If apple are planning to do an announcement for the launch of these new macbooks it is very unlikely that it will be the 23rd because they send out the invitations to the guests that are invited to the announcement a couple of weeks before just like they did for the “Lets Rock “ IPod announcement........so if they had sent out invites and were going to make an announce on the 23rd , surly someone on the net would of mentioned that they had received a invite for an upcoming apple announcement.

If Apple ARE NOT planning to do an announcement the 23rd is still possible for the release of the new macbooks.

If Apple ARE planning on doing an announcement then the 14th of October is still the likely date as it gives them time to send the invites out to the guest a couple of weeks before the event just like they did for the recently "Lets Rock" iPod announcement.

See this is my thinking. After the outcry from everyone about the lets rock event not being worth it :)rolleyes:) why would apple want to go and have another event for just updated computers? Sure us techy nerds would go wild, but the media (unless its a slow news day) and the public would just go "so?" or a dissmissive "thats pretty".

I think the "glitches" on the apple site indicate that it will just be a silent rollout. But I really cannot back it up, just a hunch

all I can say is , Apple, im buying a macbook around xmas no matter what, but please still TRY to awe me.

That’s what I was sorta thinking........it would be too soon for apple to do yet another announcement in such a short period of time and maybe there will be no announcement.

But when u think about it......it is a massive launch.....They are redesigning all their macbooks and macbook pros....even maybe the Mac mini.........this launch would be way too big to have no announcement for.

That's the optimistic view. Here's the pessimistic one: they'll come out with some stopgap refreshes by mid-October and then announce the fancy new redesigns at MWSF.

Well you have to understand that from our perspective (the nerdy one) it is a big deal. But to your average computer consumer, apple is just releasing new computers. They are too used to seeing companies like dell pump out 3 new models a week and unless they really know anything about apple it will just be the pretty equivalent of that.

I'd love an event tho, i just love watching steves keynotes :D

:confused:how and why is jack johnson itunes #1 seller?????

:mad:and if they do I will become more powerful than youll ever know.

what are these website glitches?

the minis options to buy have been dissapearing/reappearing as well as configurations of both the macbook and MBP. Could be just maintenance, could be preparation to swap out those specs/ models.

Its unclear.

Redesigned notebooks, a tablet Mac, iLife '09, and iWork '09 would warrant an event. But there's no recent hints of a tablet and nothing about iLife '09 or iWork '09.

that event sounds alot like a certain yearly event to me:(

Seriously. I like him but his songs all sound almost identical.

I dont even like him. (his music of course, i cant hate a guy i dont know)

Then again, it sure beats having some TALENTLESS musicians being number 1 (certain frequents of the billboard charts come to mind :p)

Are the Ipods alot more important to Apple so that they would warrant an event...???

are the macbooks not as important to Apple so that they dont warrant an event.???

I just see the launch of a whole new macbook range to be a larger event than a new range of their MP3 players.

The ipods are iconic and the MEDIA deems it worthy of an event (they show up eagerly dont they?)

In a way apple is falling victim to its success, it has to emphasize its flagship products which sadly the macs are flagships now only to those who love apple for apple instead of just being in love with their ipods.

Hmm. Anyone know what Apple's bread-and-butter product line is these days? Probably the iPods, no? In which case, they would be inclined to go the extra mile for new iPod releases.

I guess it was the IPODS that bought the APPLE company back to life.

Everyone has an Ipod....not everyone has a Macbook!

exactly, as far as your average consumer knows, the "ipod store" sells ipods and happen to have sexy computers as well.

I think that because iPods are so huge compared to MacBooks around the world, they would get a Keynote over a Keynote for notebooks.

Think about how many people have an iPod compared to a MB or MBP...
