No, everyhing is fine with Preview on officially supported Macs. It's definitely not a Ventura bug. I could test it on my Apple M1 Max MacBook Pro 2021 14 inch, and also on beta 13.4. Same on MBP 13.2 (13" 2016) i7 3.3 GHz - Intel Iris Graphics 550 - BCM20703A2 - APPLE SSD AP0512J, with OCLP 0.6.2.

I tried once again you're right, but without root patching it starts in 10 seconds, so on unsupported Macs there is something not right as in same situation on other not patched systems preview starts immediately and probably if we patch and disable AMFI ......🙂 In any case it is not a great problem as pressing space bar after selected item it starts

Went from 13.3 to 13.3b4 and the issue with Preview blacking out pics remains. I can attribute this to a OCLP root patching as Preview was able to display the picture before applying the OCLP root patch for graphics acceleration (and use of the internal HD4000) on my machine.
Try selecting the item and press space bar, it will probably works.
11 years old machine as mine but I can't pretend anything. International laws guarantees availability spare parts for 10 years we are over.....I am very sorry but who's faulty doesn't matter just read previous posts.
Developers (not me) are not here to solve anyone issue.....Everybody has his life not just his Mac

I'm just calling out that the post root patching is what breaks Preview on at least my 10,1 machine with 13.3.x. Certainly not an urgent issue at the surface as there are other ways of displaying images on the desktop. Pressing space bar, rotating, zooming - none of them work to display the picture. TBH, I can live with Preview not displaying pictures but I hope this does not manifest itself in other workflows/areas that are more detrimental in gaining continued use of their machines. Kudos to the developers who allow us to persist with our older hardware.
Try open with Applications/select all applications/Utilities/ColorSync utility and check always open with.
Thanks, but the issue is not with using a different app for viewing any pictures, its with the Preview app when the OCLP root patching is done. On my machine, when opening up Preview the initial load seems to pull the image but then immediately gets blocked with no subsequent action (maximize, zoom, rotate, etc.) able to display the image. Again, not looking for another app that doesn't exhibit this issue but something to be aware of.
Took the plunge with OCLP 0.6.2 , iMac17,1 (iMac 27” Late 2015 i5 AMD Radeon R9 M380 )
Issues at the moment : Apple TV+ app hangs the iMac (anyone had this or have a work around?)
I have tested DRM , HW acceleration , Continuity camera , Photos App/videos these are working.
Done a few searches and cant find anything relating to tv+ App

Fantastic! Any screenshot I made, turns out black and empty, while its icon contains an image. Never observed that before.

How did you reconfigure OCLP if you Mac was not able to boot ?
I am currently in the same situation (boot stuck at 50%) and I don’t know what to do….

Seems like my 2012 MM runs a lot smoother (13.3), patched with OCLP 0.6.3 nightly.
As others have said, Preview does not work, what I noticed however is that I see something about "graphics acceleration not supported" when starting up, it goes too quickly though and my eyes are too slow to read it.
I might do a 240 Hz recording on my iPhone later on to see what it is about.

Not sure if I understood correctly what you meant. I think it has to do with the EFI patch so all those fixes happen before booting the machine. If you're installing from an external flash drive you need to patch the flash drive EFI with OCLP even before booting from the installer. If you are upgrading from the installer on your internal storage you will need to patch your internal storage EFI with OCLP before being allowed to run the installer.
Let me try and clarify: I'm already running Monterey with OCLP 0.6.3n and so far every 12.x update required NVRAM tweaks via recovery to work around the dGPU issue, until the root patches could be reapplied. You confirmed that Ventura doesn't trigger this issue anymore, once it's installed. My question now is: does the upgrade process to Ventura (i.e. the Ventura installer) still require the dGPU fixes or is that also fixed? IOW, do I have to apply the dGPU fixes for/during the (in-place) upgrade to Ventura? Hope this helps 🙂

I have seen this before quite a few times and....I don't think it's due to OS nor OCLP.
I.ve been using macOS/Os X since 10.0b, I've seen this behaviour before, my believe is it has nothing to do with the OS but a Youtube thingie.

I did a PRAM reset a couple of days ago on my 2012 MM (13.3RC), it refused to boot afterwards.
Moral of the above, be aware that your advise has consequences.

Im a little confused as to the latest patches. Im running 0.6.2 and 13.2.1 on my 2016 MacBook Pro 15". Can I update to 13.3?

No you don't need to run patches during the update process. After the upgrade it will boot into Ventura and you can install the post install patches. Just wait for all the reboots and it will eventually come to login screen.

Updated to 13.3 on my early-2013 retina MacBook Pro, it seems to be stuck in some sort of safe mode and tops out at 1.2GHz, trying to roll back but having issues. Anyone else having these “throttling problems”
