My iMac is setup in my home music production studio. Tomorrow I will see how this new 14 inch M1Pro handles the music production by replacing the iMac. I'm expecting it to handle all the software such as Logic Pro, UAD Luna and plugins, and other plugins better or just as great as the iMac. Check out my iMac specs in my siggy and let me know if you think my MacBook will out perform my iMac.
Several people have complained about tapping the trackpad. I adjusted the trackpad in System Preferences to my liking and the trackpad is performing exactly the way I like.
Fit is perfect (2019 MBP disclaimer). Snug, but not overly tight - so I’m not gripping the chassis too tight in order to remove/insert. Maybe just a notch or two more resistance than when you unbox an iPhone, if you know what I mean. Super happy with the fit. For the M1Pro/Max MBPs, I think it would definitely be a tighter fit. And if you look at these pics - especially the edge one, mine is flush, and new MBPs is .09” more than the 2019 MBP. Maybe a little bit of the case would peek out…maybe. The new ones are also .08” wider. Not even .1” on either of those two dimensions would probably be well within the stretch of the leather. The biggest difference are the feet, which are substantially larger diameter on the newer MBPs. 16” to 16” may be fine (except for the feet) - but 13” sleeve on a 14” MBP…maybe a bridge too far.

The leather will stretch a little bit overtime, making it even easier to get the beast out.

something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. if someone was going to pay $2200 they could just pay and extra $400 or so and get a brand new machine.

The base models have definitely seen a drop, like the 13" models specifically.
My 14" 10 Core base is awesome.

Even though these machines are for professionals, apple has marked them up something stupid.
$2,999 for the 14” base model
$3,749 for the 16” base model
Lucky apple doesn’t ask for edu ID here on their EDU store, managed to save $309.
Might of been a non purchase otherwise.
I'm going to try use it exclusively from now on instead of the 14 to see if I can get used to it.

Charged it at 96% and 3 more times throughout the day at 90% started charging first time, every time. 🤔

Well UPS never shook loose my laptop today (still in ZhengZhou, Louisville, or an indeterminate point in between), but on the plus side I just watched this technical nerdy video and it answered basically all of my remaining questions for what I plan to do with the machine in a positive way, so at least there's that.
