I am gonna go out on a limb and say US for our deliveries....These have been stockpiled in the US since the summer....

Also, the freight situation is pretty bad at the moment...
Good observation but I doubt it. Since they are delayed until November and December I have a feeling production is in place as we speak and they are coming from overseas. I could be wrong.

Unfortunately I was not able to order in time. I travel quite a bit for work and a deliver date beyond the 5th of November does not work. Does anyone know if they will be available in stores on the 26th? I need a 16” with 4tb drive or more. I can be flexible on the processor. Currently limping along with a 13” mbp 1tb that has run out of storage.

Edit: wow my signature really dates how long it’s been since I’ve posted. Long time reader of the forms!

Ouch! This one is painful to read.

Pent up demand for M1 based Macs, with increased work from home focus, and chip/electronic/shipping shortages being general knowledge. Makes sense for people who will probably use these for some kind of work to buy now instead of the eventual holiday rush.

Most likely coming from China, and we know Apple is not shy from using air freight in situations like a launch.

For those who have already ordered your Macs:

If you already have tracking on it, you can use Flightaware's iPhone tracker to also track your Mac:

Once you get a confirmation number for the shipping provider, you should be able to also see when it gets its departure scan. You can then take that time to the departing flight and track the flight in real time. This should work no matter where the departure scan is.

If you want to try your luck in-store I suggest you visit the most popular Apple Store in your general area, e.g for LA folks that's probably The Grove store, or for SF it's probably Union Square. Apple prioritize sending in-store stock only to the most popular stores for a given area when supply is low, and MBP supplies are seriously low. It looks like supplies are lower for these MBPs than they were for the iPhone 13 Pro series and it's super difficult to walk into an Apple store right now and pick up a 13 Pro.

I suspect it'll be difficult for you to get a 4TB model unless you buy a maxed out 8TB version. Good luck anyhow.

Last time I used Flightaware's iPhone tracker was for my iPhone 6 😂 Guess I'll be using it this time too.

Yeah I want to order one but I have a store gift card for a 15 inch that I traded in about a year ago. i also have my 13 inch that I would like to trade in and also use a Amex for the remainder. I can’t find a way to do this on line. Stoped in the store to try and make it work. When I told the genius that I wanted to order a Mac book he asked if I was aware they they just announced new ones. They didn’t have them in there system yet. I’m going to stop back tomorrow and try and get a order through. Just as a backup send it to a friends address.

No idea what Apple is smoking today but I texted Apple and told them if they can expedite my order for the new MacBook Pro M1 Max. This representative told me my delivery has been expedited 😂 I should receive my order on Oct 20th or OCT 21 😂 💀

yeah I doubt it...there is no way that the shipper is gonna break embargo...

well s*** I better try this trick real quick wtf 👀
The Apple rep can promise you the moon, but it is up to the shipper to make the delivery. Apple doesn't control logistics (not yet anyway), so at the end of the day, even if a lowly Apple Support rep told you that you will get it on 10/20 or 10/21, it is ultimately up to the shipper to keep the promise, which I doubt they will keep, as they are bound by Apple's stringent embargo policy. It doesn't matter if there is a note attached to it saying deliver on 10/20 or 10/21, the embargo has a higher precedence.

Edit: I tend to ramble..... sorry.

I've got to say I'm pretty excited about this update. I've been a die-hard Mac user since the early days (Apple IIc), and have always had an Apple desktop / laptop in my possession. OTOH, I've also been a PC nerd and presently have a PC desktop I built 1.5 years ago..... and it's a monster Ryzen unit. But, back on topic.

The last MBP I bought was about 8 years ago and I was planning on upgrading at the same time Apple started ruining the MBP with reduced ports, bad keyboard, etc. So I kept using the one I had. Then about 3 years ago I gifted it to one of the grandkids and bought a Dell XPS 13 for the great display and form factor. Last November I got the new MBA13 and it is FANTASTIC!! My only complaint is the display (for personal use reasons). Well, wifey got ahold of it one day and I thought I'd never see it again. I gave it to her for her birthday, and I'm back to using the XPS.

Today makes me VERY HAPPY, as it's apparent that Apple took all of the complaints seriously and built a fantastic laptop with an incredible display, and combined it with their monster SOC CPU. Enough adjectives? They ticked every box, and the display cinched the deal. It's been a long time since I've been this excited about a laptop. I just hope I can keep it in my possession for over a year!! But, I figure one of my grandkids will be side-eyeing it over the year and it also will become a hand-me-down present. But they're worth it.

Good thing I have 1 main job, and 2 side jobs. 😂

Everyone configures their new MBP to fit their needs, and they're all the right decision. We all want to max out the specs, but it's not the right decision if not needed. For my use, I take on average of 7,000 photos per year (most are full-frame DSLR), and 100 hours of video. I waffled over how to configure the new MBP14, and I decided to max out the GPU, so I got the M1 Max with 32 GPU cores and 32GB RAM. I still wonder if I should have got 64GB RAM, but for how I use it, 32GB should be fine. You have to stop somewhere!

If you didn't make the move this time, don't sweat it! There is always later, and they will always get better. My phones and laptops are always in a state of flux..... I never know when they'll be moving on. This year I ordered a new iPhone PM13, then ended up cancelling the order due to shipping delays and gave my iPhone 12PM to my grandson. Now I'm using a used Samsung Galaxy Note (because my 17 yr old granddaughter wants that so she'll be getting it for Christmas). I'll be getting my 13PM around my birthday.

Ciao

This one weird trick to get products shipped faster, Apple hates her.

Agreed. Hell, I was thinking of the 16-inch, but just seeing the extra performance that I would never put to use didn't make sense to me. 14-inch base config is more than enough for my needs...and I got a desktop with an i9/3090/16 GB RAM if I need to do some extra workstation-type tasks...

Checking the website, it looks like the M1 MAX configurations are really badly delayed, while M1 Pro is more or less pro-forma for a new launch.
