Wow! MBP 16” M1 Max 10/32 64Gb 8TB ordered April 26th with predicted date of June 13 - 27. They attempted to charge today but there was an error with info so called and full amount was just charged. I know I'm close to the predicted date but I was really expecting to get a delay.
Sat in China for days before going to Korea and then Anchorage very quickly. With my studio, it departed Anchorage at 3pm and made it to me the next day - predicted arrival date from UPS. This time it didn't leave til 6pm, predicted arrival Tuesday, it's changed though so I'm hoping that 3 hours doesn't mean another full day? Either way I'm pretty happy as at one point I wondered if I'd even get this before August :) good luck to everyone else waiting!

I have to agree here. This doesn't appear to be Apple's issue, as you are also going through a VAR, and the VAR is more than likely having trouble fulfilling your order. I ordered a BTO as well on March 2nd. I received it on March 24th. That was ordered directly through Apple. I'd suggest going directly to the source rather than relying on the VAR, because the VAR will have issues as well that they will pass on to you, making their issue your issue.

This is good advise. I'd just add that going through a VAR can be a good idea if they have them in stock. B&H here in the US is stocking 16/32/64 GB models ready to ship immediately. Always look around, but if ordering, directly through Apple is the way to go.

Waiting since March 20. B&H stock looks tempting, but Apple Education pricing & Apple Card installments is more tempting.

Availability is a short term thing. the pricing, payment method, and return window make ordering from Apple a lot easier. If it is stock that is the issue, Apple may have what you are looking for already in their warehouse, so that could eliminate the advantage B&H may have. If it's BTO, I would definitely still go through Apple.

On March 20 ordered 16" M1 Max 24 core 32 GB RAM 512 GB SSD.
Original delivery date: April 28 - May 5. April 27 came, dated got pushed to mid June.
I cancelled.
On April 28 ordered same config but with 64 GB RAM instead. Delivery date is: June 15 - 29.
Wondering if I had kept the first order if I also would have switched to "preparing to ship".
Pushed myself a month behind in line by cancelling.
B&H photo has had plenty stock come & go, but with Apple Education store pricing & Apple Card monthly payment, I rather wait & take the delays & go directly thru Apple.
Plus B&H photo has no return policy once opened.
changed to preparing to ship today!

Since the Air announcement Monday, I ended up ordering a 14" 10 core MBP M1 Pro / 16 / 1TB from Costco this morning. It'll be here on Tuesday. With Costco I ended up getting around 4% back (between Costco Executive + Costco Citi card) with 4 yrs of warranty between the two.

Looking forward to upgrading my personal 2013 MBP and my 2015 MBP for sure! The 2015 MBP has been running REALLY hot with Java / Docker deploys and Microsoft Teams.

This is exactly the same MBP model that I ordered from Costco. I think you'll be quite pleased.

Finally received my 16" MBP yeseterday. Order date was March 29th, 2022. Delivery date June 10th, 2022. Better than the estimate of July 20th, 2022 that the Apple store was showing.

Loving the speakers on the 16".
Keyboard is much better than the 2016 13" MBP I had.

Weight is much heavier than I expected. I had the 17" Powerbook as my main machine for much of the 2000's but 20 years on and I'm not as keen lugging something as heavy as this around all day every day. Will predominantly be a desktop that I can move around.

I recently purchased as ASUS SCAR STRIX with i9-12900K and RTX3080Ti to do my real work on in Ubuntu. Setting up an ARM64 and x86 terminal was a pain, but finally have miniconda3 and miniforge running. Compared to running on the ASUS though, it is much slower. I'll use the MBP for MS Office and personal use and ASUS for my scientific work under ubuntu. Windows 11 ARM seems to run really well under parallels, but likely will just stick Windows on my ASUS and keep the MBP as MacOS only.

A well-worth-reading article has been posted by AppleInsider. It’s worth reading. It goes into details and justifications why Apple’s MacBook Pro 14” and 16” is the best laptop in the market.

So I was reading this and it mentioned something about fast charging causing the laptop (in this case, a 16”) to heat up pretty bad? Anyone has the same experience?

”Fast charge does cause incredible heat around the mid-section of the keyboard. We measured about 124F during a fast charge session, which makes us wary of the effects on overall battery health with use.”

Personally, I haven’t experienced any issues with it. The laptop itself charges pretty fast.

I’m not sure why it reported 124F during a fast charge session. Maybe they had too many files open, not enough storage, ram? Lots of things go in the background.

I'm going to begin to feel for those still on the bubble for going with the M1 Pro let alone the M2. If they wait any longer, not only are you going to be bumping into the next release (should there be one), but also the further supply chain issues with everything going on politically in the area, and the reported intentions of deliberately holding up supplies.

That's going to make for a hard gamble in the next couple of months, so if anyone is on the bubble, you may want to seriously think about pulling the trigger on buying one, as we'll becoming up into uncertainty in the next month or two..

I wouldn't want to be the last person to have bought an Intel based MBP.

Order a MacBook Pro 16 (M1 Max 10/24, 32 Gb memory, 1TB SSD) from Apple on the evening of Monday 8/1. I choose Free Shipping on it but it was delivered by 11am today! I am amazed how fast I got it.

When ordered shipping estimate was 8/17. It shipped from China within 24 hours and the tracking said 8/10, then During transit it stayed on 8/8 until this morning when it updated for delivery today.

Just had time to get it setup. First impression is it isn't as big and unwieldy as some would have let me to believe. I briefly had a 14 inch MacBook Pro but decided to go bigger. Already very happy I did. This is my very first Mac experience. I went a little crazy. :)

When did production and shipping on these improve so dramatically? When I was last looking into one, shipping was a month out at least.

Yours isn't too bad for BTO, but it was more than likely there was that BTO option already in the country prior to your ordering, so they just pulled it from the stock at Apple's warehouses and it was sent.

Honestly, I'd be more happy that you have it than worry about how fast the shipping went, because the way things are going, I'd expect shipping dates to slip for everything: Apple, non-Apple, or otherwise.
