I really want to see the Optical drive get cut and a move to solid state blades....
Anyone wanna buy a MBP?

I would really like to have USB 3, but I doubt they will implement that. Lightpeek sounds nice, but USB 3 is ten times faster than USB 2, which is a lot in my opinion. Transferring a few gigs of pics will be a matter of a few seconds.
Personally I think the weight is good (and I have a current 17" model), the battery life is good, and the Superdrive is fine. If I was Apple I'd continue to keep the "Pro" line and the priorities of the "Pro" line separate from the white MB's. I agree with many of your assessments for the "White" line, as this is the consumer product. Make it lighter, make the Superdrive external, etc. With the Pro line however, I think the priorities *should* be different. It's unfortunate, IMO, that the Pro machines are more or less considered by most as the upgraded version of the MB, and not their own line targeted to a different set of users, the professional user.
As a Pro user, give me more cores in my processor at the cost of battery life. Give me the standard camera over HD, because the isight camera is really only a "bonus" for me since I don't chat on Facetime to my friends all day. Keep your SSD because I need the scratch space and a SSD will fail prematurely if you use it for this. Give me more ports. Give me the most RAM possible.
On my SSD comment, keep in mind I'd love to have an SSD in mine, but only if I can also have a standard HD as well so I can keep the OS on the SSD for speed, and everything else on the other HD. I've been setting servers up like this for years, and it works great.

HD is defined by vertical resolution only. So if it's greater than 720 horizontal lines then it's HD.
Er, not quite. It's defined by vertical resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio.
1024x768 is a 4:3 ratio and is not classed as HD. This is why 1366x768 was a popular resolution on HDTV's before 1080p panels became cost effective - you can drop the vertical resolution down to 720 and still have a 16:9 aspect ratio.

I would be interested in them, but as Apple is starting to feel more like a hardcore monopoly than Microsoft ever did.... With no Blu-Ray and locking down program sales on iphone/ipads, censoring software that can be used on devices.
I am starting to think of getting an HP Beats laptop or maybe a Sony Vaio as a replacement for my MBP.
13" MacBook Pro gets dedicated graphics.
i hate to be the one to break this to you, but the macbook pro thats about to be released will be expensive and will be superseded by a newer version sometime in the next year.
ditto this
Has done for years...
hey so im new can someone explain to me whata SATA port is?
So a 1920x1200(!= 16:9) screen isnt HD? Um, not sure I'd agree. Youre totally right that "720p" and 1080i became the consumer flag of "HD"...but thats from a sales/marketing perspective.
Do you think the retail stores will sell out of MBPs on the day they're released? I'm not familiar with how hectic the stores are on laptop refresh days...
I bet we see the DVD drive dropped in the next 5 years.. I see this as a major modification so most likely not in this revision although, I'd give up the DVD drive for additional drive space and an external DVD drive.
I think Apple should focus on using higher quality materials rather than adding features and making the machine slimmer. After two years of use, my late 2008 MBP has a swollen battery, a dysfunctional superdrive, a failing graphics chip, a trackpad that won't click, and a left fan that isn't spinning.
My Apple source said the same thing, but I'm not sure if I believe him, since he is just a fat kid that works in the produce department at Wal-Mart. He was so wrong about them getting in Red Delicious Apples in last week that I just doubt him now as a reliable Apple source.
Magic 8 Ball says NO
If we could predict the future we would be getting rich not hanging out here.
