You forgot a few:
-Keyboard is worse than previous generation
-Soldered components (cannot upgrade)
-three-finger drag issues on track pad
-Higher cost
-Gimmicky touch-bar
-Loss of mag-safe
-Loss of useful ports
The keyboard, touch bar and USBC only ports are not an issue but an improvement for most. No one cares about soldered components. They just want their products to work as advertised. Sorry.

well my list of annoyances with safari are too big to use it as my main browser :)

- does not show URLs (seriously?)
- missing extensions
- rendering problems
- only works in apple devices, same crap as IE on M$ side
- etc
I agree with you on extensions, urls and the Apple only thing.

Wow, hold the front page! Laptop battery lasts less time when using power hungry apps!

To quote Apple. "UP TO 10 hours battery life".

3 hours is "up to" 10 hours.
Use better designed apps.

Agree 100%. I was attempting to resolve an issue in Sierra by draining my battery a few times, watching a video in Safari was drawing around 8 watts of power. Watching the same video in Firefox was up around 13 watts (exact values escape me now). This was on a fresh install, max display and keyboard brightness.

Chrome is written for speed. Speed = more CPU, more CPU = faster battery drain. Simple.

how can this be a serious article when the complaints include a person running an external display on battery (why just why?!) and a bunch of folks using Chrome which is a known power gluten.

Seriously MR what has happened to you? Apple never said 10 hours of battery life "doing whatever you want hooking up all kinds of whatever to the device".
I think you mean glutton, but it's hysterical to read that sentence outloud

Wow, somebody complained that the battery life is less when gaming on an external monitor? For real?
I mean seriously? I game with any previous MacBooks, and yes, the battery life will be less than advertised. Do these people never use a laptop before?

I'm using a macbook pro 13 and a 15 since day one.
Battery life is in line with old Macbook Pros and far better most Windows laptops.

Got to say I'm worried about the battery life on my new MPBTB. Only done two charge cycles and definitely getting less than 5 hours. Thought it might be because it was new and spotlight was indexing, but now don't think that's the case.

Just opened it up after a day asleep on batter and lost 25% juice in last 45 minutes. Will be contacting Apple if this continues!

**I'm not currently running Chrome**
Just been sitting here, chatting, watching the power drop. Had a few apps open, but not doing anything... less than 2 hours to drop 70%!!

Incidentally, I'm not connected to any peripherals or gaming!...

You can remove the first point from your list by going to Safari Preferences > Advanced and checking "Show full website address".

Chrome isn't as fast as Safari tho.

For the money people are spending on these... a reasonable person would expect to be able to use any internet browser they want to and have it last to within a reasonable amount of time that Apple states in their marketing. Of course "test conditions" are always going to be optimal and in favor of the device... but come on...

One user on this thread said they are also having issues with battery life and they aren't running Chrome. But even if they were... its a $2k machine... you should be able to

oops Daniel got there first

Unfortunately MacRumors chose multiple, poor examples of this problem. I don't use Chrome or external displays. I've had my 13" tMBP for well over a week. There's no indexing, etc. I set it up as new - no migration. I haven't been able to get anything more than 7 hours of web browsing usage while using Safari. I do have Slack open. I also use Adguard and Safari's built-in Flash blocker. It's pretty much basic math - higher wattage CPU, additional SOC to support the Touch Bar, the Touch Bar itself and a significantly smaller batter. The non-TB version has a larger batter, lower water CPU, no additional SOC and obviously no Touch Bar. So it makes sense that that model gets the reported 10 hours of usage. As to why there's so many people on this thread blaming the user for using Chrome, Migration Assistant when setting up or '3rd party' applications on a daily basis is perplexing. This machine just can't meet the reported battery life Apple claims.

To all of you saying the battery life is fine, does this really look right to you to be happening right after a restart? Heck just two days ago I had 75% battery left and decided to test and see how long it would play a standard 1080p video on Youtube (yes in Safari). Well I came back later too find it had died 1 hour and 10 minutes into the video. My brightness was at 60% and I only had Word open in the background.

After Pricegate, Donglesgate, Displaygate, and now Batterygate, Team Cooked need to stop the production, I have the feeling this TBMBP will join the Samsung Note 7 in the museum. MAKE MBP GATE AGAIN

They are working on the next MBP to be even thinner, then we'll have MBP bendgate.

I'm half kidding...
[doublepost=1480808479][/doublepost]I guess I'll stick with my 2009 MBP and $100 Chromebook -which is fantastic, by the way gets great battery life, has real ports, and is super lightweight.

Take that Apple! Fix your janky OS and hardware!

Come on guys. You are only buying a $3000 laptop. Of course there will be teething issues like this. Next year when apple release the $6000 version you can be assured that it might not have issues like this.

It doesn't seem wrong, because the estimate right after a restart won't be accurate. For one thing, there's a whole lot of activity that happens with startup itself (loading the OS), and for a while after startup (loading all your extensions and processes, syncing cloud drives, indexing, and so forth).

I would wait 10-15 minutes while doing whatever you do on the computer before getting a more accurate estimate (and it's still just an estimate that will change depending on what you're doing).

So you are glad that you've returned your computer with 6h of battery life for another computer with 6h of battery life?
Battery life is not important for me but good job with the inaccurate assumption. It just wasn't worth the asking price and if you read my post history I had serious graphical issues. Screen tearing and jittering. That shouldn't happen on a brand-new machine.

1. Every review I've seen has said the keyboard is worse or that you have to try hard to get used to it.
2. Lots of people care about upgrading.
3. The problem is that they DON'T work as advertised, that's the problem. These MBP's are a steaming pile of expensive crap.
4. The only ones that should be "sorry" is Apple and the people that wasted money on this garbage. I won't be giving Apple any more money until they get serious about computing again.

Schedule a genius bar appointment and they'll show you how to open Safari preferences and check the box to show full URLs.

Safari works great for me. Zero problems and very efficient with respect to battery life, as opposed to Chrome.
