Presumably only 4 days till we know how big this event might be - press being given a week's notice? Hopefully they'll deliver more than their last event.

who said there will be an event (regardless its size)?

intergrated sucks..

Integrated = Less power consumption.

In test upon test Integrated graphics GPU'd based laptops draw an average of 14whr while dedicated GPU'd draw an average of 24whr. Less power = longer battery and less heat.

exactly right...we will see integrated graphics on the macbook

First I've heard of it as well.
I would think Apple events require more planning and we'd know about it now. My guess is there will be some kind of a press release wing-ding or a silent update.

I think we would only see a silent update if it is only a spec bump. Apple will want to hype any significant redesign at a media event. Those are usually announced seven days in advance.

I think the rumor is that the Macbook will use an nVidia chipset (rather than Intel's Montevina), but it will still be integrated graphics.

But the MBP will go to Montevina right?

Anyway we are at the end of another week with no more evidence of any updates. Either Apple have been unusually good at supressing leaks this time, or there really is nothing new coming in October.

If it was just the alu redesign and a small spec bump, I don't think that would need an event?

on that note, what would it take for an event if a redesign wasnt enough?

does it have to make toast for you before it "needs" an event?

No there going to use a somewhat remotely half decent chipset instead with some luck. Then again since the Pro already has a graphics card does it really matter.

They will still use Intel's CPU's if thats what you meant.

Probably not. It would also use the nVidia chipset, just with different graphics.

Give it until next Tuesday, the 7th. If there's no announcement of a media event by then, it's time to start worrying. ;)

Apple's laptop market share in the U.S. just rose to 10.6% up from 6.6% a year ago. IMO with any type of a redesign they are going to want to have a media event to keep pumping up that number.

Given nVidia's recent problems with their graphics cards, and that they have a potentially very large future liability in that respect, which may pose financial problems for them, does anyone think that Apple moving to them for chipsets could be a rather risky move?
