Well, doing 30% margins on MacBooks doesn't seem so small its negligible. They are the #1 selling brand on campuses, you know.

What's a Matchbook?

can't wait for this to get updated! :D:D:D

I think that because iPods are so huge compared to MacBooks around the world, they would get a Keynote over a Keynote for notebooks.

Think about how many people have an iPod compared to a MB or MBP...

exactly, when you look at Apples dominance of the mp3 player market compared with their considerably smaller share of the computer and computer systems market it shouldn't be that suprising that sometimes Apple make a lot more fuss over their iPod lines than their computers...

god i hate you people, yet again ive spent wayyy too much time not doing my computer science HW and will now have to lug in my toshiba first period to finish, just because i spend wayyyyy too much time on these forums. I hope your happy:mad:

see yall tomorrow!:D

:apple:

The one interesting thing is Apple moving to 16:9 ratio displays. Sooner or later they will have to.

Bums me out. I hate 16:9 for laptops. Vertical space is more important than horizontal space after awhile.

I just hate having to carry around what i call "super rectangles"

I prefer 4:3 but everyones in love with HD widescreens now.

i agree. It is such a pain to use my macbook without my 24inch LCD. I have to scroll down every 2 seconds.

Try using a 10" MSI wind netbook, with winblows xp and a 1024x600 screen. Then you will know horror

it's okay to diss on ME, even Vista, but don't diss on XP it's one of the few things Microsoft actually got right. :p

Anyway XP praising aside i'm hoping these new macbooks are announced tuesday but I kind of think that just may be a bit to optimistic. But doesn't matter much to me it'll be a month before I can afford my new MBP so the only difference if they come out next week or one month is i'll have pictures to go off of.

With a lot of people taking about there being no event at all (plausible), I don't see why it couldn't be earlier rather than later, after supplies are taken care of. The one media event they did will bring people to the Apple Website/stores, so a "silent" roll-out of new computers can still be seen by a large audience - the audience they pulled in from the iPod event.

I don't agree forvertical space. Call it a matter of preference or relatively low vertical resolution on MacBooks if you want, but, per se, a 16:9 (or more commonplace 16:10) screen is the way to go. Place a web page on the left (or PDF), then OpenOffice on the right (or the contrary), and start to work without clicking every 5 seconds.

Of course there's a limit to the comfortable resolution you can put on a 13.3" screen, and Apple is just on the sweet spot, 113dpi, for their whole line. I hope it will stay within that range. So much PC brands boast enormous resolutions on 15" that they're unusable at more than 10cm.

Plus, having a widescreen lets you work and enjoy a movie when it's finished the way your eyes prefer it: scanning from left to right, not up and down.

I don't agree neither for XP SP2 usability; even with 3GB RAM, it kept on crashing my documents until I was authorized to put Ubuntu on it. Same documents where painfully slow to save in Leopard w/ 2GB, but at least, it didn't crashed. So SP2 is really not up to its reputation.

Hey guys! Started checking this site often and now everyday since around mid-summer since I started hearing more and more rumors about new macbooks, decided to finally sign up and post. (By the way, is there basically only guys that go on this site!? Just from the post you can kinda tell there's hardly any girls)

So, last night I had a dream that I saw a new macbook commercial, hahaha you know you're desperate when. The lowest end price point was 799 and they were avaliable in multiple colours, and it was a really kind of cool and groovy ad campaign.

Definitely a dream.

Honestly though, if they stayed at the pricepoint they are at now I really don't care, I would dish out that much no problem, I love them. I'm with the person that said they hope that the MB and MBP get released at the same time, because I too might go upto the Pro if they are dropping the prices aggressively. This Tuesday would be awesome but, sounds like it's pretty much on or before Oct 14th, that's fine with me!

Actually the new Apple commercial is like this:

PC: Hi, I'm a PC... HI, I'm a PC... I'm a PC...
Mac: Hey PC, what are you doing?
PC: Oh I'm just rehearsing for my new TV commercial. Thanks again By the way for putting that together for us. We could have never done it without you.
Mac: No problem. Did they ever figure out what was wrong with Movie maker?
PC: Vista.
pause-
Mac: Oh, sorry.
PC: Yea.

"Windows I'm a PC, Made on Mac".

Check Your Best Buy Stock!

I just checked my best buy stock for the macbooks and macbook pros and not a single store in AZ has any!

Come on already, just give us a hint so we don't have to wait. I hate apple for this reason alone. Ever other PC maker gives people something to chew on, at least show us what it will look like.

For anyone wanting 4:3 Native, LOL. 16:9 is the future, watching anything in 480i or p is like looking at the TV with Beer Goggles on. Ask your self why the news reporters look like clowns when you watch them in HD. You can see a white head from across the room in 1080p. If OSX 10.5.6 is supporting Blu-ray then HD is in Mac's future.
