What size screen MacBook Pro (2021) did you order?

My Nov 5-10 order was just charged a few hours ago. It got hit with fraud prevention from my bank (I resolved that) but the interesting thing is being charged so early. Everything else I've ever ordered has been charged as it was just getting ready to ship so maybe I'll get mine a little earlier than expected!
Does your order status say processing or preparing to ship?

I would like an Apple guru - @TheYayAreaLiving or anyone - to guesstimate by using FlightAware or other tools to see how many cargo flights Apple is utilizing for first pre-order shipments.

Apple's logistics, along with tightly specified supply chain control is bar none. Every product launch simply amazes me.

Besides it can't be bad for Q4 2021 earnings report due out on 10/28!

This is fun & exciting. It seems like there’s a few who’ve got their actual tracking information. But considering the sheer number of us in “Preparing to Ship” with indication we’re further ahead than that, I have a suspicion there are going to be a boatload of us moving at one time by this time tomorrow. This is so much fun!
Yup, that's when you'll start seeing multiple new pages to the thread per hour. It will be a party!!

There is also an Apple warehouse in Ontario, CA. Maybe the laptops destined for CA/West Coast are stored here?

This is possible. The common models (base, most common configs) could possibly be bulk shipped with the Macs heading to the stores.. however, for those that are being shipped directly home, they will be passing through SDF. The bulk stocks going to stores on the west coast could go PANC-KONT then up to the regional processing centers. For Elk Grove (I'm in Sacramento), UPS processes everything at their distribution center at KMHR (Mather Field), which is 2 miles south of me. I see their flights fly in all the time.

So it is possible that they could go from MHR to Elk Grove then out to the stores, or ONT to the Apple distro center in SoCal then out, but I doubt those models would go directly from those distro centers to be home delivered. That would break the chain of distribution as they would go from Apple to UPS to Apple back to UPS for delivery. It would be easier for Apple to let UPS complete the process, limiting their liability of anything going wrong in chain of custody or transfer of the product.

BL.

Same boat here. Crazy-making! Hopefully tomorrow.

Did you finance it with the Apple Card? It’s possible they may not charge it until they print the label as it doesn’t need secured funds at time of shipment.

I had an auth on my card that has since fallen off. We won't be charged for real until we get the notice that it's shipped, likely tomorrow.
Glad to see others in my boat... Was getting worried since it seemed like I was the only one! I financed with Apple Card, so I guess that may be the reason.

Because your scenario suggests it’s either or. You can always add external storage and theoretically a thunderbolt 4 ssd should be as fast as an internal drive. You have 0 recourse for lack of ram.
The scenario is an assumed college kid asking if he should prioritize ram or storage, I don't anticipate them purchasing external storage anytime soon
In that scenario I'd be surprised how they'd have a lack of ram over storage in a college setting when they can just close programs, or else would be given a higher requirement by the program on the required hardware
Assumptions on top of assumptions which always leads to the best of advice

I hope everyone is having a good and blessed day. It’s super cloud here in Las Vegas, Nevada. Have not seen the sun all day today.

While looking at this photo below… Take a deep breathe 🧘‍♀️ Because, tomorrow, a storm is on the horizon.

Making sure you are ready for the excitement and anticipation.

I've resigned to the fact that I'm not going to see my order in the Track by Reference # on the UPS site and probably won't know the status until Apple marked my order as shipped. However, I've very confident that I'll receive my base 14" on Tuesday.

We will have more data tomorrow. I’m hoping people that are in Louisville, KY to receive their “IMPORT SCAN” soon. Once that gets hit to the system the package will be directed to the departure flight. From there it will head to its destination. All that will take place tomorrow. Tomorrow is going to be a very busy day for Apple and for UPS.

Expect a lot of UPS flights to be En-Route. Not just from Louisville, KY but all over U.S. because the Mac’s will be coming from the Apple’s distribution warehouse covering the east coast and west coast.

We do not have much time left to wait anymore.

Same here, ordered base 14” and still in PTS with the promised delivery date of Oct 26 marked as express delivery. Tried everything from my phone number with or without country/area code to order number on UPS but no luck.

College kid with what 10 tabs, a pdf text book, word open and constantly flicking back and forth?

I tested this yesterday and managed to use 16 on my outgoing mac.

Meanwhile, college kid assignment file size <10mb….

I tried this with my current book and all it really reminded me of is how disgusting chrome is
This is with 14 tabs, a 1,000+ page pdf, and excel and word
I would still say you can close tabs and be just fine, I didn't hit 16 in a 2020 intel but your results may vary

That’s good but throw in being in a rush, slamming back and forth between processes, the computer being ran for hours on end, some music and what a couple porns playing in the background and we are at what using the whole 16? There is no cheaper 24gb option unfortunately.
