System status says all good, but I still have the error!

Those confirming "it works" if you VPN into Australia... what happens after the download finishes? Are you able to install? Not sure if that'll help those already done downloading or not.

I had it fully downloaded and then got the error everyone got. So tried again to upgrade after Apple (falsely) claimed all's good in da hood. Got the error. VPNd to Australia, download resumed from 2.2GB. Switched to Germany, got the error instantly again. Switched to Japan. It's resumed where I left off from the Australian download. What happens after? Technically up until you need internet, the update will/should install, but from that point onwards, your question is valid, and that's something someone will have to confirm. The good news is, people don't have to worry about getting the error because of a "corrupt download". That is not the case and as the Apple support folks on the phone confirmed, the download will resume. What's interesting is that while my initial download claimed it downloaded 12.8GB, when resumed via Australia, it started at 2.2GB.

download complete, now installing.....fingers crossed that I see the apple logo again

You can get a free trial from CyberGhost VPN for 1 day without CC or any info other than an email address. I don't recommend them permanently but for this it should be OK. I'm using the Germany server and downloading right now.

well Success !
1. connect vpn to australia.
2. download starts slow as hell
3.disconnect the vpn , download freeze for a min and than resumes at rocket speed !

I had the exact same thing occur. All Apple apps opened with no problems but every single 3rd party app would just bounce in the dock and never open. It continued for over an hour. WTF?!
That should be fixed? If not, try turning off your wifi and see if they launch.
