macOS 10.15 Catalina on Unsupported Macs

you should not always look at this info, it is always the same inst. program ... important is the info.plist, how you can recognize the build version !!! but you should know that as the expert here. I know when others see this picture of you, they think it's the Final 10.15 Final or 10.15.2 Final for installation.
And therefore some people here doubt whether it really is the current Dev. Preview 10.15.4 DP3 Build 19E242c.

It is actually unusual for Apple to release a full installer, as is the case here now, in a fairly early beta, instead of just always having an update version with around 2.6 GB.

I don't care that some person doubts, I tell you Its 10.15.4 DP3 Build 19E242d

successfully installed 10.15.4 Dev Beta 3 on my mid 2009 MacBook 5,2 after doing a clean install of 10.15.3 I used the pinarek method swupatch after the update downloaded I used jackeluke's catalinaswuamfi fix patch4 once installed I did the post install patches except the platform compatibility patch once in my desktop I replaced the wrappers by Asentientbot rebooted then applied improvemetUI patch by fabioroberto all seem to work except the display preferences

I guess those who can't continue OTA update is only because are on non-apfs (apfs loader script) volumes.

On your iMac previously do you applied the APFS rom patch ?

Apfs ROM patch loads apfs.efi in the machine firmware, however for non-apfs surely there is a "efi script way" to manually load the APFS macOS installer boot.efi, I'll do some tests.

And that's why also during Mojave the OTA updates required the APFS install, because apple packaged the OTA only for an APFS Installer role.

1.Hi @jackluke . Though I partitioned Mojave & Catalina drives as APFS Volumes but still I dont get to see OTA updates on Catalina on my iMac 2011 unsupported with updated graphic Card. Software update doesnot show any updates. I know it was made to work like this with Dosdude1's 1.30 patch.
2.But I want only apps and security updates to show in OTA , is it possible? I know there is some swupdate terminal command you & others posted earlier. I am on 10.15.3 which I upgraded again making a patched USB drive using Dosdude1's patch.
3. I am not keen on Beta updates on an old mac as it may cause issues and further all these wrapper stuff is not my cup of tea. So I would wait for final 10.15.4.

First, great work. It certainly looks much better. I ran into a show stopper for me though. When this is enabled I am unable to open any virtual machines in Virtual Box 6.1.4 (using the latest one but possibly affects older ones).

I get error:
The virtual machine 'Windows 7 Ultimate Clone' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1) as soon as I try to open a virtual machine.

Result Code:	NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component:	MachineWrap
Interface:	IMachine {85632c68-b5bb-4316-a900-5eb28d3413df}

This happens with new machines also. As soon as I reboot into single user mode and run the script to remove it I am able to use Virtual Box again. Not sure if this is anything you can work around or anything I can do here to get past this. Just wanted to give a heads up in case anyone else runs into the same issue.

To get OTA and apps (Safari technology preview or Xcode tools) updates (non-Beta) you should anyway run this patch: Sierra's swupatch
and then open Catalina Software Update prefpane and remove the Beta enrollment clicking Details "Restore to defaults" (otherwise you get OTA beta software updates).

Don't forget that also on non-beta OTA updates and with a Metal GPU (even if with upgraded Metal you could keep AMFI enabled) you should apply the catalinaswufix4amfi before OTA restart to whitelist the unsupported mac, and from post-patches de-select the "Platform Compatibility Patch" (to keep AMFI disabled over a nvram reset) and "Legacy Video Patch" (to keep the stock Metal GPU drivers).

Well done, Display prefpane on unsupported mac seems to don't work more from 10.15.4 , if you need to change screen resolution you could use this app: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/easyres/id688211836?mt=12

I noticed your DDR2 SDRAM and NVidia gpu, so it's a non-apfs firmware machine, then to complete OTA I assume do you applied previously the APFS ROM patch ?

Because as many know APFS ROM patch is a risk of EFI brick, but also from your previous test on your iMac you applied the APFS ROM patch, and from what I read you are among the fewest that succesfully APFS ROM patched machines with Nvidia MCP79 chipset.

On my hackbook (Medion laptop built in 2009) aka MBP 5.2 also installed properly. Could only update from Catalina 10.15.3 Final to 10.15.4 DP3, everything else, from 10.15.4.DP2 and also from DP1 to DP3 failed because the option "Install from macOS xxx - Data" did not appear in the clover. Everything, except the setting in monitor, only "colors" appear, not the change of the screen resolution - but it is not so important, there are enough tools to change that.
Everything else ok, such as graphics acceleration and full transparency, WiFi etc. everything is fine.

Since the DP2 there has been a problem that the bios (Phoenix) always jumps back to standard (see screenshots). I need the options as seen in image2. Is not the same with Mojave 10.14.6 as in DP1. That left the BIOS settings as I saved it.

If you had a Mac with macOS Mojave installed on it you could download I think a full installer of 10.15.4 with a dev beta profile from what I read then make patcher with it but I am not so sure about it

Thanks for replying and with the screenshots. I noticed you were on version 10.15.3 and I was on an older version so upgraded and tried again. Now working fine. When I ran CatalinaUI after enabling it and rebooting the application did not launch or launched and quit so I had to disable by using single user mode. After upgrading and running CatalinaUI it rebooted and the app started automatically showing an option to remove it. So something must have changed but not sure what. Anyway I'm very happy as Virtual Box is working fine now too. Thanks again.

Its been awhile since I post here. So, I got the 2015 MacBook Pro with Intel iris and R7 chip - Its very fast and very nice with Catalina. When will this computer not run latest OS X version, assuming ARM isn't the main processor ? Also, will Dosdude support 2015 Macbook Pros with the latest OS X version in the future ?
