So, this is actually a large iPad running Mac OS!

Virtual keyboard?! LOL!

🙈 👎🏽 🔥

Hard pass… or, should that be, major fail?!

I can’t get very excited about this particular visual, which is essentially an 13” laptop for over 3 grand without a proper keyboard, however… how about if it was a 16” laptop with a screen that extended down into the area above a proper keyboard, letting you fit a whole row of palettes below your screen? That could get me reaching for my credit card

make the foldable screen "as crease-free as possible,"
so dont fold the screen inside on to itself, just fold outwards therefore screen will be U shape folded, not V shape. Thus make it an iPad Pro, since no one asks a virtual keypad on a Macbook

Vapourware.

Lenovo hasn't made a case for their ThinkPad X1 Fold and Microsoft bailed on Surface Neo.

"But Apple will do it better.." Who asked for this type of hardware, what problem does it fix? But sure, some people are just desperate to give Apple their cash whatever they make.

I'm just imagining those times when I initially feared breaking my first (gen) iPad.

You know what people are going to do with this, right? Get a keyboard cover for it

I wouldn't mind having a virtual keyboard if it's haptic. But I would rather it take the style of the iPad Pro, where the top screen portion is detachable.

This is what we get instead of an iPad with a real OS that allows us to use it as a tablet or computer. This somehow is going to be a Mac with MacOS that also is touch based and we can convert it into a tablet. Somehow I don’t think this is better than just giving us the ability to run MacOS or Mac apps on the iPad Pro.
Yep, or giving us a touch screen on Macs.

*Steve Jobs has left the chat*

I still curse at the iPhone to this day when I type words it replaces with nonsense or misreads as a tap on the letter to the left or right. I do not want this on a machine I use to do a job.
Oh the plus side, maybe this product will motivate them to fix the iOS keyboard finally

So what kind of people is this device targeting? I assume it will have a touch screen.

1. Ipad Pro crowd asking for MAC OS on the tablet
2. Digital Artists and Photographers

If there’s one thing we learned from the butterfly keyboard and Touch Bar era, it’s how damn important it is to have a great feeling keyboard and physical function keys. This seems to fly in the face of that.

Long time Mac user, since MobileMe.com I don’t want to be mean, but people are commenting on something that doesn’t exist
It’s so funny, someone actually explained how the hinge will work.
Someone said it’s too expensive.
Some people are pissed because it won’t have Mac OS.
Also what up with people upset that iPad doesn’t have Mac OS,
A lot of them can’t specifically say what they need Mac OS on the iPad… some people blurt it file
Management… if Mac OS was on iPad people would use it for a day then go Mac to iPad os…. The people at Apple are very smart they know what people want.
Another thing anyone notice how a lot of people on this site, are extremely frugal.. it seems everything is way too expensive….
I mean it’s comical there are people already complaining about the new foldables price tag and
Can’t believe it’s not running Mac OS so funny

This is a foldable iPad abomination, not a MacBook.

#1 - I don't want to touch my laptop screen. Extending your arms generates fatigue over time and there will be smudges everywhere. I've used touch screen Windows laptops and they're pointless.
#2 - I need an actual keyboard with tactile feedback. This is why playing games meant for a keyboard/mouse on an iPhone/iPad with emulated controls sucks, and also the same reason I make typos all the time on my iPhone. I have no idea where I'm typing because I cannot feel where I am on the screen. I can do 100+ words a minute on a normal keyboard though and I never look at it. Ever try to play a virtual piano vs a real one? It sucks. Same problem.
#3 - This is a solution looking for a problem. Why do we need dual screen foldable MacBooks with no keyboard and trackpad? What needs is that addressing? This just seems like a tech demo that looks cool with no practical application.

If this is the direction MacBooks are going, I'll have to begrudgingly switch to a PC for my laptop so I can actually use it. Steve Jobs described MacBooks to be akin to trucks. Some people need trucks to do a job. The majority of other people are fine with a car, or iPad. I need a truck and I think most people using a MacBook do also, or they'd just buy an iPad.
This guy is too funny, he is upset about something that doesn’t exist. The macrumors forums are funny…
Can sum it up with this
Everything cost way too much
Mac OS needs to be on iPad, the if you ask specifically what they need Mac OS on iPad, all they say is file management ,

I’m sure they’ll include haptic response to make it feel like real keys. It’s actually very cool to have virtual keyboard. The screen can be put to better use when a keyboard isn’t needed.

But for the price of Vision Pro… it’s like Apple can’t create anything new at a sane price point anymore.
How about people that take the name of products way to serious.
Say a poster pissed off that iPad Air is heavier than iPad Pro he was really upset….
It’s just a name of a product.
