Man, I don't even know what's going on anymore. I've purchased plenty direct from Apple online and never have had a transaction go this way. Supply chain/pandemic/shipping backlog can seriously suck it.

Ordered Nov 8
Paid with PayPal (had soem cash in the account + linked to one of my bank account's debit card)
PayPal showed payment in "pre-authorization" morning of Nov 22; my bank showed payment as a pending transaction from this time

Nov 23, order went into "preparing to ship"

~2:00AM local time Nov 25, shipping notice email from Apple....UPS tracking #, as expected, was of no use

Nov 26, I think, PayPal payment went to "payment" (as opposed to "pre-auth")...the cash I had in my PayPal account was applied, so PayPal balance shows as $0.00, as it should.

As of right now, tracking # still not showing up in UPS.

But what's interesting, my bank no longer has my payment to Apple as even a pending transaction.... It's as if no payment was ever made. It had been showing as a pending transaction in my bank account since Nov 22, but now it's not even showing. Weird.

Good for you! I have same Nov 8 order date as you (16" M1 Pro 32GB 1TB), but am a day behind you on being charged (Nov 22) and two days behind on shipping label created (Nov 25). UPS system still has nothing for my tracking # and as noted upthread, now my bank no longer shows a payment to Apple (even though PayPal does)!!! LOL...I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

My 14” M1 Pro 32/1 is now expected to be delivered tomorrow despite the UPS tracking history only showing label created. Guessing this is wrong and it won’t be delivered tomorrow, but I shall see. If so, pretty good. Ordered November 3, expected delivery was December 8-15, then moved to December 3, now this.

EDIT: Updated to December 3 delivery and has received both the origin and first clearance scan.

If you still have a tracking number from UPS, then you're okay. I wouldn't worry about that yet, unless UPS pulls the tracking number. At the very least, you can call UPS and verify that the tracking number you have received is a valid tracking number. If it is, then you're good to go.

One thing people have to realize is that just because they get a tracking number does not necessarily mean that the item has shipped and is en route. Here's a good example.

Consider the "Shanghai purgatory" people have been talking about here, where they get departing and arriving scans all in Shanghai. What is happening is that at the UPS distribution center there, all of the pallets containing the Macs to be shipped have to be tracked. They'll get a departing scan from there (Leaving the facility), to get to the airport. When they get to the airport, they get scanned again (Arrived at facility). There, all of the pallets "compete" (lack of a better word) for that sought after space on an airplane.

Those that get on a flight get the even more sought after Departure Scan, indicating that they are on a flight. Those that do not get on a flight just don't stay at the airport; they have to be tracked per chain of custody. So those that miss a flight get sent back to the Distribution center, getting the "Leaving the facility" and "arriving at facility" scans, all being in the same city. They try their luck again the following day for the next set of flights.

All of this happens with a customer's tracking number, despite the fact that there was no movement of their Mac outside of the same city it has been in the entire time. But as long as there is a tracking number for your Mac,

As of right now, tracking # still not showing up in UPS.

So right now, you no longer have a tracking number with UPS?

But what's interesting, my bank no longer has my payment to Apple as even a pending transaction.... It's as if no payment was ever made. It had been showing as a pending transaction in my bank account since Nov 22, but now it's not even showing. Weird.

Did the funds get refunded back to your Paypal account? And your bank account should have an ID for the transaction that shows that the Apple payment was pending. This is important because this is the paper trail for the payment. What you're saying is that it sounds like the authorization was made, but not only was the capture of the funds made, but the authorization for it is now gone as well. If that was the case, you should get hold of Apple to see if the order for your Mac is still valid, because the request for the payment (the authorization) was made, and now isn't there.

Also, if the preauth was there, and the pending transaction was there, it should show you what the pending balance would have been after that transaction. Did your balance go back up, or did it stay where it was at after the pending transaction? If it stayed, then the payment went through; if it went up, then the transaction didn't go through, meaning, you hadn't paid for the Mac.

I ask the banking questions, because I've worked both at a bank as a systems administrator, as well as a company that processed credit card transactions and other PCI data and stored that data for fraud analysis, so I am very well familiar with how the funds are processed in a credit card transaction.

---When I click on the "Track shipment" link from the Apple order page, it takes me to UPS tracking but still shows this:

Screen Shot 2021-11-29 at 1.36.06 AM.png

---Regarding payment: PayPal still shows a completed payment, and my cash balance was applied towards purchase, so my cash balance is now $0.00.

My bank previously showed the payment (via PayPal) as a pending transaction, but tonight, it is not showing at all. Payment is removed; my bank balance is as what it would be without the laptop purchase. Ughhhhhh....this isn't good, huh? It's weird that PayPal still shows a completed payment effective Nov 25; if I click on the invoice link on my Apple order page, it liekwise shows an invoice date of Nov 25. But yeah...my bank shows no payment now.

Were the funds returned back to PayPal? If they were, I'd get hold of Apple and ask WTF. If they weren't, I'd still get hold of Apple and ask WTF, because this sounds like either they have info for tracking that UPS hasn't fully provided, or they've taken payment and something has happened to the order for it to be cancelled without returning all of the funds for that order.

Finally. 16” M1 Pro 32GB / 2 TB has been marked as shipped via FedEx. Ordered Nov 10

Apple says delivery Dec 8. FedEx doesn’t give a date yet but shows it’s in Shanghai

My big question is that I would love to pick this up at a local FedEx location so the package doesn’t get stolen as I live in a big city metro area. I don’t see that option, just a vacation hold which just delays normal delivery. Has anyone been able to redirect their package (meaning to a FedEx location)? Normally FedEx let’s me do this but if the shipper has put limitations on the package the customer can’t. Wondering if the option will appear after it gets out of customs?

Supposed to be arriving today but still seems stuck in TN with last scan saying import release. Anyone else have this situation?

Have been in Memphis since Wednesday. I’m worried now either my package got lost, or is just stuck. I was sure I would have movement this morning. It should be at my local hub by now.

I think this is unnecessary. Give it another day or two. Mark my words - The tracking will update and the fulfilled transaction will post at the bank.

I got my tracking # late Friday (Nov 19 east coast Canada) but it didn’t update in UPS until Wednesday. The label wasn’t created until Nov 25 ( local time in China) which would have been Wednesday my local time.

Apple shipping notification and tracking # is almost a placeholder while the laptop is being assembled.

UPS will update but it might take 4-5 days.

Like with mine had Fedex tracking and I think what Fedex kind of knows the Pallet tracking number which they call a Master Tracking Number - so I think that way I think Apple Can track the Pallets, and Apple then gives us a tracking some Apple Customers can track- I think what happens - I think some from Fedex is t the Factory and scans the Customer Tracking number than the factory fulls a pallet then Fedex scans the Master Tracking number, then they take and the pallet starts there journey - If the pallet that has shipping labels hiding or in stacking in the middle of the pallet since they can see it so they can't scan it , but like the ones that are on the edge they can the barcode to scan so I think they only scan the barcodes they see and the master tracking. Then when it gets to HUB they breakdown the pallets are start sorting he items then they scan the ones that they could not scan

I think certain Fedex Services deliver on Sundays since I just saw Fedex truck in my neighbor yesterday - You know I did get my MacBook Pro the day before Thanksgiving

Called Fedex. They don't know why my package has been stuck in Memphis since last Wednesday. Contacting Apple now. I know all of this is useless. Why does it seem that everything I order always has shipping issues.

Of course my empty trade in box comes no problem....

PayPal continues to show this as a completed transaction; money has **not** been refunded, and again, the ~$400 cash balance I previously had in PayPal is gone, and applied towards payment. I know....I should probably contact the labyrinth known as my bank's customer service, but I know what they'll say: sorry, we are not showing a pending transaction with Apple on your account.

I am trying to chat with Apple right now.

$10 says they’ll say all is well and ask for your patience. See my post above.

Ugh. Jealous seeing people with movement! Ordered 11/02/2021, 16" 10/32/32GB/1TB...still stuck on order processing. Saw the machine in person at Best Buy the other day...so pumped!
