macOS 10.14 Mojave on Unsupported Macs Thread

I successfully applied 10.14.6 Supplemental Update 2 to my HackbookPro 6,2 by doing the following:

  1. Backup (I use Carbon Copy)
  2. Create a Mojave Installer USB using Dosdude Mojave Patcher version 1.33 (if you don't have one already)
  3. Install Supplemental Update 2 (System Preferences > Software Update)
  4. Allow system to reboot and follow prompts to complete installation
  5. Reboot from the Mojave Installer USB
  6. Run Post Install Utility
  7. Select only the Legacy Graphics Patch
  8. Reboot
  9. From terminal, run 'sudo kextcache -i /'
  10. Reboot
EDIT: Same procedure worked on my HackPro5,1

so i might be wrong here, but after 10.14.6 supplemental update 2 on MBP6,2 my menu bar turned grey in light mode whereas i had the impression it was at least white before? hmmm...

EDIT: the update eliminated the bluesky patch by 0403979.

Thanks. That was the issue. I usually take the defaults since the patcher is pretty good at figuring out what it needs. I'm not going to upgrade the video card in this thing (unless forced to) so things are good.
 
Not sure how that happend but just did and OTA and after reboot instead of Mojave may Mackbook air md2011 reverted back to High Sierra. Going to download a fresh copy of Mojave and start again.
 
Hi @dosdude1 After installing 10.14.6 supplemental update 2 over 10.14.6 with patcher 1.3.3 on Macmini4,1 the booting was neverending with loading bar stuck at 98% .Luckily, applying again patches and force cleaning the caches solved my issue without losing any data or Installed apps 😃

anyone know if the supplemental update has been included in the main app store installer file?
 
Hi all, I tried to install the APFS ROM patcher on a late 2009 2.53 Ghz Mini 3.1 and I got the multiple EEPROM chips warning:

These Minis aren't the easiest Macs to disassemble but I don't want to risk bricking it by choosing the wrong EEPROM chip.

Could anyone who successfully ran the patch on the same model please let me know which chip is the right one, assuming they are the same among same models? The chip auto selected by the patcher is the last one. Thanks for any help.

I've searched this thread but I haven't found an answer, though I found this post that is worrying me a bit.

I have MacBook Pro 5,5 happily running 10.14.6 and the Supplemental Update worked fine.
However, I can't get the machine to Sleep.
Selecting Sleep from the Apple menu and/or closing the lid does not put the system into sleep mode.
Everything else appears to be working fine.
Any ideas on what the issue might be?

Guinea Pigs Beta Testers Wanted

Some months ago, I created an SSE 4.2 emulator for the Mac Pro 3,1 (and potentially older systems as well). I didn't get to broadly test or release it before my focus had to shift elsewhere. It's been in more or less daily use here, mostly on Mojave, but it's also been tested (at least briefly) on High Sierra and Catalina Beta 7. It allows newer AMD video cards to run full Metal.

It's only ever been tested on my one Mac Pro 3,1, with my one AMD RX 570 video card. I'd like to test it on a broader sample of machines/video cards before throwing it out for public use. So, if you have a Mac Pro 3,1, a newer (metal-compatible) AMD video card, and some time to spare, send me a DM/PM/Whatever-they-call-private-messages-on-this-forum and I'll send you the package. NOTE: The installer is still a work in progress, so if you're not comfortable copying files to /S/L/E and invalidating the cache, we both might be better served if you wait for the full release.

is there a way to remove the legacy video patcher.. ?
As far as I can remember from the past this was not possible, only to reinstall MacOS again.

Mac Pro 3.1 with Kepler GPU

Patcher 1.3.3

Doesnt get 10.14.6.00 to 14.6.06 to boot.

Downloaded Patcher and Mojave Install thru Patcher 1.3.3 today

Got stuck in the middle of the progress bar, verbose boot pic attached where it stucks. Looks like graphics kext got a memory leak.

I have that model and just installed the latest Mojave update to the Mojave partition - This Mini runs Sierra and Mojave. Both partions are set up as MacOS Extended Journaled, HFS+. That way I don't have to deal with the issue you're having. Mojave runs fine for me without APSF.
FWIW, I had to reinstall the older Weather Widget parser file to get the Weather Widget working again, for those that use it.

Hello all
here are the results of installing the supplemental update 2 (Version 10.14.6 (18G103)) using OTA. This has been similar to the installation of supplemental update 1. My machine rebooted without problem after the installation. After the first reboot (rather long time waiting) I had a message from Patch Updater asking to re-install:
  • Night Shift Patch
  • USBOHCI Support Patch
I thus re-installed these patches, and a new restart was required. After this second restart I still needed to have a USB mouse because Bluetooth was not working. I ran again Patch Updater asking to re-install all patches. After this third restart Bluetooth is back and so far all seems fine.

Thanks for your reply. Using HFS+ is my plan B if I don't get enough confidence to run the APFS patcher, hopefully someone who did it successfully on a 2.53 Ghz Mini 3,1 will give me some. I've found another post of a bricked mini 3,1 and no successful ones but surely some people have done it.

BTW @dosdude1 if I brick it would this be enough to recover it without desoldering?

Hey guys, I have a MBP 4,1 that keeps getting stuck on boot up. I was on 14.3 and I’m trying to update to 14.6 using the latest tools. I’ve tried different configurations of patches, and I’ve tried reinstalling the operating system multiple times with no luck. Any advice would be great, thank you!
 
@dosdude1 So I tried installing windows 10 to another PC with the same USB, everything worked so far, so it is unlikely that the USB is broken. I could not take it further from here.

Note that the tool does not allow copying directly from log, I had to type by hand, typo may happen What I find strange:
  • After this message, the USB drive icon is still showing on the desktop, so no idea what disk2 is.
  • The USB's label is Untitled, but the error said device "".
What I have tried:
  • I formated my usb, both using a Mojave machine and a El Capitan machine, using format OSX extended (Journaled)
Has any of you successed with a usb stick / thumb drive and not an external hard drive?

To respond positively to my own questions..I have MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 succefully installed on my Macbook Pro Core Duo 2,66 GHz mid 2009 (Thanks again Dosdude for the great work..) i had installation problems with the BlueSky 1.4 patch (this to give solution to the darkish issue of menu bar and windows in Mojave..).

This problems have been solved by the SpiraMira Hybrid & Flat Mod Patchers:
