The new Macbook looks a million times better than the old model. It was looking horribly dated in the Apple Stores next to every other model and now it looks bang up to date. Its a shame they didn't offer colour options like I thought they would. Better screen/ram/processor/hard drive/dimensions/battery/trackpad FTW:apple:

FW400 has faster sustained speeds than USB2.0. FW800 is much faster altogether. I can live without it, but there is a noticable difference.

Nothing now, but I like to keep stuff for a long time and update parts. That's why I said it was more for the future...

You do realize that to actually take advantage of 8 GB of RAM, you'd have to be using some very memory-intensive applications.

Hell, I have 4 GB in my MB and I never tap it out completely. I usually have at least 1 GB free.

Oh wow, where is the differnce between this ad the 13" MBP? Seems like 1199 is a little to much fot it now since this one is only 999

thats the old (now) MacBook.

my god, please dont let me think there will massive amounts of sans firewire MacBook complainers. Apple bloody put it in the aluminium MacBook and changed it to a Pro... for the same price!

I agree, most people who go for the MB probably had little or no use for FW. Target Disk mode - maybe, but everyone I know with a MB had no clue about that either.

What the hells with the £50 price increase in the uk

I mean it looks great but not 50 more great ....

I'm quite annoyed tbh
I can't afford another 50 I've been saving for ages...

999 dollars is 605 pounds surely they could make it 699 then not 799

it's cheaper to hve one shipped from the us....!

Where's my Credit Card?

Oh wait, still $999? Seriously?

Why not $749. That seems like a better price.

Why not $399 or even $199. Those sound like even better prices.

Apple is a business and charges what they think they can get for the computers. They will always charge a premium over what we consider a good price. It's our choice to either buy it or not.

Because Apple doesn't have a consumer model or a professional model. Apple has an expensive model, and a poor-person model, which is deliberately dumbed down. So now, you can get a $1000 Macbook, or a $1200 Macbook with Firewire, and SD slot, Backlit keyboard, that can dent.

On another note, WTF is up with that new remote? It looks like Mickey-mouse.

Has anyone ever actually dented their aluminum unibody MacBooks (Pros)??
I have the original unibody MacBook (before it was a Pro) and that thing Is stout. I have heard stories of the old, non unibody aluminum MacBook Pros denting, but I don't see how you could dent the new ones( without seriously damaging it at least).

The American dollar is in freefall. Consider yourself lucky that it's only £50 more.

Is there Infra Red on the new MacBook?

I can't find any details saying there is and the remote isn't an option to have one when you buy it...
