Good morning,
I have a late 2009 21.5" Imac (10,1) currently running Ventura 13.6 and trying to install Sonoma 14.4.1 utilizing OCLP 1.4.3 and a USB installer. Everything is fine until I get to rebooting while holding the alt/option key. click on the USB EFI Boot icon and then the 'install Sonoma' icon. So far so good, but before it takes me to the recovery screen I get the forbidden sign (circle with diagonal thru it) and the wording "support.apple.com/mac/startup".
I'm using a wired keyboard and mouse and have already tried a different USB and downloading a second time the installer.
Can'f find this problem in the troubleshooting section of Github.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance, Jim
I'm having the same problem: stuck on the "forbidden" symbol with the startup URL at the bottom of the screen, at the same point in the installation. This is with OCLP 2.4.1 attempting to install 14.7.8 (23H370) on a MackbookPro5,3 (mid-2009) currently running 13.7.7. I've downloaded the installer through OCLP and used the same OCLP to create a USB stick.

The OC versions on my internal drive and the USB are the same; both were built on this same machine that I'm trying to install on. I've tried re-building the USB stick and also tried an NVRAM reset, but neither of these have helped.

Any more suggestions?

Thanks

Try a different USB flash drive. Yours may be failing macOS disk integrity checks.
Thanks, will do. Do you know if the Sonoma integrity checks are stricter than the Ventura ones? This same USB stick was successfully used to install Ventura 13.7.8 a month ago, so I'd be surprised if the flash memory inside had suddenly gone bad.

You're probably right, but having been in tech support for a long time, the vast majority of going bad does happen suddenly. It tends to follow the pattern:

It's working fine -> it's not working
:)

Having said that, things don't tend to fail that often. We just have too many things so there are failures quite often.

New updates in macOS Sonoma 14.7.7. Was holding the line for the 14.8 update.

Hi everyone, anyone who has a Macbook Pro 2017 15" with a dedicated card, how is the behavior of Sonoma via OCLP? Since it is a version above the official Ventura, is the video driver being maintained without needing to go through post-install?

I used the Sequoia for a while, and the latest version significantly increased battery consumption and the fans for basic use. I returned to the Ventura, which has excellent performance and battery life.

In addition to restoring screen mirroring from a Mac to an Apple TV 4K gen3, something that was lost when using Sequoia, I also want to test Sonoma 14.7 and OCLP 2.4.0, which have been reported to be very stable.

Hello!
I have an iMac 27" 2010 (iMac11,3) with macOS Sonoma 14.7.8, installed via OpenCore Legacy Patcher 4.2.1. Wi-Fi (Broadcom BCM4322) suddenly stopped working after a regular reboot. I haven’t updated anything, no OTA updates or system changes were made.

I just wanted to post here, since no one else seems to have, that the 14.7.7 KDK is available, re-apply root patches to install it. I did earlier today, and everything is running smooth.
So far this is the last KDK released for Sonoma, I will install the Sonoma 14.7.7 version to match this KDK

2012 Mac Mini running Ventura via OCLP. Tried to upgrade to Sonoma via a USB flash, and get an error when trying to install to the internal SSD - 'This volume can't be downgraded'. Which is weird, as I'm upgrading. Any ideas?

I've done upgrades via OCLP on various other legacy Macs, and not come across this before.

Sonoma on this 2012 MBP 16gb is SOOOO good and STABLE compared to Sequoia. Unfortunate as Sequoia obviously will get updates longer.. It seems it's a tiny bit slower on the 2015 MBA navigating Settings as it only has 8gb RAM, but I'm liking it.

Yeah I'm trying to do it now OTA from 14.8....hope this goes ok.. it was being really unresponsive in Settings Software Updates... thought for a bit maybe it was doing the Tahoe update as that button was greyed out like I had clicked it but I know I didn't..Preparing...35 min left. We'll see..

The GUI for updates in Settings Software Update is indeed a true PITA due to its unresponsiveness. Glad your update was successful.

Yeah me too.. I just had re-imaged this one too cuz the last update got borked.. Didn't really want to go thru all that again.. I haven't setup Time Machine backup yet for it. Need to get another drive for that.
