So does everyone have to wait a long time for their shipment to leave ZhengZhou?

Because my shipment just ARRIVED at ZhengZhou like 6 hours ago... :(
Mine sat there for 9 days and finally left today. Apple has said all along that it would arrive November 9. UPS at first posted up a November 3 delivery date, but that came and went. So I guess November 9 it is... hopefully.

16” model gang.

The charging bug is real, not happening to everyone though. @TheYayAreaLiving @beach bum @LasersGoPewPew @julit0

Thanks for offering to check @beach bum no need now, appreciate it. 🙏

  • MagSafe charging bug on 16" (Idk if it happens on 14" or not. Please update), If your battery is below 80% (According to some it's only affecting it below 80%. I'm not sure of the exact percentage but i tested while mine was 50%) and then you turned off your MBP. and then closed the lid. When you plug in the MagSafe with the 140w charging, It'll turn amber and then chime, and just cycle all over again like it's stuck repeating. It doesn't seem to happen when turned on though.
It also seems like the issue is not widely spread.

WOW. FINALLY. Praying to Timmy Apple worked. Bye ZhengZhou…. I won’t miss you.

Now let’s see how quickly it gets from Incheon to Anchorage.
Ahh congratulations! Finally en route to Japan or Korea. Dang, you were stuck in China for a long time. Glad to see you moving. Happy and safe travels :)

It's great to see that many people who had their MBPs stuck in ZZ (mine since 10/29) got their laptops moving out.
Unfortunately, it looks like mine is still there, no updates, for me. Still `Clearance in Progress`.
Since there are no planes from ZZ on the weekends, I guess it is stuck at least till Monday.

@LFC2020 @beach bum I have a feeling we may not see a new M2 MacBook Pro until November, 2023. It looks like the year of 2022 may be skipped: I doubt Apple will follow a yearly upgrade plan with the 💻. Also, Apple is trying to catch up with the demand too.

Hopefully next year will not be expensive as this year 😶‍🌫️

Well UPS never shook loose my laptop today (still in ZhengZhou, Louisville, or an indeterminate point in between), but on the plus side I just watched this technical nerdy video and it answered basically all of my remaining questions for what I plan to do with the machine in a positive way, so at least there's that.

"Wherever it is" doesn't leave you with much warning of when it's going to arrive. The biggest two problems seem to be either a) routing loops where the package is going back and forth (possibly just being reported as such) or b) stuck in one place. Since the first may be that the package is actually lost and what looks like loops are actually "lack of possession" reports from the different points, it means you can report the unit lost more easily than if it's just waiting for cargo space to get out of ZZ. One can fault Apple for not contracting enough carriage out of ZZ, but it *will* get out eventually. A lost package is a different story and taking no action may be a bad path in that case. $0.02...

I also think the supply chain issues are going to take a while longer to shake out. Apple *could* introduce more product they can't supply, but are they more likely to wait until they can?

Which begs the question how long it takes for Apple to start opening fabs... I mean, when I was there, we'd never have imagined designing chips. Things happen...

Thankfully, my laptop departed from Zhengzhou and arrived at Incheon overnight. So it seems to be moving happily again. The cause for my confusion were twofold:

1. A vague customs-related notification out of Louisville on November 1
2. No intermediate scans or reassurance that they knew where the package was in the one week it was in Zhengzhou.

Really, that confusion comes down to very poor communication from UPS. If they had let me know "hey, this is in outbound China customs and we need it to clear" or "this facility is very backed up, we're still processing and it will be out as soon as we can" I would have been a lot less worried about it.

Amusingly, the "investigation" UPS opened yesterday about my package's whereabouts remains open. The international shipping guy I talked to on the phone was very insistent that the package was actually in Louisville. Whoops.

You're in the same position I am. But here's what I'm thinking.

If you went with the 10/14/16 configuration, there is only a $100 difference between the 10/14/16 and 10/16/16 configuration. Memory you'd be plenty okay on. So if you have the discretionary money available, you could save the money you'd spend on memory and bump up the disk space. The video comparing the memory between the 16GB and 32GB is very telling about how well the 16GB option is, so the value is better in the disk space.

I was going for the 10/14/16 option with 2TB, but for the extra $90 or so, going for the 10/16/16 is a steal.

BL.
I checked your spec (10/14/16 - 2TB) and because it's BTO, shipping estimates already pushed to 12/16-12/23!!! That would be hard on the elves and Santa to make it on time. Just wow.

Alright - We're on the wagon here! 🥳 Getting the next up standard 14" config. BTO options were pushing shipping dates out to Christmas (literally). All the discussion here helped narrow it down to a smart choice. I accidentally never changed the color of the machine - so had to make sure my lady was OK w the Space Gray. Now we match, so there's cute points going on there.😄

Cleaning house a bit by trading in two paper weights (machines) ($70: 2011 13"MBP i7/2.7G/500HDD and $290: 2015 13"MBA i7/2.2G/512SSD) - helps toward the AppleCare and the upped components a little.

It's going to move fast. It's probably in Anchorage by now, but if not, here are some options. Once you get a departure scan, it's pretty easy to figure out what flight it is on. Then you can figure out the options for PANC->KSDF after allowing some time for customs and package switching. Mine made it in a couple of hours the other day. Do the same for the last leg and you can pretty easily figure out when it will be on a local truck.

Congrats! You're going to love it!!

I think the MBP 14 is the most beautiful MacBook they've ever made.

If you have an Apple Store near you I would check stock. That config is usually readily available in Apple Stores. I got mine (which was very lightly scuffed) and then I got another one. A bunch of stores near me have had them in stock across multiple days.

My 14” is out for delivery!!! Yesterday at this time it was in Korea and now it’s already on a truck in Staten Island ?

Might not be able to open it today which is the WORST thing but it’s all good. Good luck to everyone else in their quest to get theirs delivered successfully
Hah, that's funny as mine finally arrived in Korea a few hours ago and UPS' revised delivery date is Wednesday for me.

To be clear, Wednesday would be fine. Earlier would be more fun, though.

I did - and there was one last night about 20 miles from me, and it was gone this morning. I'll definitely check stock periodically and I can cancel the online order if one comes through. I have to go through Apple to get the Veteran EPP discount - hence not looking to Best Buy or other.

I even checked Las Vegas (going next weekend) and nothing. The default location somehow was set at Washington, DC area and a TON of stores had that config available. Maybe they'll proliferate stock out west soon. Cheers!
