Make sure that you already applied appropriate firmware updates to support APFS(if you had High Sierra installed on APFS previously, you should be good).

My High Sierra was installed on APFS volume as well. Maybe the reason of all this is FileVault? It was turned on before, but nothing like this happened on High Sierra

Hi ! I am currently writing from my Early 2008 Black MacBook (4,1). I am pretty surprised how usable it is even without full QE/CI !

I think i have to max out the ram and change thermal paste because the CPU is getting pretty hot ;)

Got a little problem booting the Patcher (macOS Mojave Patcher 1.3.3) on a bootscreen-less Kepler GPU on Mac Pro 3.1

Got no picture from the USB installer. The installed System (10.14.6.04 18G95) will give a picture when the driver is loaded. It is alive, capslock lit when pressed, shutdown keyboard shortcut switches machine

I have the same issue with my 3.1. I am using a first generation Titan, which is also Kepler. I had the same problem with a 680 as well. Reinstalled 10.14.4 and stayed there for the time being.

Hy,

eyetv T2 lite TV USB Stick
isnt working probebly
on macmini 3.1 or macbook pro4.1

Did you have to patch the ROM to use APFS? Mojave seems to have successfully installed on a partitioned HD from a different partition, and starts to load, but puts me in bootloop hell. Did you use the 0403979's tool? Thanks if you see this!

Yeah 2GB ram just doesn't cut it these days, I have 8GB and some of my progs use a lot.

Answered my own question. Had to do the patch a couple of times to get functionality, but booted in great! Might reapply some thermal paste as well, but holy cow!

The CPU is getting hot because it doesn't have proper graphics acceleration.

Ok MacPro 3.1 with Mojave 10.14.6 on board and all was well, then I installed the 10.14.6 Supplemental (the newest one) and all Audio Outputs missing from System Preferences> Sound> Output. Any ideas how to remedy this situation.

Thanks.

Same happened to me. Repatch audio fixed it.

I have kernel panic and received this log.
It only happened once. I don't know if it's something I need to worry about. You who know more about this, can help me?

Thanks guys for your amazing work !

I have been able to lower CPU / GPU temps on my MBP5,1 and MBP6,2 by doing the following:
  • System Preferences > Spotlight > Search Results: Uncheck all options
  • System Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy: Add all Volumes
  • System Preferences > Accessibility > Display: Check "Reduce motion"
  • System Preferences > Accessibility > Display: Check "Reduce transparency"

I was using 10.14.3 HFS+ on MacPro3,1 when I noticed my Spotlight wasn't working (affects searching in Outlook), and some websites had problems with the older Safari version, and I wasn't getting updates, so I decided to upgrade to 10.14.6 and APFS. A clean install worked, but I got problems after attempting Migration Assistant from my 10.4.3 partition (hang at the end of the startup progress bar). I solved it by removing some migrated extensions, launch daemons, and launch agents (but I don't know which of them, if any, caused the problem).

Before that, I found that the startup.nsh script (used to load the apfs.efi driver) in the EFI partition does not work when you have more than 16 file systems. The script incorrectly assumes file systems are numbered 0-9 and A-Z when in fact the file systems are numbered using hexadecimal. Here's my updated script (supports up to 64 file systems):
Code:
echo -off

set StartupDelay 1
set -v efishellmode 1.1.2
set macOSBootFile "System\Library\CoreServices\boot.efi"
set targetUUID "10D5CE8C-43FE-43F2-8089-DAEDF6485644"

I save the text using Windows line endings (CRLF) - I'm not sure if that matters - the behavior might be different than the existing file which was created with UNIX line endings (LF). I believe CRLF is more correct, because text files generated in the EFI shell have CRLF. For example "map -v > map_v.txt"

The next thing I want to do is move the BOOTX64.efi (ShellX64.efi), apfs.efi, and nsstartup.sh to a separate partition so that the Startup Manager (hold option at startup) shows "Mojave" instead of "EFI Boot". You can use the bless command to add a ".disk_label" (and ".disk_label_2x" for newer retina Macs) to a partition. The Startup Manager doesn't show the label for the standard EFI boot location - hence the need to move to a different partition. The bless command can set the efi boot program of a HFS+ partition (doesn't need to be in an EFI folder). Any partition can have a custom icon (a .VolumeIcon.icns file that is created when you paste into the Finder Info window of a volume) that will appear in the Startup Manager and in the Finder.

I have found using the APFS ROM update a good solution for the cMP3.1.

I was using 10.14.3 HFS+ on MacPro3,1 when I noticed my Spotlight wasn't working (affects searching in Outlook), and some websites had problems with the older Safari version, and I wasn't getting updates, so I decided to upgrade to 10.14.6 and APFS.
Another reason to upgrade to 10.14.6 is to get the new multiple refresh rates for scaled resolutions feature.

I'm afraid to blow up my rom. Maybe one day I'll do it. I'd also like to add an XHCI driver.

Yes run the post install patches, remember to select your model of mac from the drop down click patch then reboot
give a while and cross your fingers. If that doesn't work then erase the disk install Mojave again, do the post install patches etc and reboot.

Hello, Does anyone know how to wipe the whole thing and go back to High sierra?

A bit OT, but very helpful side-information:
Now with Parallels Desktop 15 users cannot choose to use DX10, DX11 or nothing anymore for Windows (7,8,10).
Parallels relies on Metal API when running on Mojave or Catalina.
On our old machines that will not work in most cases... (eGPUs will do!).

Here´s the trick to go back to OpenGL for DirectX (extracted this hint during a support case phone call to Parallels):

Set a boot flag in the settings of the virtual machine at "boot sequence", then pop up the "extended settings" and
enter
video.metal=0

Then, voilá, another round of update successfully possible on unsupported machines!
