I am receiving this error using the macOS Sierra Patcher
I've tried a couple of USB sticks but both getting same error.

I've tried a couple of USB sticks but both getting same error.
The Late-2008 Aluminum MacBook has the multitouch glass trackpad, so it works 100%. It's the MacBook5,2 (plastic mid-2009 non-unibody) that has the trackpad issue. The only problem I've found thus far is jus the trackpad. Read backward through the threads to find out more.
Something is wrong with your copy of the Install macOS Sierra app. Re-download it and try again.I am receiving this error using the macOS Sierra Patcher

Hi - for version 4.0.5 , is the kext list in your about credits still current? Just tracking down a potential kext issue issue with my mbp 5,3. Thanks.
DownloadSierra now includes "Reboot to Authorize" (experimental), which can be used to boot your Mac as a newer model (using Clover at the moment) in order to add Sierra into your Apple ID's Purchased list.

Make sure you format your USB drive correctly as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) with GUID partition scheme. If that doesn't work, try a different drive.Ah ok, I see that when I use the download in the other menu it signs in with your MAS account - thats pretty clever

Yeah, it's still current.
sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel -all-loaded

As long as USB is working, then there's nothing to worry about. As for the Recovery Partition Patch, that has been working for quite some time.Success with 4.0.5 of your patcher with Sierra Release on my mbp 5,3.
In place reinstall over Sierra GM. Smooth.
NOTE: This is the first time I try your patcher without the LegacyUSBInjector.kext. I was getting some pesky related issues ...
...preventing me from restarting the machine without rebuilding extensions from recovery first (a pain). I just rebooted Sierra successfully now wihout a hitch. Tested all my USB peripherals, wifi, sound, bt etc...and all seems fine. Any reason to worry since I opted NOT to post-install LegacyUSBInjector?
Also, does patching recovery, now work?
Thanks in advance, Patrice
You've got to use my patch tool, and in the Menu bar, select Tools>Download macOS Sierra.I have a mid-2009 Macbook Pro 17. 4 GB RAM. And an 80 GB Intel X25M SSD with 20 GB free space.
It says "This version of macOS 10.12 cannot be installed on this computer"
What am I missing?

Where does this download to on the local disk? You've got to use my patch tool, and in the Menu bar, select Tools>Download macOS Sierra.
It initiates the download from the App Store, placing it in your Applications folder like all other App Store downloads.Where does this download to on the local disk?

You can download the Sierra installer using the new Tools menu of version 4.0.6 of my patch tool.Thank you for this tool, I'd been looking for something like that. Unfortunately it fails on my MBP 09 with the message "--file not supported for /".
I'm not too familiar with the "bless" utility but I tried running it manually in the same way the app does but I received the same error. I read around that SIP limits bless but I disabled it and still got the same message.
What I'm looking for is a way to do an update install instead of a clean one on a FileVault protected drive. I used dosdude1's patch and created an external installer and tried:
1: Running the external/patched Install macOS Sierra app, which loads but won't let me select my disk (says it is incompatible).
2: Booting from it, but I wasn't able to unlock my drive from Disk Utlity nor manually using diskutil cs unlockVolume so my disk wouldn't on the install list. From what I gather it should be possible to update if I disable FV but if at all possible I'd rather avoid that.
I was thinking if it'd be possible to use your tool function to reboot as a different model to update using the unpatched Install app and then boot the patched one to run dosdude1's macOS Post Install?

Hi dosdude1 can you clarify if when we successfully instal Sierra that we can update to the next Sierra patch (10.12.x) through the App Store? Or will we all have to go through this process again to keep up to date? What about iTunes updates, Safari, iWork, etc? Will those be able to be updated through the App Store?
Yep, it'll work just fine.Hi Dosdude1! Your patch work With late MacBook 2008 with a ssd drive ? And 5 go ram? Thanks
