I reinstalled Sequoia over Sonoma on my 2017 15" Macbook Pro. My only complaint is the increased temperature; it might be due to indexing, so I'll wait a few days.

iStats menus 7 stopped displaying processes in the CPU and RAM fields after updating to Sequoia 15.7.3. I'm going to reinstall iStats to see if that fixes the bug.

Regarding the use of chatgpt in Safari 26.2, there is a significant delay when typing the prompt and generating a response. It works quickly in Chrome. I tried creating a web app in the dock from Safari and the problem persisted. Is this a Safari-specific issue? Unfortunately, the desktop app is only available for Apple Silicon.

There's an option in Safari's developer settings, under "Feature Settings," to disable "Allow WEBGL in Web Workers." I haven't tested it yet to see if that solves the problem.

macOS 15.7.4 installed atop 15.7.3 OTA, OCLP 2.5.0n, runs as expected.:apple:👏

Has anyone experienced issues opening Facebook pages with Safari 26.3? Safari 26.1 was fine, but version 26.2 couldn't be used.

EDIT: I'll respond myself: Like Safari 26.2, version 26.3 is INCOMPATIBLE with Facebook. Avoid it at all costs if you need to access Facebook pages.

MBA OTA to 15.7.4 no hitches. OCLP downloaded an updated metal library once the download began. For the iMac the install was via the 15.7.4 package from Mr. Macintosh. The update to 15.7.4 worked, but apparently OCLP didn't grab the newer metal library. I downloaded it separately and will install it once I can get hold of the 24G517 KDK that goes with it. I haven't yet seen it on the Apple Developer or OCLP sites.

MBP11,1: smooth update to 15.7.4 from .2 with USB installer and OCLP 2.4.1.
Post install patcher loaded and installed the corresponding Metallib (no KDK used for that machine).

Thanks, developers!

After upgrading to Sequoia 15.7.4, is anyone seeing any issues with screen shots captured with Shift-Command-4? This issue is likely specific to non-metal, since I haven't seen this on metal platforms.

Thanks. I have confirmed that the Shift-Command-x screenshot problem in Sequoia 15.7.4 does not happen without NVidia Tesla post-install patches (using either OCLP 2.4.1 or 2.5.0n). Without OCLP post-install patches, screenshot works fine. Looks like a problem specific to non-metal (maybe specific to NVidia Tesla).

EDIT: This might also be a KDK issue that will be resolved when a newer KDK is available from Apple.

Put 15.7.4 on the following machines without problems:

iMac 2011 27", i7 2600, 1TB SSD, 24GB RAM, K2100m
iMac 2011 27", i7 2600, 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM, K2100m
iMac 2011 21,5", i7 2600s, 1TB SSD, 20GB RAM, K2100m
MBP 2015, 13", i5, 8GB RAM, 256MB stock SSD

Installations went smooth. Created an USB installer with the OCLP 2.4.1 app and started the installer from within running 15.7.3. The 21,5" machine hung once in the black Apple screen but after a reboot went through without any problems. Everything seems to be fine so far.

I don't use facebook at all, but it wouldn't surprise me if some of the privacy and anti-tracking features of Safari don't get along with facebook. I have run into pages on other sites that don't load for a long time but will eventually load. I think it's due to certain tracking or ad elements not loading and causing things to hang until all the timeouts occur.

Successfully installed 15.7.4 via OTA on macbook air early 2014. However the installation stuck overnight (6hr) with the status bar at 30%. Force reboot and retarted in safe mode (hold the shift key) and it is able to complete the instattion.
Not sure what causes the installation hang.

Hello,

Just a friendly final note for EOL on Sequoia if anyone has an interest and perhaps the OCLP devs might read it here.
We are now expecting to not ever update our old legacy Macs beyond Sequoia.
It works great on a bunch of legacy macs here and has been and will be immensely valuable for a few more years.

If there however is a chance to fix a few minor things for EOL, that would be nice if at all possible. Perhaps others may add to this to make an exhaustive list.

We have a few MBA 3,2 2010:
  1. Can the brightness buttons for the display be made to work at all?
(We are aware of the Brighness slider app and it semi-works)
  2. Can the sleep function get some love? On all our MBA:s from 2010, we need to hold the power button for a few secs and then close and open the lid to wake it.
  3. On all our Macs, there is a very minor cosmetic thing: the wifi symbol needs to be clicked to be visible after a power up, which can be a little confusing for some users.
Other than that, the OCLP experience is very polished and that is pretty much it here as far as we are concerned.
Apart from possible tweaks for the last security updates on Sequoia if something breaks.

Ah well, Could not be more happy with this project regardless of these possible touches.
Many thanks!

Also, a great little MrMacintosh video with his usual attention to detail on how to block Tahoe in software update
by creating and installing a profile. Very easy.

Please note that these warnings are just used to help the Homebrew maintainers
with debugging if you file an issue. If everything you use Homebrew for is
working fine: please don't worry or file an issue; just ignore this. Thanks!

Warning: You have booted macOS using OpenCore Legacy Patcher.
We do not provide support for this configuration.

This is a Tier 2 configuration:
https://docs.brew.sh/Support-Tiers#tier-2
You can report Tier 2 unrelated issues to Homebrew/* repositories!
Read the above document before opening any issues or PRs.

macOS 15.7.2, OCLP 2.4.1, MacBook Pro retina'15 11,3

^^^ Do you also get:

Warning: No Cask quarantine support available: unknown reason

… before the Tier 2 warning…? I had this problem up to 2.4.1; but it disappeared after installling the latest OCLP 2.5.0 nightly: where only the warning about Tier 2 support is present (which is normal and to be expected for an OCLP’d Mac, and everything works).

… BTW, it might be interesting to know that OCLP is present as a cask on Homebrew:

… and can be installed with:

brew install --cask opencore-patcher

… or adopted, if already installed:

brew install --cask --adopt opencore-patcher

(discovered this when transitioning from MacUpdater (sadly discontinued) to Updatest).

Well, OpenCore Legacy patcher did it for me. I had a minor issue with some old Clover files, but it was resolved, and I can now boot to both Windows 10 and macOS Sequoia. I have to say it was really easy to install and upgrade macOS. Even troubleshooting was simple.

Hello,

I updated my macmini3,1 from macOS 12 to macOS 15. Everything worked fine so far. But my user is no longer an administrator, just a standard user.

How can I give the user administrator rights again?
Unfortunately, I don't seem to have a recovery partition.
