macOS 13 Ventura on Unsupported Macs Thread

@K two Yup. that is exactly where I read it. From the release notes, I couldn't tell if it was "a recent change" to OCLP or to macOS. Legacy Wi-Fi continues to work well for me patched with OCLP 0.6.8.

FYI - I've had posts deleted here in this forum when started with "Certainly" as they imply a user's inability to see the obvious. I think you know by now that I regularly read OCLP release notes and commits.

update: OCLP 1.4.0 works the same as 1.3.0 for my iMac12.2 (K3100M) running Ventura 13.6.4.

The network issue for 13.6.5 is that both Ethernet & WiFi are de-activated (red dot) after applying the post-install patch which contains a legacy wifi patch (and a graphics patch). Interestingly, the Thunderbolt Bridge status changed from "not connected" to "connected" after the patch.

update_2: tried OCLP 1.4.1 which did not make any difference.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem on my iMac 27" mid 2011 Legacy WIFI/BT (only difference: graphic card= AMD WX4130 Dell):
- upgrade from Ventura 13.6.4 to 13.6.5
- Ethernet is de-activated after applying the post-install patch
- Thunderbolt Bridge status changed from "not connected" to "connected" after the patch.
- Ethernet are OK after unpatching
- same thing with OCLP 1.4.1 and OCLP 1.3.0

As I have another Mac available, I will wait for this bug to be resolved :)

I have an iMac 2010, 21.5-inch, that I use in a variety of locations, so Wifi is essential (way easier to setup, just plug into power and connect to wifi--not always close to ethernet)
Running Monterey, now at the current 12.7.4
Patched OCLP 1.4.1, and wifi is gone. tried a number of reinstalls, repatched with other OCLP version back to 0.6.8, still no go.
I also wiped the drive, clean install 12.7.4, with completely clean new user setup, using OCLP 0.6.8 as the first "touch", and still no wifi. Ethernet, patched or unpatched, in any case, works, so can still get around, but is just not as portable. I suspect this will be an OCLP update that helps the issue. (getting tired of wiping/reinstalling/resetting/etc. :cool: )

A fix will arrive in the next version of OCLP." ;) You may have to "forget" your network and re-sign-in. Sorry about the excessive bold. 🤷‍♂️​

Yet another reason that I continue to apply post-install patches to Big Sur, Monterey and Ventura with OCLP 0.6.8.

EDIT: I'm not sure if the supposed "breakage" is in OCLP post-install patches or in macOS. Legacy Wi-Fi continues to work fine for me in both Monterey 12.7.4 and Ventura 13.6.5 with OCLP 0.6.8 post-install patches.

I'm also still on the OCLP 0.6.8 post-install patches for Monterey and Ventura. Never updated nor tried the OCLP to a higher version ever than 0.6.8.

I've ordered a BCM943602CS WiFi Card and a mini PCI adaptor (I already have 3x leftover antenna connector conversion cables from my other iMac upgrade) ... I'd suggest you do the same because you already have a very nice graphics card and upgrade the wifi card will make your iMac almost perfect for Ventura.

I "downgraded" (another wipe and reinstall) to a 12.7.2 build, which fixed everything that needed fixing, (began with OCLP 0.6.8, but went on to 1.4.1, which completed without issues, and the Wifi continues to work. As this is not a primary system, I can wait to do further updates, until the OCLP patches get back under control...

Damned I did not see the 13.6.5 warning for my wifes G5.1 2010. I made this updated as usual and wanted to install the root patches...this does not work. I guess it is the problem which Dortonia is refering to. Does anyone know how long it will last for the next OCLP version? Can switching to sonoma, which means ignoring 13.6.5 be the solution if we can't wait for the update. According to OCLP, the G5.1 2010 is compatible for Sonoma.

Hello, I have updated it and it works perfectly!

In case it helps someone, Ventura 13.6.5 works perfectly on the following hardware:
- Mac mini late 2012 (i5, HD4000)
- 16GB of RAM
- 500GB SSD (Samsung 850 EVO)

What "does not work"? If you refer to the legacy wifi, Dortonia has just released 1.4.2 (nightly version) which contains the fix of this issue. I am installing 13.6.5 at the moment on my iMac12,2 which has a legacy wifi card.

update: very happy to report back that OCLP 1.4.2n has fixed legacy wireless patch issue. Many thanks to the developers for the effort & quick response, much appreciated.
update2: the wifi icon on the menu bar is a bit buggy. It greyed out after wake up and may need to re-click the intended SSID.
update3: the wifi is now working fine, not sure if it's due to the latest OCLP 1.4.2 official release, or the "forget and re-join SSID" trick, or it just settled down itself. Anyway, the wifi is good now. Initially my iMac12,2 also showed crash report pop up window (for not shutting down properly) each time after boot up ever since the last upgrade from 13.6.4 to 13.6.5. It has also disappeared.

Just ran the 13.6.5 with OCLP 1.2.1 (on Late '09 iMac, 10,1) which has always served me well until now. Can live without Wi-Fi, but have no Ethernet/no Internet. Have looked, but can't find it, can you please give a link to the 1.4.2 nightly. Will try that and hope that it fixes the no Ethernet issue.

I don't suppose to give out this link. But you can click on SOURCE.md and then blue GUI (Graphical Based App).

Many many thanks, the 1.4.2 was what was needed. After trying the 1.2.1, the 1.4.1, and the 0.6.8, was ready to give up and do a full reinstall. The 1.4.2 got everything back working again. This 13.6.5 was not an easy update. Never had so many problems before.
