I downloaded Mist, version 0.3.0, but it doesn't show Sequoia 15.7.7. Yes, I checked the show betas box and hit the refresh button too. Still not showing 15.7.7.
However, it is OK, the "softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 15.7.7" Terminal command worked.
you have installers selected and not firmwares?

Those running newest macOS Sequoia how you finding battery life? my 2014 with a recent replacement seems to drain fairly fast not doing much (i get its old) but it feels a few tasks and I’m down to 50% . (I’m not upset using it plugged in but when I fitted the new battery it seemed much better on the latest couple of macOS Sequoia versions I think it’s draining faster)

Without a doubt, the 2014 MBP battery showed its replacement warning sooner.

I have a problem with FaceTime on my MacPro 6,1. The other person can see me, but I cannot see them.
With WhatsApp, however, it's the opposite: I can see other people, but they can't see me.

Smooth upgrade of my old HackBookPro6,2 to Sequoia 15.7.7 Beta (24G716). Posting this with Safari Version 26.5 (20624.2.4.18.2). This old laptop is running Sequoia amazingly well. My OCLP patching specs are as follows:
  • Booting with Open Core 1.0.7
  • Updated RestrictEvents.kext to javascriptcore branch version 1.1.7 (revpatch=jsc)
  • Applied root patches for Nvidia Tesla graphics and modern Broadcom Wi-Fi with OCLP 2.5.0n. OCLP used KDK 15.7.4

The native macOS Sequoia screenshot app is still not working, so I'm using a 3rd-part app from the AppStore.

Mac Pro 5,1 (2010) 1x CPU Intel Xeon 6-core X5690 3,46 Ghz, 16gb 1333MHz DDR3, PCI SSD 250GB Samsung, AMD Radeon RX580 8Gb, 30" Apple Cinema display (2K) + rebuild 27" imac (2K) to monitor. OpenCore Legacy Patcher 2.4.1 MacOs Sequoia 15.7.5 installed, works great, only safari have some gliches, not with Brave-Brower that is working perfect. Sound via Zeppelin air.

I’m in need of a cheap laptop for light work and I’m not sure which Intel MacBook should I buy.
Unfortunately, Apple products are REALLY overpriced on the used market in my country, so I haven’t been able to find many good options.

There are the only ones in my budget:
- MBP 2012, i5, 60€ (will upgrade it to an SSD and 16Gb of RAM)
- MBA 2017, 100€

At first I wanted an MBA M1, but they cost over 300€ and at that point I might as well get the Neo.
An iPad wouldn’t be a bad option, but it’s a bit too limiting for me

The only things that I require are Safari, AirDrop and AirPlay, that’s about it. I’ve read that they tend to not work on unsupported devices so that kinda worries me a bit.

Right.. 2017 MBA. As long as it has 8gb RAM. You can upgrade SSD then OCLP it to Sonoma if you want. My 2015MBA is there.. Has 8gb RAM and 2TB SSD. Works well. A little slow in changing screens in Settings etc. on Sonoma, but if you're patient, it works well. I personally wouldn't put Sequoia on it. Not enough RAM IMO.

I don't think it makes sense to go that far back with MacBooks.

There's a line where you don't save money any more... it depends on your local market, but I think a used M1 or M2 MacBook Air is similar in price to the Intel MBA at this point.

The Intel MacBooks are a dead end already, so they're not a great investment in 2026 unless you can really handle all the OpenCore Legacy Patcher stuff and older app versions.

In 2026, their batteries will also be questionable - it's likely that they'll have to be replaced and Apple currently replaces batteries for 2017 MacBook Air and 2019 MacBook Pros onwards.

Of the Intel MacBooks, your best bets are the 2020 MacBook Pro 13" (Core i5-1038NG7 or i7-1068NG7) and 13" MacBook Air (Core i5-1030NG7 or i7-1060NG7). They are powerful enough (with a minimum of 16GB RAM) to do most current tasks and the MacBook Pro is still compatible with macOS 26 Tahoe while the MacBook Air stops at macOS 15 Sequoia.

My MBP 10,2 (Retina 2012 i5) feels really slow now. Not at all like the Quadcore MBP 9,1 (also 2012 i7), which is still used semi-productively, whenever my wife forgets to take her MBA M2 with her to her #2 office.... Go for 2017, although the chances for the display to fail are higher... (My 2017 MBP was a gift from a friend, because the display only works up to approximately 45°. I only use it in clamshell mode.)
