Where has Tweetie gone?

I have had good success with RipIt
But I prefer Mac DVD Ripper Pro

RipIt is a joy to use, I admit. It's very simple and very fast. But the quality seems to suffer.

By the way, I was wondering, whether just creating a simple DVD disc image might be in any way better/faster?

Just one more thing... the Tweetie app disappeared from behind!

MR you could use being a tad more charitable next time...

...and informing us when macheist actually starts. Anyway better late than never...

Anyways, shame I already have the excellent macjournal because this would be a no brainer, still I 'll buy this for charity.

Couple of questions:

Does Ripit Allow you to merge chapters, and help you make sense, ie merge again, all these vob files so you can rip them in a single one, and choose what you leave out?

Coverscout any good? Will it let you do some basic tag editing too?

I haven't used it enough to really see... but from what I can tell it is just a simple "insert" and click and you get the result without much customization

In Rip It you can, in preferences, tell it to not save as a dvdmedia file. Then you will just get the video_ts folder. It also compresses the movie to a mp4 or ipod file but I haven't tried that yet. Overall, it's a simple program but it works and seems to be supported by its developers.

Ditto. I bought it on opening night, but if I had known that there was a choice to get some of my monies to MR, I would've done so.

MacHeist sent me an e-mail on 2/25 announcing this was upcoming. Then they announced it was available with 7 apps on 3/3. It was 'sweetened' on 3/5 with 3 more apps for those who tweeted to twits/peeps/friends.:D

25% of your MacHeist purchase goes to any / all of 11 charities.

Yes, RipIt works quite well as far as I can tell AND it can compress the DVD to iTunes/iPhone/iPod format, rather than just 'rip'...no need for handbrake or other file-convertors.

2000 sales in an hour!

Over 2000 in an hour! It's selling like a multitasking iPad with a camera!

why are people being selfish, and not supporting the cause? Maybe you don't need the apps, but at $19.95 you can afford to give to charity. If you don't have $19.95 then you shouldn't be using a mac period. If you can't support charity, then you shouldn't even bother. Either way, i love selfish people. Buy it, if you need the apps use them, if you don't then hey, don't. Simple.

If you have $20 to give to charity and don't want these apps, give it directly to a charity. Don't give to Phil so he can take his hefty cut and another to MR.

wondering...

so the 'rip it app' will rip movie dvd's and put them in itunes in the cover flow with the movies i have there now? and i'll be able to sync them with the ipad once it comes out? is this app good? does it slow the mac down at all are they buggy?

Who buys apps like these when so many very good free ones exist?

RapidWeaver + Yourhead.com plugins = absolute gold for someone who wants to do flexible web site development without the headaches of manual coding.

also what is handbrake? is it the same as rip it? if i read what i saw correct it does the same thing pretty much? and it compress the files smaller?

You lose and you gain. And others gain even more...

That's a completely legitimate point. However, by employing such a generous policy, MacHeist appeals to a wider audience. This policy brings in customers that might never buy a software pack like this without the charity part. In a way, by having a successful bundle, what you 'lose' in that 25%, you get back as a volume discount from developers. I can imagine that they are not getting too much out of this revenue. But frankly, look at some of these apps and you have to wonder, whether they sell more than a few thousands (or hundreds) from some of these at full price.

For some unexplainable reason, I like Yourhead and Carousel.

Clips is by far the best of the 7 apps.

RipIt is garbage non-working wannabe-DVD-ripper.

Flow is also very nice.
Coverscout is decent.
MacJournal is good

Get it!

Rip it works perfect, have had no problem since I go it 6 months ago. If you find a movie that has problems email them. Wish there was one for Windows 7, would make my life so much easier. True no blu-ray but apple does not even support it or may never even bring it to the Mac and that is something we may have to live with in the Mac world.

Great bundle... I just bought Ripit a couple weeks ago for $19...

It is a great little app, no more DVD Shrink/AnyDVD in a VM for me!!!

Incorrect, Handbreak from their own Q&A says that they don't support ripping any more. You use RipIt to get a copy of the dvd on your HD, you can keep it as is which means there is no compression from the original or use HandBreak to make it even smaller using compression. Handbreak is a good way to get compression but still keep lots of the detail, I use it to convert blu-ray rip to small more manageable ipod/apple tv sizes. Though I can't say it looks as good as the original you really don't need 1080p on a 13" laptop or for that mater 40GB file.

Yes the latest version does not really need Handbreak any more, just got the update, love it. Now if they only made one for Windows 7 because the Windows ones tend to really suck and are really flaky. :(

ok so use rip it to get the movie and download it, then use handbreak to compress it making it the same size files that you'd down load off itunes?
