What size screen MacBook Pro (2021) did you order?

Not going to lie! The BlackBerry was on its prime time too. That classic QWERTY KEYBOARD is very sexy and looks so modern. It reminds me of the MacBook Pro.
I had one before getting my first ever iPhone

Never! My brain just cant process that many words at the moment lol
Don't worry, it'll make perfect sense in the morning lol
What if I told you I returned it?
I've got a feeling you're still not sure which way you're going.

Then where is my 120hz in Safari?
Apple said it's not ready yet lol, patience, the longer you wait, the more it'll be worth it.

Don't expect it to be as good as the iPhone 120hz, oled does 120hz better.

You'll still see ghosting from time to time 😳

But that screen and battery life though…
Your call 🤫 I'll only make it harder for you lol

Did you try a lower desk like someone mentioned yesterday, might help.
Please tell me you guys dont have a bet going on which one I’m going to keep lol
Nope, I've got no idea what you're doing anymore lol, I was going with the 16" they were saying 14"

Wow a lot has happened in the last few hours, same as others that have posted from my shipment group

so my mac is on its way to Anchorage right now on (thx @TheYayAreaLiving 🎗 for figuring out the flight number!! awesome)... and UPS is showing "Your package has cleared customs and is on the way." (an alert box I've never seen before) as well as delivery by tomorrow night... I'll be amazed if the delivery date is correct, but super happy it's finally out of China!!! 🎉🥳🎉🥳
It looks like you guys just have landed on American soil an hour ago. Anchorage, Alaska :). Not sure if you are already seeing a departure scan or not but you will be traveling overnight.. Making your way into Louisville, Kentucky :)

Are you going to return both MacBook Pro's? LOL!

I keep going back and forth.

I refuse to use my MBP until then. The iPad is just so buttery.

Did you not read my post yesterday? 🤦‍♀️

Hey all,

Long time lurker checking in from Japan.

Got a 10 Core M1 Max 24 Core GPU 32GB ram and 1TB hdd on order with a 4th to 11th December arrival date.

Upgrading from a top line stock model 2018 MBP (8GB ram / 512GB SD) which now has Applecare expired (didn't realise you could extend applecare till recently but have been witing for 2nd gen Apple silicon)

Heres my user profile
- I'm a coder by trade and run docker / Parallels
- I like to run games when I do have time.
- Watching videos
- I DONT do video editing / playing around with 100GB video files.
- I've struggled a bit with 512GB space from time to time - i have lots of apps / music but don't store tons of raw videos so thought 1TB should be more than enough when I have multiple NAS's

Just wanted to ask if people thought my choice of mchine sounded right ?

My reasoning is as below:
- 32GB should be more than enough to run Docker / Paralles - I have 32B in my desk 2018 Mac Mini and even with a 2GB virtual box + 2 IDE's + memory hungry firefox open I still have 3.7GB of ram free going 64GB for what I do just seemed overkill.
- I don't deal with large video files so thought on the basis that I'm just about managing on 512B that 1TB should do me plus when Transcend release a SSD card for the 14inch it will be cheaper than apples internal storage costs.
- I wanted M1Max just because I wanted the best CPU but as they're not anything bar benchmarking apps that can really push the GPU's right now thought I wouldn't really see the benefit of the extra GPU cores
- Well obviously price too :
a) A 1TB to 2TB SSD upgrade was $385USD (44,000 yen) (I can probably get an SSD card reader storage for much cheaper. Going from 1TB to 4TB would add nearly $1000 to the price (110,000)
b) Maxing out the memory didn't seem worth it when my use case suggests I won't push it THAT hard - again $385 to max out.
c) Obviously not forgetting that with apple care included I'm already spending like $3500 USD and adding those extras would hve pushed it over $4,000...just seemed ugh...

Tl:dr - save money on a pro and invest in ram and/or storage.

Given your workflow and the fact you’re not really doing any gpu intensive tasks, you’ll have no issues running on the pro chip. If you’re not into heavy gaming are you really going to notice a few less fps?

I started with a max and then have downsized orders twice now after seeing all the benchmarks and reviews. Decided that saving money from moving from a max and using that to bump up ram and storage on a pro was better value for me.

I’ve not had an M1 mac so my only baseline is the 2019 intel machines. It’s going to be night and day in terms of improvement! All the bench marks make a big deal of it taking 20% longer or 46 seconds more etc. that’s a mute point as my reference point is so low with the intel macs! Also if you don’t have a max mac to compare against, how do you know any better!

Also found the ‘max tech’ reviews the best for comparisons.

Well that's the thing I could hve got a "stock" Pro 16GB 1TB hdd top line 'stock' model on next day delivery from a local retailer but thought 16GB might in a year or two get a bit dicey especially with possible gaming via Parallels and other VM usage for development

Like I said I at least right now doubt I'll fill up 1TB based off current storge on my 2018 MBP (I don't do gigantic video editing) and even if I do I can easily get 256GB / 512GB form fitting SD card when transcend makes them available for the 14in and probably much cheaper than Apples cost.

The 44,000 for 16 - 32GB on the basis seemed worth it for VM's but at least right now I don't see me needing 64GB ? - other people have been commenting about how you will *know* if you need 64GB and maxing out is a waste of money. Like i said my 2018 mac mini still has plenty of free RAM and memory pressure is green / less than 50% with VM's running + 2 x dev IDE's + firefox with loads of open tabs + 2 x Node JS dev servers so it seems like 32GB is good fit.

So well M1Max chip was luxury upgrade for the sake of possible gaming and because 44,000 a piece for 32GB -> 64 and 1TB -> 2TB would have added $750 to already $3k spend.

Totally agree. I also downgraded from M1 Max to M1 Pro. I don’t need the graphics power, which is really all the max gives in real life. And the M1 Pro has better battery!
