hey guys the big sur update seems to have been pulled. I'm in Florida US, and I just went back and ran the software update prefpane and now it says my system is up to date with Catalina.

Finally...someone giving extra info thanks. Mine was stuck being unable to install and guarantee that is because it didn't fully complete the download - even though the system said it did.

I ran that command, clicked update (No VPN and I'm in UK) and it has started straight up from 3GB download. This proves that it had only downloaded that much before. I'm confident that if this completes it will now install but I will updated.

It says it will take 22 minutes to complete and is flying through the download.

Nope. Sudo didn't work for me.

Well this is interesting. My software updates suddenly claims I have no internet and that my updates are managed externally.

Those of us that "supposedly" downloaded the FULL file earlier are still in purgatory. Won't even initiate a download because the broken file keeps trying to install first. I'll just pile on to the group asking how do we delete that file so it can start over! UGH
One more on the pile for that!

Quick Q:
Can anyone remind me where the installer file(s) are stored when I get the initial 'click to continue' screen?
I'd like to copy them onto another Mac...

there's a bug where Software Update App. doesn't populate the authentication headers in the request it sends to Akamai servers and those return an error "403" aka "Prohibited". I am assuming there was an issue with the previous update of Catalina that screwed up the communication protocols.
