This is interesting concerning Apple.

Peter Zeihan: SUPPLY CHAIN, Electronics, LOCKDOWNS, Apple Inc.

March 16th order of 16 inch m1 max with 64gb ram and 1tb ssd had originally delivery date as may 22nd-29th. Around may 15th I got the push from June 7th-22nd. Looked earlier today and it was processing but it has officially switched to preparing to ship. I’m so excited. The wait has been terrible. But
I had to pull myself together. My kids are watching and I’m always telling them you need some patience but I can’t take my own advice!!!
Shipment email came around 3am last night. It only says label created but has an estimated delivery date of May 31st. I can't wait!! =] In some ways the time between shipment and delivery feels even longer lol

Has anyone else whose MBP was "Picked Up" earlier in the week got it still stuck in Shanghai with DHL (mine is coming to the UK). Mine has been stuck like this for over 48 hours now.

That sounds normal. While it’s been picked up from the factory, it has made its way to the distribution center. From there they get picked up and taken to the airport to wait for a flight to go on. If it doesn’t make a flight that day, it will get taken back to the distribution center.

Wash/rinse/repeat until it gets into a flight. Essentially, it is fighting with other products for that lucrative space on a plane.

I annoyingly had Apple put a hold payment down $5800 for a 16” MBP. Not due for delivery until 7/7 to 20/7.

Bloody annoying as that wipes out my credit card for 2 months.

So had absolutely no movement for days but then overnight has arrived in UK, been processed and on it's way to delivery depot now. Hopefully be here Monday. Also no tracking from being picked up to arriving in the UK - I wonder if it was part of a larger batch that was shipped in bulk from China and now tracking as an individual package in the UK.

They won't hold it for more than a few days at most. They removed the hold almost immediately (think they are just checking the card). Then there was a further hold a few days before shipping that was cancelled. The card was finally properly charged around the time of shipping.

This could be. If it was close to a base model or that your location could be closer to one of their warehouses, Apple could opt to shop it to their warehouse, then let the carrier pick it up from there for delivery instead of letting the shipping carrier handle all of the shipping from factory to you..

Must be normal.
Mine is showing at the first stage of 'Shipment Picked up' and has sat there since 27th May.
Going by your example Im not expecting it to move for a couple of days now!

Well, I placed my order for an M1 Max 16” on the 2nd of November 2021 with the Australian reseller, The Good Guys. After over 6 months of waiting, I pulled the plug and got a full refund.

I’ll consider trying again in a few years, maybe next time there is a major upgrade. Maybe M3?

Two weeks ago, my 2018 MBP turned into a brick unexpectedly. I’ve taken it to an Apple store, and they have promised to fix it for free. So we will see what happens, might be new logic board.

Anyways, considering Apple can’t sell us new MBPs without an unreasonable delay (2 months even direct from Apple), at least they can fix old ones.

Hi all, do you have any experience about changing the order configuration and how that affects shipment times?
I have an order of a macbook pro placed 2 months ago which is about to be shipped (still in processing status but apple tried charging my card in the last few days multiple times and the estimated delivery range is the next 2 weeks). The order configuration is still possible to change using the official customer service phone number of my local country (Hungary), but I wonder if I do that, will the shipment be delayed by another 2 months? The change I would make is simply the keyboard, no other configuration option.

I’m in Australia. Placed order for 16” M1 Max with 64GB RAM and 2TB SSD. Order placed March 2022. Unit just shipped.
Perhaps try directly via Apple.

I have to agree here. This doesn't appear to be Apple's issue, as you are also going through a VAR, and the VAR is more than likely having trouble fulfilling your order. I ordered a BTO as well on March 2nd. I received it on March 24th. That was ordered directly through Apple. I'd suggest going directly to the source rather than relying on the VAR, because the VAR will have issues as well that they will pass on to you, making their issue your issue.

How is Costco have much shorter delivery times for base MBP models?

Costco has $200 off 16” 16 GB 512 base model for $2249. I checked shipping dates: Silver to be delivered as early as Wed. SG by Friday.

Probably because they bought enough of theirs in bulk to have them shipped to their own warehouses. So when you buy from Costco (now that they have supply), the shipping dates will be faster, as they are only going from Costco's distribution center to a Costco warehouse location, or from a Costco distribution center directly to your delivery address.

Yup. My 14-inch MBP with 10-core CPU and 16-core GPU, 16GB of RAM and 1TB SSD took only a few days to be delivered by Costco. The key is that they already had it in stock in their own warehouse. The downside is you have to take standard builds without any real customization. I thought the trade off was more than fair - particularly with a $250 discount from Costco. And even though I might have wanted to go for 32GB of RAM, I am very happy with the machine and don't miss the extra RAM.

Wow! MBP 16” M1 Max 10/32 64Gb 8TB ordered April 26th with predicted date of June 13 - 27. They attempted to charge today but there was an error with info so called and full amount was just charged. I know I'm close to the predicted date but I was really expecting to get a delay.

The pipe should start to open up now. Today is the day that most parts of Shanghai come out of COVID lockdown, so as long as the people over there behave, shipments should start flying (no pun intended) out of there in good order.

The DHL shipping label actually has "BREAK BULK EXPRESS" on it.

Worst slippage yet 3rd time, its gone from April 20 - 28th to June 1st - 15th 😢
2nd time was painful enough, they even charged me then dropped it back onto my card 7 days later when date slipped.

Finally got charged a second time, and this time status changed to preparing to ship.
Shipped on 28 May, signed up for delivery updates. No shipping updates all week just remained on "picked up on 28th May", then all of a sudden today I got a DHL out for delivery notification!
