Finally got it last night, my god this is a beast. Did some photo uploads in lightroom and ediitng. Just insanely quick compare to my 2017 MBP. Now time to sell my 2017 lol
Yeah. I've received the 14" 10/16/16 16gb 1tb machine just as a test to see if it would do the job. I was worried about Motion 5 with the very demanding Nodes 3 plugin. So, I installed that first as I didn't want to waste my time with anything else until I tried that.
It breezed it. I noticed today on my 2018 Mac mini i7, 32gb, Vega 56 eGPU 8gb that the main thing to be hammered was the CPU. When running it all the fans on the mini come on, the eGPU... the only fan not to come on was the ceiling fan. The new M1 pro... barely got warm, no fans, no swap and no fuss.
Now loading the rest of the apps etc to see how it goes but that one was the real stress test. It's a heavy nodes computational motion graphics plugin. Set to 4k 60fps at it's highest render and resolution settings and it hit out 45-55fps. Faster than my main desktop?!? If this continues I may end up cancelling the M1 Max... with the discount at Amazon, it would be ÂŁ800 saving!
Every now and then over the last month I was looking. But just for a day and then it was gone. It's pretty random what they get. You pretty need to check first thing in the morning and then again mid-day.
Ordered a BTO Space Gray 16" M1 Max 32C 32GB 2TB on December 26th in the US, scheduled for delivery Feb 21 - Mar 4th, but just hit pending charges today. Suspect it will ship soon based on previous Apple orders when they get charged/shipped.
Edit: Delivery went from Feb 17 to 14, but FedEx delivered early Feb 11. Really surprised no signature required.

I ordered on the Same Day as well. BTO 16" M1 Max 32C 64GB 2TB but on apple card. I Can't tell on my end as the card has been in pending since Dec 26th. But lets hope Mine gets shipped soon too

Sold my similar equipped 2019 i9 16".
Given Feb 8-21st window on order... got email from Apple last week saying delivery the 14th... then this morning I get Fedex email that I can delivery today 10am they didn't even stay for signature.Light rain here so they put it in plastic bag by door and rang bell...
So it was 8 weeks total and so far its perfect. checking as much as one could do when setting up which I did as new since basic data populates from iCloud while I transfer large stuff thru usb stick.
Downloaded most apps from App Store and was up and running including my import of music library and phone sync in 3 hours start to finish.
Hope the rest of you have good luck with earlier than expected deliveries.

I ordered the same machine from the NZ Apple Store on the 16th of December, still hasn't shipped...
I just got the shipping notification. Scheduled delivery is February 14, a week ahead of the delivery estimate.
Did you get 32GB of RAM or 64GB? When I ordered mine, upgrading from 32GB to 64GB added 2 weeks to the shipping estimate. Mine was scheduled for 14-24 Feb after ordering on the 16th of December, got a shipping notice overnight to say it's arriving on the 17th...

That'll explain it! It seems the majority are receiving towards the start of the estimated delivery bracket apart from a lucky few.
Murphy's Law has it arriving the day after the delivery of my first big GFX job of the year. At least I'll have time to set it up but would have been nice to have a bit more computer power for the deliverables.
Up and running with my new 16 inch M1 Max, 32/64/4TB. Loving the 16 inch screen. I find the size and weight very comfortable in general.
No problems connecting to an external Dell monitor and Apogee Ensemble audio interface via OWC Thunderbolt 4 hub. External Apple mouse connected instantly via Bluetooth but not my Apple keyboard. It keeps rejecting the connection. Ideas?

I am waiting on my 14" Max, maxed out (except storage)... ordered 18th December, hopefully I get a shipping notice soon...
Adorama has several configurations of both the 14" and 16" model available for pickup tomorrow.
