lab everyday and do my work, so be it, because i cannot justify to myself paying a premium for a Core duo. Peace
 
So if they do release it tomorrow:D how would they release it.. Would it be at Photokina...or would it be a seperate event...Around what time will we know if anything is going to happen:confused:

If Apple expects us to pay a premium for their outdated machines today just so we will be back sooner, they can go on dreaming!

I'd say they would release it as a silent upgrade because they obviously didn't update them today on the "Start Photokina early this Year" event. So it really has nothing to do with the event....most likely. it would probably be sometime in the early morning i suppose as they did with the imacs

It's likely to be as silent as the MacBook was - just a press release and change on the site cover. It will be on the cover BTW for those who think not.

I just checked when the MacRumors notice was posted, which was 7:13 AM. I didn't check to see if any forum postings were made earlier than that.
 
I'm kind of glad the MBP's didn't come out today. Cause if they did, there's no way they would have been in stores today. They can't exactly swap out merch in the middle of the day. However, if they're released tomorrow, there is no reason why I can't walk 4 blocks and buy one at 10am EST.

They are damned ugly, but 17", and C2D 2.13, and a real graphics card, oh and get this, it is cheaper than the top 15" MBP.

Erm... usually when a new model is released it doesn't show up in retail until a week or two later, so what makes you think that releasing it in the morning or late in the evening would make a difference to retail availability?

ah, well i didn't know it took a week or two. but still, it's more probable to be in stores immediately if it's released during a store update in the morning than if released at an event.

eventhough I have a good feeling for today release of a brand new redesign bloody amazing breathtaking MBP, I 'll change my strategy, counter psicology

is goes like:

I really don't want that much a new MBP

I don't care if they release a new laptop (sorry, notebook):p

I'll be happy to buy this week a CD at 2,16 GHz

Well you can buy it yourself, I wouldn't even touch it if they drop the retail versions to refurb prices :rolleyes:

most like est because it would be somewhat inconvenient in florida or somewhere on the eastern coast to see an update at 2:00pm. That way everyone sees the update in the morning hours
 
Maybe they're working on Photokina time. It's almost 9am in Germany.

My hopes for tuesday just dropped a bit, as Aperture is now in the norwegian store, whcih means no store-down for that at least... And yes, the Macbook Pro's here are all good-ole CD..
