Well of course I just bought the Monkey Island series for $34.95 :)

My timing always sucks.

Isn't it fun, though? I bought the bundle mainly for this game. Though Cover Scout & Rapid Weaver are pretty good too.

Only thing is, they say on the website they give 25% of their proceeds to charity. However, if you do the math, the amount they raised for charity is almost $1,000 less than what they should've made. Embezzling, perhaps?

I think you've watched Superman 3 one too many times. ;) The dollar figure is just a tad depressed due to a pretty small group of members purchasing for $2 off with a 'secret heisters discount', which they got through participating in MacHeist 3 missions.

Awesome!

The Monkey Island thing is basically a gift into the TellTale store, from which you can download both Mac and PC versions!

Which is good, because I bought this while waiting for the MBP update... at least one of these works on my PC :D

RipIt works great!!
If you have a disc that won't rip then email them with details. they will update the app so it does!

Okay, so maybe you can help me understand. Everything that I can find online (and the RipIt website is about the least informative of any online resources) seems to say that RipIt only rips into ".dvdmedia" file format. In other words, RipIt only works with the DVD Player app, not, as the above tagline suggests, iTunes, iPod or :apple:TV. Even the RipIt site doesn't say anything about playing the movies on anything other than your computer, and the screenshot shows the ".dvdmedia" extension.

So, beyond the fact that the user interface is very, very simple, what is the advantage of RipIt over a free app like HandBrake that has easy to use presets for just about every type of use you could want?

Good morning, America!

Now the bundle is getting momentum... It is selling like hot cakes, since the US is getting up and smelling the coffee! Er... sorry, Espresso was in another bundle. I meant RapidWeaver. :)

Yes, to my understanding RipIt only removes the DRM from the DVD and gives you a digital file encoded just like the DVD. But this it does very well. I u

Yes, to my understanding RipIt only removes the DRM from the DVD and gives you a digital file encoded just like the DVD. But this it does very well. I use it all the time, and it works on movies that Handbrake stumbles on cracking the DRM. I then use Handbrake on the ripped file to compress a movie down to about 2.5-3 gigs.

It's nice to see RipIt make another showing. The problem is when you buy one bundle you seem to have bought the best parts of all of them.

".dvdmedia" is not a file format, it's a disk image.... if you remove the ".dvdmedia" from the file name you will see a folder with all the DVD files inside with the DRM removed. you can either take that DRM free rip and burn either the ".dvdmedia" or the folder (without the ".dvdmedia" extension) in toast and make a copy OR use an app like handbrake to make an ipod/appletv/etc version

Ditto. I bought it on opening night, but if I had known that there was a choice to get some of my monies to MR, I would've done so.

The oncoming MacHeist 4 bundle might have a Macrumors link/advert. That is the way to do it and save the charities' cut for more noble causes - that's the spirit of the thing. Please, do not make a choice between supporting those in need and those in love with their Macs! I mean, you can support both soon, hopefully!

(Again, Pixelmator and PathFinder, please! If not in the next big one, put it in those covered bar-coded crates on the side! PLEASE!)

I might would be in for the next one with Pixelmator as well

Okay, just didn't know about that. Thanks for the info.

You could always use handbrake after this step to put it into iTunes.

I wouldn't mind trying out PathFinder. Sounds useful. I tried this one app called BumpTop (I don't think it was ever part of a bundle). Cool concept, but missing a lot of features. What Bumptop does is not only do you get a desktop, you get 4 walls around it to put more stuff. You can also put things into piles as well. Two main complaints about it though:

-It doesn't self organize. When mounting a drive or something, it always puts it in the center. Plug in multiple drives or something & they just go on top of each other. Pressing command-j to open the view settings & setting the "Organize by:" thing does nothing

-You can't drag a file from one folder to the desktop. I always get an error.

If Bumptop fixes these, it should be a good app.

why are people being selfish, and not supporting the cause? Maybe you don't need the apps, but at $19.95 you can afford to give to charity. If you don't have $19.95 then you shouldn't be using a mac period. If you can't support charity, then you shouldn't even bother. Either way, i love selfish people. Buy it, if you need the apps use them, if you don't then hey, don't. Simple.

Speeding up!

Putting Monkey Island in the way of RapidWeaver was a mistake. Now, people seem to want the web-editor that's worth $80, for $20.

Personally, I already have RipIt (it's OK, simple and fast but that's all about it). The only ones that I will use from this lot are MacJournal and RapidWeaver. Or at least that's how I see it now. I fell for bundles in the past and I don’t use most applications. But what I use out of the dozens, already worth the price I ever paid for these bundles.

Frankly, for $20, I haven't got much to lose with this Nano bundle... With MacHeist 4, I might be more cautious. After all, they tend to be in the $40-50 range. I only need Pixelmator and PathFinder from the usual bundle crowd and I am set. VMWare Fusion would be great!

Besides, my bundle-originated Espresso and Circus Pony NoteBook need to be seen in light of the competition... They like good company. And with MacJournal and RapidWeaver, they will have some fantastic friends!

i want to buy the programs, but i need know how they are delivered, do you get a disc copy, or a download key? i don't have a macbook pro quite just yet(patiently waiting for my update =]) but these programs seem like something i would like to own when i do get it, if i could get a disc it would be ideal and a download key via email would be good too. lemme know, thanks!!

Handbrake

Not sure why people would rip the DVD with RipIt and then encode it with handbrake for the AppleTV when Handbrake can do it all in on process...

EDIT: For free...

You have a download page receipt with the keys
