Right, but when Tweetie 2 comes out (which will be soon), are they going to have a free version of that? I've tried all flavors of twitter clients and Tweetie beats them all IMO.. Great user interface and everything is easy to find and nice on the eyes. I just wish it supported newer twitter functionality. Can't wait till version 2.

according to macheist, it says clearly, "As a MacHeist customer, you're not only receiving a free upgrade to the upcoming, highly anticipated Tweetie 2 – "...

a free upgrade.

Thanks, I am aware of that bundle and sadly, PathFinder is the only one there that I liked. Although, it,s not much less, I just couldn't justify taking part in that deal. PathFinder already appeared in a few bundles and I hope that one day, it will be part of a deal that has other apps too that I liked. Meanwhile, I'm using Xfolders and muCommander.

I essentially bought this bundle just to have Tales of Monkey Island at a reduced price, however after using clips and tracks for a little while I found out those are really useful as well.

$20 isn't really expensive for a (reasonable) bundle like this.

Can I buy them in disc form? I really want all these apps, but, well, I don't have a Mac...yet. I'm getting one for next school year, and I'd love to take advantage of this deal.

Actually, there is now an option under Preferences to "Use '.dvdmedia' Extension". If you uncheck this option, RipIt saves the DVD as a Video_TS folder. Also, there is a new Beta option for compression when the DVD is first inserted. This will allow you to copy a compressed version of the DVD, and it includes presets (in Preferences) for High Quality MP4, Apple TV, and iPhone/iPod Touch; however, you must download these components separately. You will be prompted to download these components when you select the Compression option.QUOTE]

Where does one locate beta downloads from?

When you first click on Compress, RipIt will offer you the option of downloading the necessary components.

I bought my bundle a few days into it - Flow is *awesome* -- I really like Transmit, but was surprised to see that it's been around since OS 8, and as Flow's website says, it *looks* like Transmit is older software...it doesn't have a really nice, elegant UI like Flow does.

Clips is awesome - I use it multiple times a day already, and RipIt is pretty amazing - I like Handbrake, but there are too many options, aspect ratios, compression algorithms, etc...RipIt is fast, easy, and "just works". I love the "rip" option where it makes a perfect copy of the original, keeping all of the menus intact. I was *never* able to do that in Handbrake.

i don't know if this is appropriate to ask, but, i already have a license for rapidweaver and ripit.

if it is allowed, i would love to sell it to somebody who would need it. PM me.

if it is not a good idea, i would love to hear from a MOD and i would edit my post appropriately.

thanks.

Macheist actually has an option to "gift" up to 2 licenses (2 different programs) to other people who may be able to use them, if you already have licenses. I assume it would let you choose the name and email address of said person(s). (I don't have any of these programs for a change, so I didn't gift anything.)

Mostly bought this for Monkey Island.. But was also interested in Clips. Seems like a memory/cpu hog though for the functionality? :( I use Butler as a multiple pasteboard app atm (and an itunes menubar control, and an app launcher) - that only uses up a fraction of the RAM. Has anyone else been using clips for a while and can comment on it's performance? Is the eyecandy as needless as it first seems?

Tales of Monkey Island questions

I'm considering buying this almost entirely so as to get Tales of Monkey Island for a discount, but I have a couple questions:

Do you really need an Intel processor to play it, or will it work on my PowerPC G5?
And, if I buy the game through this deal, or from the website for that matter, do I get any kind of credit that entitles me to also download the game on the Wii? Or, is that completely separate, requiring an additional purchase, to be able to play it on the Wii?
Thanks very much to anyone who can help me.

in my lexicon, ripping is the process of transferring media content from a physical disc (i.e. a CD or DVD) to a digital data file. This is frequently accompanied by compression (i.e. while you can choose to rip a CD into a lossless file format, such as WAV, AIF or Apple Lossless, the vast majority of people rip their CDs into AAC or MP3). In a recent build of Handbrake, the dev team chose not to continue to try to fight the security systems that the movie studios keep coming up with, when there are simple backdoor ways of approaching the same problem. As a result, if you want to use Handbrake as a DVD ripper, the only requirement is that you have VLC (also free) installed on your system. With that, Handbrake acts perfectly well as a DVD ripper. The one thing that is true, however, is that it will transcode into a standard digital file format, and won't leave the movie as a VOB file. But, if you've got the disk space, you can set it to encode with 100% quality.

So, I still maintain that Handbrake is a ripper.

Fair enough... I can't argue with an accurate, well presented counter... :)

This should have been up the first day, because I did check MR for a link beforehand, but I didn't see one.

Only thing is, they say on the website they give 25% of their proceeds to charity. However, if you do the math, the amount they raised for charity is almost $1,000 less than what they should've made. Embezzling, perhaps?

They do need to pay taxes you know. ;)

Does anyone know if the MacJournal iPhone app (not released yet) will sync with the Macjournal in this bundle?

edit answering myself: it seems yes, it looks like it will. After downloading MJ, check for update, the support for synch is in the update

Very happy with the 'Tweetie' application and I'm looking forward to cracking open a beer and working through 'Tales of Monkey Island'. I find 'CoverScout' to be most useful indeed, I'm very fussy about having all the correct iTunes artwork and information. I'll look at the others later, MacJournal most likely will be the next I try.

Really great of MacHeist to give you something for very little and be able to give a charitable donation at the same time. Top effort!

I've actually started to use Echofon instead of Tweetie. I think there are refresh problems with Tweetie. There should be a refresh button on the main screen. Although I will be interested to see the new version of Tweetie.

Was the beta included in the pack?

Clips abbreviations?

I need some help. i can't seem to figure out how to set up the abbreviations feature in Clips.

Can anyone help me with that, please?

I tried the beta of Ripit and it isnt very good at the moment, it failed to recognise the right files of one disc and failed to recognise any files of another out of the four i tried (for the transcoding part, the ripping part seems fine).

RipIt is a joy to use, I admit. It's very simple and very fast. But the quality seems to suffer.

By the way, I was wondering, whether just creating a simple DVD disc image might be in any way better/faster?

Just one more thing... the Tweetie app disappeared from behind!

In what way does the quality suffer? I have used it for awhile to back up my movies, and I was under the impression that it created an exact replica of the DVD image.

And for those talking about MactheRipper/Handbrake, I think one of the advantages of RipIt is that it does it's job much quicker.

You don't even have to download them until you get your Mac. Buy them and remember your account receipt information with MacHeist, as long as their website's in business you can log in and get the download links and registration information any time. I see mine on there still from previous bundles.
