I do like how Apple is kind of going back to there old ways- but trying to make it the products modern -

Back when I lived in Indianapolis, IN - I had a neighbor that owned a Chevrolet Dealership and I got to know him and his family a lot and his family was into Apple products and I think it he had a 1990's 17 inch MacBook Pro- and he let me feel it and kind of look around at it and I think I said this computer is heavy

I'm pretty sure that for those with no tracking info from UPS, apple just didn't actually ship out the laptops. They're probably just sitting in a warehouse for wtv reason. What also makes me say that is it's been a week the auth is still on my card. It never got charged to my card. Had it actually shipped they would have posted the charge.

So just checked the UPS app again and my tracking number is finally in the UPS system. Shipping from China, but no progress updates yet. Hopefully others who are waiting on UPS see something similar soon.

Is it giving you the same estimated date that apple gave you?

You must mean a 17” PowerBook G4 in the early 2000s. Certainly not the 90s!

The MBP line didn’t come until Intel (2006).

No estimated delivery in the app right now. “Check back tomorrow for an updated delivery date.”
It is shipping via UPS Worldwide Express Saver so seems like 2-3 business days. So maybe Monday (11/29) which would be 2 days before Apples estimate.

good stuff. Hopefully I get my information tomorrow!

Does anyone get AppleCare for MacBook? If so? Worth it? Especially with such an expensive device? I have never but considering. What’s the deductible?
TL;DR - Yes, I always buy it these days. It saved my butt recently on my 2016 MBP.

Yep. Considering it's a full 3 years warranty coverage plus accidental damage coverage, it's worth it. My 2016 MBP melted itself twice in the almost 3 years I owned it and on the 2nd instance all the TB3 ports wouldn't let any USB-C/TB3 connector lock in place anymore so they gave me my money back for the system. Not prorated or anything, full purchase price less the cost of the AppleCare. So I bought a 2019 MBP when it launched. My 2019 MBP started having weird overheat issues and shut downs and they replaced the logic board, but it was only a couple months old when that happened so AppleCare coverage wasn't necessary at that point. The 2019 has been just fine since, but that 8-core i9 runs HOT! My son took that off my hands Monday because he needed an upgrade to his 2014 MBP.

I've bought a few MBPs for employees too. Used accidental damage protection a couple times. People are not as careful with them if it's not their money I guess. :(

Looking back on it, I still consider AppleCare to be worth it. Even though I've only used it on the ones I've mentioned above and on an '08 Mac Pro. I've bought quite a few more than that, so my actual usage percentage is low. And yet the money recovered on my '16 MBP was worth buying it on several. On the flip side, most systems don't ever need it or the failures don't occur until AppleCare has already expired.

good stuff. Hopefully I get my information tomorrow!
Cheers
Yes!! Hopefully this means all of the UPS packages are starting to move to their delivery locations. I’m guessing and hoping that those with the same issue (tracking number but no movement) will see something tonight/early tomorrow as computers are scanned into the system. Probably on a large pallet being scanned individually.

I wonder if because you got your tracking on the 19th and i got it on the 23rd then I'm 4 days behind you... so i would get an update in 4 days. Or it may not work like that all. Time will tell .

That is what I meant the Powerbook really not sure what version it was , but it looked like this
I know that the Powerbooks had Powerpc Chips, then I think when Apple went to Intel they change the name of the computer to the MacBook Pro, when they change to Apple owns chip they kept the MacBook Pro name

I first met my neighbor that owned the Chevrolet dealer in in August of 1996 to August of 2007
it must of been a really early version of PowerBook because he had a Powerbook when I went over and we played Madden on playstation like every sunday
I think when I meet him he had the smaller Powerbook G3, in sometime in the 2000 he changed to the PowerBook G4

Doesn't the PowerBook look like a MacBook Pro

The first 17-inch Powerbook came out in 2003, and then the early Intel MacBook Pros used the same design with different ports and an iSight camera.

My UPS tracking finally started working. I got the shipping notification on Nov 19 but tracking number never worked until today. Tracking shows an export scan from Shanghai,China this morning. Delivery date is 1 day sooner than Apple’s quoted date.

I placed my order on Oct 22nd, and it’s been “processing since.” Still shows estimated arrival of Dec 8th, but order is still “processing.” How can it still be processing? When do they charge my credit card? Still no charge, and we are almost in December. I’m in the US, if that helps. Wondering what’s going on.

Up super late because of Thanksgiving holiday....and got an email from Apple notifying me of shipment. Of course, UPS has no info for this tracking number. Not surprised.

Ordered Nov 8; debit card been in pending authorization status for this payment since early morning Nov 22. I figure no reason for me to get excited until 1) UPS tracking actually shows scans; and 2) it is actually in the US.

They'll repair it if they can. If they can't (or think it's uneconomical to do it), they'll give you a "like-new" refurbished one as a replacement.
My mom I think she had a iPhone 6s and it kind of broke and we went to apple and they replaced with I think a refurbish phone since it was like in a white box not a normal box

With my order Apple estimated I would of got my laptop on November 26, but it came on Wednesday Nov. 24

I think that people that are getting there are from Apple Warehouses are pretty lucky compared to people who have there being made and shipping from China

Is BTO= Build to Order

Same. Previously UPS couldn't find my tracking number, now showing up as departed Shanghai, China with an estimated delivery of Monday. Two days earlier than Apple's estimate of Dec 1.

Going to be a long weekend! Should have gotten it delivered to the house and not work!
