HomeKit for MacOS is a security disaster waiting to happen. Here's hoping they do NOT do that.

For me a unified iOS and Mac OS looking OS that can run iOS apps would kill the Mac as a computer to be taken seriously, it’ll just be nothing more but an overpriced glorified iPad that runs Final Cut.

Well, more critically, it runs Xcode.

You don't have to worry about the future of MacOS until and unless they port Xcode to iOS.

I’d rather we didn’t see a new version of macOS until next year.

I’d prefer point releases where the focus is on stability and fixing what’s there already and a return to the days of snow leopard which had (I think) an 18 months to two year gap until Lion

Next year will almost certainly see the ‘marzipan’ project (along with the declarative UI project) and that then seems a good time to redesign the Mac UI and get rid of any cruft.

Please fix the G** D**M color wheel to at least pre High Sierra state - pre Mavericks would be even better. You guys hosed the best tool in the entire OS.

I don’t care about Xcode, if it starts running iOS apps it really isn’t a PC, because app developers won’t bother making proper programmes anymore, it doesn’t make business sense. Just make one ‘app’ for all platforms.

It would be nice if the macOS does everything that it promises to do without any bugs and glitches. I mean all the features present just work as they did in past.

Full APFS specifications disclosure so that DiskWarrior works with it.
APFS working also with external booting disks.
APFS working also with Time Machine disks.
Bring back color labels for Finder items and Finder sidebar (left pane).
Bring back two-arrows on scroll bars.

I hope the unification between iOS and macOS does not happen. Many of the macOS apps are already lacking features compared to some of their Windows counter parts. Who would want further dumbed down mobile apps on their full-fledged computers?

They're different platforms for different use cases, and many user scenarios at that which apply to a Mac.

Apple file system for the fusion drives, that’s really the only feature I wanted for my iMac from high Sierra

- Volume Control on DP/HDMI !!!!
- DisplayPort MST Support
- NTFS full Support
- Home Kit
- Better Dark Mode
I agree with allmost all your points from HDMI volume control (unless it is implemented as controll signals (cec iirc)) Imho the resulting multiple levels of volume controll is just annoing, volume shuld be controlled by the original soun mix and the amp at the end of the chain uthervuse you can end up ith an inermidiare step (controlled by sw) sudenly having a L»moment» and boosting/ redusinf tje wolume without ypur input, whicjh is far from ideal

  1. Green button expands windows to maximum size without hiding necessary things like the menu bar and dock.
  2. Cut/Paste (cmd+x/cmd+v) to move files in the finder.
That is all. Two ridiculously easy things to implement even for a boneheaded company like Apple. About time they do something RIGHT.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Why would I want any of those things aside from group FaceTime and apfs improvements?? The windowed environment of Mac OS works loads better than split screening on the iPad. I never go full screen for apps, unless it's by accident. If anything I'd want iOS to take more cues from the OS that's been around for 35 years, not the other way around!

I personally miss the old label system that highlighted the entire name of an item rather than just a small dot. I also miss the colours of the finder icons. I agree that iTunes is really problematic and has been since around the days of Mavericks. The old interface with full sidebar was the best implementation and I feel that changes have been made just for the sake of change at the cost of usability. What frustrates me is that Apple really nailed the whole interface roughly around the time of Snow Leopard. Not perfect, but close. And ever since there have been unnecessary features tacked on at the expense of simplicity and elegance. Launchpad is a good example. Having a dock, an applications folder, and spotlight search should remove any need for launchpad and yet it’s in there. Of course it’s optional to use, but it is an example of the unnecessary bloat that is feature creep.

Congratulations on turning the Mac into an iPad. Being a mere developer who only needs the system to be logical and functional, I'm out.

PS: What did TextEdit and the Color meter do to you?

Apple really needs to get SMB file browsing back up to speed or switch back to SAMBA. One or the other, but it's been several years now of painfully slow file browsing on Windows servers and there's just no excuse for that. I can pull up a Terminal window and list the contents of a share just fine on the command line while the Finder sits there churning through it taking its sweet time. That can't be that hard to fix.

Also, fix this annoying rendering quirk in column-view that has been around for over a year at this point.

Also a checkbox to turn window snapping off in the Finder. God, I hate that "feature." If I want my windows to snap together, I'd place them that way.
