The Macbook was just released! I'm not sure how anyone can play games on it, yet. Here's something though, someone played Half-life 2 full speed on an iiMac. It was amazing.

What is up with your magnet fetish? Mechanical watches have been mostly immune to mag issues since the 50's "The German DIN 8309 defines a mechanical watch as “antimagnetic” when its daily rate isn't changed by more than ± 30 seconds per day after it has been exposed to a magnetic field of 4,800 A/m (Ampère per meter)."

That is way more than any magnet you are apt to come into contact with unless you are 1)operating/having a MRI, 2)Work in a power plant, 3)around other large, extremely powerful electro magnets. Almost no rare earth magnets can produce fields of that strength.

The likelihood that your spiral spring would be magnetized by any magnet you normally come into contact with is not even worth considering.

My Seiko mechanical watch only allows for + or -15 to 20 seconds per day. My watch currently gains about 6 seconds per day. Not my idea of perfection, but according to Sieko, it is located along the better part of the tolerance spectrum.

Any word on the ACTUAL battery life yet?

I hate to ask something that has already been probably answered, but this thread is way too long to go through every page!

from the macmall.com website it's 4.5 hours.

graphics are great :) make sure you get the 256mb vram upgrade, only $75 bucks.

I got a 2.0Ghz 20" imac intel with 2gigs of ram and 256mb vram. gaming is great under windows. imac never gets hot either.

check out these screens this is on my imac,

Does anyone else have a key that sticks?

These reports from people that the keys stick has me worried. According to AppleInsider, the "keyboard is built-in as part of the MacBook's enclosure. Users who damage a key or two could find themselves having to replace the notebook's entire bottom casing and trackpad."

Although the new keyboard looks nice, the problems with them already makes me think this new keyboard was a stupid idea. Apple should have just stuck to the old style, or at least made it not a part of the whole freakin MacBook enclosure. Stupid stupid stupid.

Guess I'll wait until Rev. B or C before getting one.

I alread decided to get a macbook, but I still have a few questions:

How are the speakers? Can you watch a DVD with them? (Not home-theater style, sitting-by-your-desk style :)

The speakers seem to be configured like the 12-inch PowerBook, firing towards the screen. I'm unsure whether the 'mid-range enhancing' center speaker below the keyboard in the 12-inch Powerbook was present or not.

Do the keys actually go down _into_ the case? Seems annoying if true...

Yes, the keys actually go down into their individual slots.

It's a lot better. The iMac has the same GPU as the MBP. But this only matters if you're gaming or doing GPU intensive work.

does anyone know if you can get an educational discount at an apple store. and if so what documentation is needed? Will a student ID suffice?

Hey Multi,
Thanks for recomending I wait..I am ordering the MacBook 2.0 ghz white.
Perfect for me. More than Perfect. I'm no Gamer but I am pumped. I am in Canada so I may have to wait for a couple of weeks..to get it.

So, wow this post has been wild!
I know I was predicting July...I wanted this thing to come so bad...So I again, hats off to everyone. Thanks to the Rumor sites for giving me some kind of idea anyway...I thinks it is a bit odd how apple is so secretive..Someone who bought a MacBook pro 15 a week ago might be mighty pissed. But that is the reality of the times.. We all know the MacBook will see some upgrades at some point as well.

QUESTION..
this may have been asked already.
How is the keyboard on this thing?? IT looks really unique..
