what vpn do you use? how do you use a vpn? does this cost money?

There was a promotion a few years back for a lifetime access for $30 on VPN Unlimited. Not sure if it's still active though, not to mention that buying a VPN just to download an update a few hours faster sounds silly. Maybe some vpn provider has an free month for testing

Been following along - first time post - tried VPN to Australia and the download IS WORKING!! Will see if it installs.

Even after finishing complete download I was facing An error occurred while installing the selected updates. error.
Executing following command fixed it for me.
sudo softwareupdate --reset-ignored

Works fine here. Downloaded 12.18 gb and installed. All i did was connect my imac 2 my iPhone 4G instead WiFi and works slow but like a charm yay

Great idea, I did the same and it's downloading now...

I went New Zealand and it's downloading now as well. Fingers crossed that the download finishes.

Facts. Australian connection via VPN is humming along nicely (for a VPN connection).

Download is working here in NZ - no VPN - 4.45Gb so far - 36 minutes to go. Hope the install works.

Those confirming "it works" if you VPN into Australia... what happens after the download finishes? Are you able to install? Not sure if that'll help those already done downloading or not.

I had the issue where it aborted immediately when i hit the button, but now it seems to be re-downloading from scratch. Not sure if it had completely downloaded before or not, but it was >10GB downloaded when I had last checked it (before error messages started)

I just keep getting the "An error occurred when installing the selected updates" message. Does that mean the update is corrupted and needs to be deleted? If so, how do I delete it and re-download? I've tried VPNs in UK, Germany, and Australia and I always get the same error...

Thanks I was wondering if I could find a free one but even if it was free it would probably make my laptop vulnerable even tho thats the point of having one. lol.

After connecting to Germany with VPN, it downloads flawlessly. VPN unlimited

I tried Germany via NordVPN. No joy. Tried a bunch of other EU countries, still no joy, but Japan and Australia work fine.
