Great! Keep us posted on their regrettable excuses.
They announce iPhones in advance, so what is stopping them to do the same with Macs?

I already know the reply:
"We do not discuss future product roll-outs outside of Apple, Inc."
Post no. 2000 yey!
Ok, almost if it wasn't for dial up.But seriously, I sold my macbook and am struggling to wait for my new
. The library is no fun.
I think this is really lame.
I don't care about their consumer-lifestyle product lines. For professional computing equipment this policy is going to haunt them as soon all the current hype is settling and people realise what the Mac really is - a tool.
Edit: I am wishing these Psystar guys 'Good Luck' in their law-suite, if only to keep the Apple arrogance at bay.
Sounds like apple needs to address is loyal customers or they are looking at a growing hackintosh community.
but really,
apple is doing poor business right now with its "secrecy".

To be honest, I imagine at least 95% of all iminent MB/MBP purchasers have no idea that Apple is about to update the lines, so I hardly imagine Apple is doing "poor business".
It would be against the law for Apple to do so, as it might give some an advantage on dealing with shares in AAPL. Afaik, this is the primary reason. They run a tight ship.
No freaking kidding! I agree 100%, this is the conclusion that I've come to. Apple fans are well...fanatics. Not necessarily the "switchers" but rather true Mac people who have been here since the beginning of binary code on a screen. Why is it that other companies will at least keep their customers semi-informed on release dates and specs...yet we sit here in the freaking dark typing on rumour pages?!? Its actually starting to piss me off to tell you the truth, and its ALWAYS been this way since I bought my first Mac in '96. I remember the price of those things would fluctuate like the price of oil. As loyal customers, I think we all at least DESERVE to know the release date of the product and general specs (that won't compromise their competitive edge). I mean c'mon, common sense dictates what most of the components will be....we don't need to know ANYTHING about the case, that can be a surprise....if there's new groundbreaking technology that none of their competitors knows about (hard w/ all the patent applications flying around) then keep that a secret. I'm totally ok w/ that and love a good surprise at MacWorld like the next guy. HOWEVER, if I'm going to plunk down $3,000 on a brand new machine I would like to at least make an informed decision with my money. I'd like to know when its coming out so I can make a sane decision of whether to buy now or in one month...."oh, its coming out in October? Fine I'll buy now cause its FREAKING JUNE!" ..."Is it really going to be all glossy and have ONE firewire 800 port? Fine, I'll buy now because I need matte and TWO firewire ports for my work." ...or how about "I'll wait for a month because they'll have 320 gb drives AND expandable to 8gb or RAM which I need so no problem, you can have my money then."
Is this so unreasonable?
...its still not giving anything away. This whole thing is rather childish if you ask me....oooh the KGB and their spies, we can't let the microfilm fall into their hands. Sheesh. Just give us the date & the 'basic' specs. I'd even pay for this information AND sign a NDA, it would cause me less grief. Call it iWellness.
LoL, ok I will...what his email again? I know its been on here b4.

i am on the same boat. I have ordered a thinkpad just in case the release date of macbook is "next year"![]()
Having just read that Apple is reporting quarterly results on October 21st. I now firmly believe that we will see
No NEW MacBooks on Oktober 14th!!!
Either they release it before or well after, since a release a week before earnings are reported will confuse analysts...
Well, they could still announce them the 14th of October. And make them available starting November.Having just read that Apple is reporting quarterly results on October 21st. I now firmly believe that we will see

Another reason why I think that might be the case is the following: http://www.apple.com/benl/backtoschool/index.html?CID=WWW-EUBL-BTS20080916-AL9XV
Our European student rebate ends 31 October. If one buys a current MB(P) one gets a refund of 125 on an iPod Nano or iPod Touch. So maybe after the 31st we see new stuff...
Can you compare that to quarterly releases and past product updates to validate your point?![]()

The quarter ended yesterday it takes a few weeks to prepare the reports so it will not confuse analysts.Having just read that Apple is reporting quarterly results on October 21st. I now firmly believe that we will see

Somehow I doubt Apple cares so much about analysts' peace of mind.
Has the policy been hurting them at all in many years theyve been offering notebooks?
no , but it's been(is) hurting us consumers![]()
