If they really think that a 3 month wait is completely acceptable then so be it, but I don't have to.

...waiting for Vista and then deciding on what to do. This is not the first time that Apple have provided incredibly poor service and I am tired of it. At least in the Windows world I am not reliant on one producer or supplier for my hardware. If one screws me then I switch to another.

I don't have solid dates in my head but wasn't Vista originally supposed to be ready much sooner than the end of this year (& will it be ready then)? Just pointing out people must WAIT on Microsoft for the main OS.

And here's my little peeve.....those coupon-like pieces of paper inside some Apple things I've bought in the last 6 years, implying I wil get a future discount with the coupon.....like a REWARD for being LOYAL......what's with that? NEVER! I pay the same prices as any newbie, yes? I'd love to see $30 off an OS upgrade or iLife upgrade for being a good loyal customer.

took orders in January with a February shipping date and they are not delivering to that.
Yet thousands ARE getting their orders, including two people I know very well just got them delivered today. As pointed out in this and other threads, Apple didn't give an exact date just February yet many are shipping in February, even some that people ordered late on. Your point is suspect at best.

Then there is the ongoing Apple policy of scre*ing the resellers in order to increase their own revenue.
Except CDW and MacMall had some in fact and have been shipping them, in some cases people were better off going to some resellers than Apple because they had less back order. You think Gateway did differently with their barn stores? They didn't BTW. It's the sad truth of vendor retail vs. direct channel, welcome to retail buddy.

I for one will continue to use Apple under the condition that Vista will not be as good as OSX. If however Vista has proved me wrong and shows that it is secure and dependable as well as easy to use when I am next in the market for a new computer, then I WILL switch to Vista and leave Apple behind. I have no loyalty to a company that cares so little for its clients and which, day by day, turns into the bohemoth that believes that all that matters in the underlying profit and the maximisation of that at any cost.
Why are you here, seriously? Secondly, you think Microsuck treats it's users any better? Considering it's their haphazard abject ignorance that creates the same problems they make people often pay to fix, how do you justify your (misguided) moral stance here. It's like saying "I'm so sick of company x, they're like Fidel Castro, so I'm going to go with company y because they're like Hitler."[/QUOTE]

Apple was supposed to represent something different where it was loyal to us and we were therefore loyal to them.
So you think Microsuck is MORE loyal to their customers. Wow man, I mean... wow... just wow.

I have to use a computer and if both Apple and Microsoft have the same scr*w you policy then I will go with the one that results in me having the least hassle.
OHHHH, I didn't realize this earlier but clearly now I get it, your post wasn't serious, it was HUMOR!!! "The one the results in the least hassle" is Microsuck?!? How silly of me, You... you sir, are get a Nobel for sarcastic use of literary GENIUS!!

Firstly I apologise for upsetting you so much. You obviously have a lot of emotion invested in Apple and are a little vulnerable to any attack on the sacred cow.

I was referring to Europe as you would see if you read my earlier posts.

As you noted later I was referring to the least hassle. Now I admit that Windows sucks at the moment and was never claiming otherwise. But Vista looks to improve on XP 10 fold. Now that does not mean that it will better OSX, but my loyalty to Apple is not blind and I will switch if it is better for me.

So let me just clarify this one last time. When I buy Apple I am completely locked in for both hardware and OS. Apple has stopped shipping to my location and so I am left in the lurch. NO OTHER COMPUTER VENDOR HAS DONE THIS. The holy cow that you defend so blindly is dropping a loyal customer base in the lurch.

Your argument is just rude and sarcastic and you obviously lack the wit and intelligence to put together anything of substance, so I end my post rather than respond any further.

Edit: I have read over some of your posts. There tends to be a supercilious vein to many of them. You obviously do not like those that think differently. How ironic!

That is really awesome packaging. Now I would like to see loads more pictures of the actual computer. I would love a chance to just get to touch one of those machines. It will be another 4-6 months before I will be able to afford one, *IF* I am able to afford one in 4-6 months. It will be the best computer that I have ever owned!

*dreams of the day he owns his own MacBook Pro...

Its Here!

Something to play with when I get home then.:p ;)

Interesting!

Mine's taking a similar route, so it's interesting to see how long each "hop" takes. Only problem is - once mine reaches the UK, it's going to be repacked and sent via courier to Cork which just adds another day or two delay. Aaaaaah! ;)

You might be happy you're waiting!

My MacBook Pro 2.0 custom order (100GB 7200RPM drive and 2 512MB DIMMS) just arrived this morning, and guess what? It's D.O.A.!!

Apple just emailed me a return shipping label so back it goes, and have to do this whole thing all over again! Argh!!

im so sorry to hear that ****.

I recieved my 1.83 stock macbook pro today. I'm really happy about it. Although I do notice the faint humming sound from under the screen. Its not unbearable, but I do hope apple will end up by fixing this.

SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME TODAY!!!

Brand new (nice box) 1.83 Intel powered MacBook Pro ... DEAD ON ARRIVAL!

The startup screens took me through until the photo/video recording -- then the machine went real slow -- now it will not allow me to boot at all.

UNBELIEVABLY BAD CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE, STEVE....

Amazon order

I have been following, these post for about the last month or so. For those of you considering purchase of a new Macbook, I thought I would pass on a little tidbit.

Amazon.com is now shipping. I ordered my stock 2.0 early sunday morning 2/26/06, and it shipped from Kentucky today. The real bonus is a $150 rebate and as it turns immediate shipping as there does not appear to be a backlog of orders as with Apple directly.

This is my first mac, though I have been very intrigued since the launch of OSX, and now doubly so since the switch to intel. I am a long time Unix/Linux user and am very excited about the prospects of the X11 environment on the new intel mac. I am going to begin re-compiling tons of native linuxX86 software as soon as it arrives.

Also, as I have a number of windows apps that already run very well in linux by way of WINE (photoshop, office etc), I can't wait to get started fiddling with it. I am also planning on trying the crossover office (for linux), in X11.

If anyone is interested I would be glad to keep you all posted of my success or possibly failure, This is my first mac afterall.:D

I am looking forward to happy MAC days ahead.

Once they prepare to grab your $$$

Does anyone have an idea how long shipping has been after they access your cash. I noticed today may credit card had been tapped. I'm tenatively excited.
Should I be?

mine must not have required any pre-authorization
or anything, because it charged when it shipped.

So this is a summary of how my order worked:

I ordered on February 2.

They estimated my ship date at Feb. 28.

Then the upgrade came and they changed
the estimated ship date to March 8.

On Feb. 24, the Macbook shipped and it
is estimated to arrive on March 2nd.

The "delay" for the upgrade was not a
real delay on my order. I'm actually
getting it EARLIER than the ORIGINAL
estimated delivery.

Pretty sweet stuff. Two more days!

Reassurance.....please

I ordered the macbookpro on the day of the jan keynote and should be getting it next week. Have heard some people saying that the 15" powerbook is better even though you cant really get one now. Did I do the right thing in rushing out to order the pro?? Anyones feedback would be welcomed. ;)

Please let me know if you received my PM, and do keep me posted on your progress with WINE and X11.

Do you think it would be a good idea to start a thread in one of the forums concerning the progress of users with WINE and X11 in MR?

I saw them at the Apple store and they are fast enough (on the GUI) to fullfill the promise of quick OS 9 like OSX.

It Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiped!

Just in case anyone was in my same shipping group, MINE SHIPPED TODAY! I ordered feb. 3 and had an estimated ship date for mar. 8th after the update.

Oops on the repeats, sorry guys!

I ordered on Jan 30th with some upgrades. To be shipped march 8th.
It was shipped today!!! :D

Got an email from Apple today telling me that something shipped. I got really excited, and thought my MacBook finally shipped out (estimated to ship by March 15). Then I took a closer look at the email and noticed that it was for the second power adaptor I ordered along with the computer.

So I'll be able to plug the adaptor into the wall, and stare at it for hours on end.
